In a world fraught with suspicion between the Middle East and the West, it's hard to believe that one of the most influential newspapers in Yemen--the desperately poor, ancestral homeland of Osama bin Laden, which has made has made international headlines for being a terrorist breeding ground--would be handed over to an agnostic, Campari-drinking, single woman from Manhattan who had never set foot in the Middle East. Yet this is exactly what happened to journalist, Jennifer Steil.
 
Restless in her career and her life, Jennifer, a gregarious, liberal New Yorker, initially accepts a short-term opportunity in 2006 to teach a journalism class to the staff of The Yemen Observer in Sana'a, the beautiful, ancient, and very conservative capital of Yemen. Seduced by the eager reporters and the challenging prospect of teaching a free speech model of journalism there, she extends her stay to a year as the paper's editor-in-chief. But she is quickly confronted with the realities of Yemen--and their surprising advantages.  In teaching the basics of fair and balanced journalism to a staff that included plagiarists and polemicists, she falls in love with her career again. In confronting the blatant mistreatment and strict governance of women by their male counterparts, she learns to appreciate the strength of Arab women in the workplace. And in forging surprisingly deep friendships with women and men whose traditions and beliefs are in total opposition to her own, she learns a cultural appreciation she never could have predicted.  What’s more, she just so happens to meet the love of her life.

Cute little easy read for the men in your life
This book is a great one to give to all the men in your life as well as the men in your friends lives.
It is short quick read. The stories are cute and get the point across that we women want/need to be romanced and actually gives the guy examples on what to do.

This is a ARMY RESEARCH LAB ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND MD report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: Heavy physical demands characterize a large number of U.S. Army military occupational specialties (MOSs). About 45% of the Army's 277 MOSs require at least occasional lifting of 100 pounds or more and frequent lifting of 50 pounds or more. In an effort to reduce these physical requirements, we developed and tested an Army-specific ergonomic task analysis and redesign procedure. Five MOSs were selected for this feasibility project: Food Service Specialist, Medical Specialist, Motor Transport Operator, Tracked Vehicle Mechanic, and Chemical Operations Specialist. Literature review, numerous pilot investigations, and professional experience produced a multiphase process involving (a) review of military publications describing specific occupational tasks, (b) a questionnaire and structured interview with five junior and five senior soldiers working in the MOS, and (c) filming of tasks identified in the first two phases. Contact with military schools responsible for the MOS, project managers (individuals responsible for specific pieces of equipment or projects), or military construction (agencies responsible for new buildings) was found useful in all phases of the process. Potential redesign solutions could also be identified at all phases with soldiers themselves an especially good source of ideas. The feasibility of the potential redesigns was discussed with the schools, project managers, or military construction personnel, and specific solutions were targeted for testing in a usability analysis. ...
