Chasca Twyman has a BSc in Geography from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (1993), and a PhD from the University of Sheffield (1997) ( Community Development and Wildlife Management: Opportunity and Diversity in Kalahari Wildlife Management Areas, Botswana Between 1998-2001 she has been a Post-Doctoral Research Associate on a Department of International Development funded project investigating poverty, policies and natural resource use in Southern Africa. From January 2001 she took up her appointment as Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Sheffield. Society-environment interactions, community-based natural resource management, poverty and development, Southern Africa Sustainable livelihoods and natural resource management in Botswana Preparing cultivated melons for drying and storage in a Kalahari community.     Located in the middle of the region of southern Africa, Botswana is a land rich in wildlife. In previous centuries, hunters came from different parts of the world to shoot these animals and take home trophies. Today, hunters still come to go on safari but they stalk the animals with their cameras and camcorders instead of weapons. Lesson Description
    Students will visit a site on adventure in Botswana, where they will visit several national parks and learn about the wildlife. Students will answer questions on Botswana and then plan a safari to this southern African nation. National Geography Standards:
