" A t 8 o'clock on the morning of July 21st. 1899 Ernest Miller Hemingway came to town wrapped in a light blue comforter. It was a very hot morning. The sun shone brightly and the Robins sang their sweetest songs to welcome the little stranger to this beautiful world "The little lad weighed 9 lbs., had thick black hair, dark blue eyes, black eyebrows, Mahogany colored complexion, a dimple in each cheek, Grandpa Ernest Hall's nose and mouth, like a cupid's bow, Hands and nails just like Grandpa Ernest's. Plump and perfect in form with a deep toned voice," wrote Grace Hall Hemingway of her second child's birth in the first of five lavishly annotated scrapbooks of photographs, newspaper clippings, and letters she made. The paper record that begins with her lovingly compiled scrapbooks comes full circle with the donations to the John F. Kennedy Library by Hemingway's fourth wife and widow, Mary Welsh Hemingway, and his sons, Jack, Patrick, and Gregory, of Hemingway's manuscripts, letters, scrapbooks, notebooks, photographs, and memorabilia. Zeichnungen: Silke Klaassen-Boehlke, 80 Seiten, Broschur, Preis:19,80 DM, ISBN 3-930845-58-X

Of course the great writer is no longer in residence and the house has been converted into a museum in his honour. As Hemingway requested in his will, the museum pays for all expenses incurred by the current residents, heirs to the mansion: Over 50 Cats! Hemingway held his cats in high regard because of their independent attitude and their ‘do as they please’ lifestyle. He often named his cats for famous people, and many of the fifty cats that reside at the Hemingway House today are named for movie stars, authors, and characters from his books. A dominent gene has passed a distinct feature through the generations of cats: extra toes! About half the current resident cats have this characteristic known as ‘Polydactyl’. Usually cats have five front toes and four back toes, but these kitties have six toes and in some cases, even seven toes. The extra toes occur mostly on the front paws, where they look like thumbs, but they may appear on the back paws as well, making the back paws look unusually wide. This is sometimes referred to as ‘double pawed’.

Tarara, Cuba
Marina Puerto-Sol is located on Cuba's North Shore about 18km East of Havana. The fishing grounds are close to the Marina, which means there is less time lost travelling. As your guide I have fished this part of Cuba for the past twelve years and have an excellent success rate. I know the area and am very familiar with how weather and ocean conditions affect the behavior of each species of fish allowing guests to pursue the species most likely to be caught that day. I also personally supply many of the baits and equipment used. The fish most often caught are:
  • Blue Marlin Black Marlin (Castor) White Marlin (Flying Marlin) Sail Fish Tuna (Yellow Fin, Albacore, Bonita)

Els assassins
(The killers) L a porta del petit restaurant de Henry es va obrir i hi entraren dos homes. S'assegueren a la barra.
A fora s'anava fent fosc.
