From the supplier: Proposed regulations addressing the tax treatment of accelerated death benefits (ADB), if adopted, would clarify and simplify tax status of such benefits. The regulations would recognize payments made because of death as ADBs and would not be considered income for tax purposes. People must be terminally ill to qualify for ADB status in the eyes of the IRS. For other benefits from such policies to be recognized as non-income they must be separately stated in a policy and financed with premiums other than those used in the life insurance contract.
