Not a great book on Sinatra, but not a bad one either
There are probably several books that give a concise overview of Frank Sinatra's music.But are they always easy to find?I like this book, because it is small, compact, easy to read, and inexpensive (despite itsvery "British" point of view).I'm sure there are other (andpossibly better) books about Sinatra's music, but this one will do justfine.

Far from complete, the book represents one view from the UK.
Packaged the size of a CD, it is often found sold along with Mr. Sinatra's recordings in record bins.Far from "complete" as the title suggests, this pocket guide presents some new information for theSinatrafile, but primarily on British recordings (don't let the spellingsof some words throw you!).Curiously, the text includes a pointlesslisting of the songs on each and every recording, which undoubtedlycontributes to the overall number of pages.

The guide is organized (ororganised as the case may be) by general epochs documented in Frank's life. The verbage is supplemented by a traditional set of photos, but theirplacement is completely disjointed from the text, being interspersed in arandom, and somewhat discontinuous order.This throws the reader becausethere is no context developed for either interpreting or understanding thephotos.Some of them are even mislabeled which serves to diminish theauthor's credibility.

If you are looking for record prices or othermemorabilia information, you won't find it here.The back cover statesthat it is "the indispensible consumer's guide to the music of FrankSinatra", but there are much more thorough and complete collectionlistings available on the book market. ... Quickly put together
I believe this to be one of the countless books haphazardly thrown together following Frank Sinatra's death. There are numerous factual errors that show the author did not take the time to thoroughly research her subject. However, the text is not the main focus of this book. It relies heavily on pictures and for that reason I gave it 2 stars. There are some very nice pictures if you're looking for that, but if you want a more substantial biography then I suggest looking elsewhere. ... Read more
