Fond memories come back to life
I had seen some My Little Margie reruns and then Gale Storm died recently so I looked on Amazon for DVDs and books and came across this and bought it.So many things about her life were fascinating--she juggled so many things at once that hearing her alcoholic battles seemed like that was how she somehow coped with fame, pushing herself in so many ways to be better and do better at her career, plus balancing her family life with her husband and four children.The book is interesting if you follow Hollywood and know some of the many people in her life during those days.That part did not interest me, but I was not an adult and don't remember some of them.The details about her acting and how she trained and got different jobs and parts was interesting, and the actors she worked with that I did remember brought back fond memories.

The most shocking part of her life, to me, was when her alcoholism was treated with aversion therapy.It was very revolting and sickening to hear her describe her treatments and yet what an amazing final outcome she had.I recommend this book to her fans and also to people who are struggling with addictions.She finally got hope and then freely gave it.

Brave Little Margie and Oh! Susanna... the survivor!
I have to confess that I was skeptical about reading a biograghy of Gale Storm, but two things drove me to do so. One, my father went to high school with her here in Houston Texas, when she was known as Jo Cottle.. she even wore his senior ring for a time. He was smitten.Second, I loved My Little Margie and Oh! Susanna! when I was growing up. Don't be put off by the beginning of this book by her jumping right in about her battle with alcoholism. It is to play an immensely important role for what you will read as you get into her story. This book also chronicles a time of TV in it's infancy and the role it came to play for all of us baby-boomers.She is detailed, precise in her recollection of famous people she worked with and even "tattles" a little about some of show business icons' ego trips. In short, you begin to really love this special lady as she writes from her heart and soul. She is honest and brave, as you will see when she details her final attempt to recover from the disease of alcoholism.It came close to killing her but she made it. I feel certain you will enjoy her story,learn a lot about early television, the price of celebrity and awarm journey of the heart. A terrific read!

It is the object of the following pages to exhibit, so far as observation may enable us, and in as brief a manner as possible, the connexion, if any, that exists between those terrific meteorological phænomena known as "revolving storms," and those more extensive and occult but not less important phænomena, "atmospheric waves."

To the great body of our seamen, whether in her Majesty's or the mercantile service, the subject can present none other than the most interesting features. The laws that govern the transmission of large bodies of air from one part of the oceanic surface to another, either in a state of rapid rotation or presenting a more or less rectilineal direction, must at all times form an important matter of inquiry, and bear very materially on the successful prosecution of the occupation of the voyager.

In order to place the subjects above alluded to in such a point of view that the connexion between them may be readily seen, it will be important to notice the principal phænomena presented by each. Without going over the ground so well occupied by those able writers on the subject of storms--Redfield, Reid, Piddington, and Thom--it will be quite sufficient for our present purpose simply to notice the essential phænomena of revolving storms as manifested by the barometer and vane. The usual indications of a storm in connexion with these instruments are the _falling_ of the barometer and the _freshening_ of the wind, and it is generally considered that a _rapid_ fall of the mercury in the hurricane regions invariably precedes the setting in of a storm.

There are three classes of phænomena that present themselves to an observer, according as he is situated _on_ the line or axis of translation, or _in_ either the right or left hand semicircle of the storm. These will be rendered very apparent by a little attention to the annexed engraving, fig. 1.

When Sheena Lassiter, a veterinarian surgeon, meets two men that she is attracted to she has no idea that they are brothers

After Travis O'Keefe and Sheena literally run into each other, they begin a whirlwind romance. But is it really love?With Travis' encouragement, Sheena leaves all she has in the east and travels to the west to be closer to him.Once there she discovers he's not really the kind and loving man she thought he was.

On the train trip to her new home, Sheena meets Rob Ivory.Rob just completed a six-year stint in the Navy and is headed to Arizona to join his brother on the ranch.Within moments they find themselves at ease with each other and sharing things they would never have considered sharing with a stranger.When she discovers she has left her purse on the train, Rob comes to her rescue and pays for her motel room and leaves.Travis comes barging in and suspects the worst and becomes angry.

Four days later Sheena wakes up in a hospital with amnesia after being hit by a truck trying to escape Travis' anger.Travis and Rob insist she join them on their ranch, where she will be their veterinarian.It seems Sheena has walked into the midst of a family rivalry.As she lives and works on the ranch, she comes to know both men better.Travis is forceful and demanding. Sheena knows she must stand up to him; "I'm not like the other women in your life, Travis...I won't be displayed like a conquered lamb.I won't let you make a fool of me again while you hand out the scraps of your affection..."

Gale Storm is an excellent writer and brings us a story of love and passion.The cover of "Memory's Desire" is exquisitely done and gives the reader a hint of what is inside. The characters come to life before the reader's eyes.The reader can't help but feel the passion between Travis and Sheena.I like this book and highly recommend it to those who enjoy a good love story. ...
