This book contains four essays by Oscar Cullmann, Henry A. Wolfson, Werner Jaeger, and Henry J. Ingersoll Lectureship on "The Immortality of Man" was established at Harvard University by a bequest of Caroline Haskell Ingersoll in 1894. She thereby carried out the wishes of her father, George Goldthwait Ingersoll. The specificity of the topic considered in these yearly lectures appears unusual in the history of academic lectureships, and even more unusual in that history is the fact that the lecturers-from the first, George A.
