For program coherence, candidates in the minor are encouraged to focus their course work in a theme (e.g., cultural and artistic traditions, economic development, history, language and literature, political systems, religions and philosophy, social systems) or in a geographic area (China, India, Japan, Korea, or Southeast Asia). York University, Toronto, April 11-13, 1996
master and servant defined the rights and obligations of most "free"
labour throughout the British empire and commonwealth and enforced
them through penal and civil sanctions. It supplied most of the terms
of employment, and gave both workers and employers the right to
summary hearings before magistrates in disputes about wages,
