The Internet For Women In Music (and those curious about them)
Even though I am starting from ground zero, there may be some information and addresses in this flyer that could be of interest to major computer mavens.
For Starters:
Depending on what computer you have, try The Internet Starter Kit for the Macintosh , 4th Edition (Adam Engst, Hayden Books) or The Internet Starter Kit for Windows , 2nd Edition (Adam Engst, Hayden Books) or The Internet Starter Kit for Windows 95 (Adam Engst, Corwin S. Low, Hayden Books). Then collect email addresses, send email, join and participate in news lists, and visit web sites. Also, things change quickly. So if some of the addresses I have listed are now incorrect, try going to one of the larger sites and seeing if they are linked to the person, place or thing that you seek. Then start sending email until you find someone who knows the answer. Most people on the net are very helpful.
Some Web Sites
Whenever you are on a web page, click on everything that is a different color and on all the buttons that show categories of materials and see if it takes you somewhere else. You can always go back to the page you were on by clicking the BACK button. Some pages have sounds or parts of scores on them that have to be read by special programs. Usually the page itself will tell you what you need to see/hear special things. Music and pictures take seconds or minutes to appear. So be patient, if you want to do anything on a page except read text.

    Sundance Film Festival
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The Sundance Institute is an offspring of the Sundance Film Festival. The Sundance Institute is a multi-disciplinary arts organization dedicated to the development of artists of independent vision and to the exhibition of their new work. The Institute seeks to offer the artistic and professional resources to filmmakers, writers, playwrights, actors, composers that will best realize new talent in an atmosphere of support, collaboration, freedom of expression and freedom to experiment. Each of the Sundance Institute's programs is guided by the primary aim of supporting artists whose work reflects an original, compelling vision. The Institute's Feature Film Program has at its core the Screenwriters and Filmmakers Laboratories, held each year at Sundance, Utah. Designed to offer emerging screenwriters and directors the opportunity to develop new work, the Labs offer participating Fellows a creative environment away from the pressures of the marketplace and with the guidance of respected, veteran filmmakers. The Feature Film Program also includes a Screenplay Reading Series (in Los Angeles and New York) and the Native American Program, which supports new work by both emerging and established Native writers, directors, and producers.

Like many of the genX generation, music is an important part Vaughan-Williams, andsome of the well known composers of concert band music like Vincent
    http://www.budcub.com/music.htm
Like many of the Gen-X generation, music is an important part of my life. To people like my parents who grew up before "Rock-and-Roll" (1950's) "music" is just music. Its like, "Oh yeah, I think I hear music playing from the radio." Listening to music ranks somewhere near reading the newspaper on the entertainment scale. I've met other people who've had similar observations. Frequently I'll come across other people on the internet who also identify as being really into music, but when we try to chat it doesn't usually work out. They're either really into a genre that I have little exposure too (i.e. indie, garage bands, local live scenes) or when I mention who I like, they'll try to test my knowledge with trivia questions. I don't collect musical trivia. REM is one of my favorite bands, but I can't tell you much if anything about the title tracks on all their albums, their background, etc. Actually REM isn't a great example. I know their first album is called "Murmur" (also one of the easiest words to pronounce in the English language), and they're from Athens Georgia (also the birthplace of The B-52's , how did a place like Athens make them?) but that's it. I love their two most recent albums, even though they're different from their earlier music.
