War!
Posted by jim at 12:53 PM Permalink Comments (0) TrackBack In the last 24 hours things seem to have changed very quickly. On the news this morning, came the news that George Bush had called our PM asking for troops to help fight the war. Sortly thereafter, cabinet met and the likely became definate as Australia commits troops to war "The government has authorised the chief of the Australian Defence Force, General (Peter) Cosgrove, to place the Australian forces already deployed in the Gulf region as part of any US-led coalition operation that may take place in the future, directed in accordance with existing authority under UN resolutions to disarm Iraq," he [John Howard]said in a statement to the press. Parent Advocacy Group for Educational Rights Mission Statement: PAGER’S mission is to bring the quality of general and special education reading instruction, at the State and local level, to current research based standards. PAGER’s aim is to raise the current standards and utilize the appropriate methods of instruction to teach children with dyslexia, dysgraphia (writing processing disability), and dyscalcula (math processing disability.) Goals and Objectives:
  • To support parents on the immediate needs of their children through the sharing of experiences and resources. To provide strategies on how to successfully advocate for your child within their school setting. To hold the educational system accountable for providing an appropriate and effective education for all children. To empower parents to advocate successfully for their children.
PAGER is still growing in numbers! We now have over 300 families on our mailing list. It is very clear that the parents of Maryland want to see standardized reading reform across the Country. We have been attending numerous IEP meetings and still see a profound lack of understanding regarding the necessary scientific approach required to teaching effective reading. The National Institute of Health states that a systematic, sequential, highly structured, explicit and intensive instruction of phonemic awareness, phonetics, reading fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension strategies is essential in teaching reading.

An expanded theatre arts curriculum allows students to choose a program of study best fitted to their needs with the choice of a performance emphasis, design/technology emphasis or general theatre studies emphasis. Performance and production opportunities are available in four major productions and a summer musical each year, as well as numerous children's theatre and senior project productions throughout the year.

a fenced-in, off-leash area for dogs located in Poway Community Park, 13094 Bowron Road For a picture of the park For upcoming events Poway Dog Park is an award-winning 1.75 acre fenced-in, lighted, off-leash area for dogs within the City of Poway's Community Park. Poway Community Park is open from sunrise to sunset daily. Lights in the dog park off-leash area extend evening hours to 9:30 p.m. Between 50 and 150 dogs visit the park each day with their owners. The dogs play, run, sniff, "exchange mail," and chase each other in carefree games of tag in three separate, spacious areas. Each area is supplied with drinking water to quench the dogs' thirst, picnic benches for humans to sit and discuss their canine companions, and even a retired fire hydrant that acts as a post office for canine mail. Areas of the park can be reserved for dog shows, training classes, and other events, such as dog birthday parties. For large special events, the fences that separate the areas can be removed to create a single, larger fenced-in area.

The list is kept live and updated every time the page is viewed. (or, if your browser has a "client-pull" feature, it will update itself automatically every 10 minutes.) Dx means a "long distance" radio contact. It's fun to talk long distance but it can be a pain scanning the dial hunting down that rare contact. To help out, some amateur radio operators report in and log the Dx stations that they've heard so that others can more easily find and talk to those stations too. Alternate view: Some hams think that finding the Dx stations is part of the challenge of amateur radio operating. They consider Dx reports to be nothing more than cheat-sheets. aa2mz's point of view: If you want the challange of finding the Dx stations yourself, don't look here. If spinning the dial doesn't give you jollies, take a peek.
