Welcome to your oasis of understanding. The tutorials that follow explain calculusaudiovisually, and are the equivalent of a personal tutoring session.
http://www.calculus-help.com/funstuff/phobe.html
Learning calculus is pretty tough, and you can forget about reading your textbook to get help. Understanding that enormous tome is just as plausible as whittling a canoe from a giant redwood tree. Welcome to your oasis of understanding. The tutorials that follow explain calculus audio-visually, and are the equivalent of a personal tutoring session. More than just boring lectures, the topics come alive with Flash animation. I have gotten a lot of requests, asking me to put these up faster, and I apologize that I cannotI am working as fast as I can. Most modules take about 2-3 weeks to produce, since I only have time to do these in my spare time. Please don't send letters describing how disappointed you are that they're not all finished, because I can't go any faster!! To view a lesson, simply click on its name. You may be asked whether or not you want to install a plug in. Click yes. If you are still having trouble viewing the movies, download the free Flash player here Chapter One: Limits and Continuity Lesson 1: What is a Limit?

Calculus Interactive Tutorials and Tests
by Przemyslaw Bogacki
Under this project, a suite of on-line tutorials and tests is being developed for use in conjunction with a calculus sequence. Currently, beta versions of the following modules are available: Infinite Series Tutorial Integration Test Any progress made while working on these and other modules will be reported on these pages. The current modules are based on html/JavaScript technology, with some perl code used for reporting purposes. Most of the mathematics has been converted from T E X by T T H

Quantity Calculus Quantity calculus is a powerful way of handling calculations involving physical quantities and their units. A physical quantity is considered to be the product of a numerical value (ie pure number) and a unit In this way, the units in which a physical quantity is measured are included in its specification, and they can be kept track of in calculations by applying the usual rules of algebra. For example, the wavelength of blue light, (the physical quantity) is about 450 nm, which may be written: = 450 nm, or, equivalently: / nm = 450. Now, since the units m and nm are related by nm = 10 m, m, or equivalently: In equations, only pure numbers can be manipulated (if you doubt this, consider what could possibly be meant by raising a number to the power of a distance, or taking the natural logarithm of a temperature). Therefore, it is common in writing equations to specify both the physical quantity and its units. For example, to convert a temperature in in kelvin, T , to a temperature in degrees celsius, T / K - 273.15.

Home Dental Calculus What is dental calculus? Calculus is a deposit of calcium phosphate salts on the surface of teeth. Sometimes it is also called tartar but this term is less commonly used these days. There is no fixed composition of dental calculus because the type and amount of calcium phosphate salt which precipitates onto the tooth surface is affected by a variety of local factors such as the concentration of calcium and phosphate the relative amounts of each ion present locally the pH the presence of other ionic species such as magnesium the presence of other calcium phosphate mineral I could go on, in fact almost any local condition you care to name will have at least some effect on the type of mineral which deposits. It is, therefore, difficult, or even impossible, to be definitive about calculus composition beyond the fact that it comprises a mixture of calcium phosphate minerals such as: brushite octacalcium phosphate tricalcium phosphate biological apatite Types of Calculus The two main types are supra-gingival and sub-gingival calculus although some choose to sub-divide supra-gingival calculus into a number of different types related to its location in the mouth.

    Sentence-Functors
The sentence,             Mary is English and John is Welsh may be thought of as consisting of two constituent sentences             Mary is English             John is Welsh together with the matrix j and y A matrix , in this sense, is something with spaces marked with variables which accept appropriate fillers, and it yields something new when the spaces are appropriately filled. In the case of the matrix above, the variables j and y mark spaces which  accept declarative sentences (the constituent sentences); and when the variables are replaced by declarative sentences, the result is itself a declarative sentence. A matrix of this sort is a sentence functor A piece of terminology: "

    Tableaux
Sentence Tableaux Sentence tableaux provide us with a way of telling whether a set of sentences is consistent or not. They work in effect by breaking down sets of complex sentences into sets of simpler sentences where inconsistency is easier to spot. Let us investigate the consistency of the following set of sentences:             John likes rugby if he is Welsh             John is Welsh unless his father is Scottish             John's father is Welsh but John does not like rugby. We proceed as follows: Step 1: Translate the English sentences using the truth-functors of the propositional calculus. (Remember to use stand-alone sentences for the constituents.) This gives us:             [John is Welsh John likes rugby]             [John is Welsh John's father is Scottish]             [John's father is Welsh ¬John likes rugby] Step 2: Abbreviate the short constituent English sentences with single capital letters.
