5-0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud funny
I hadn't read any thing by Rita Rudner until I stumbled on her latest book.I decided to go back and read some of her earlier ones.Naked Beneath My Clothes is even funnier that her latest bookI Still Have It . . . I Just Can't Remember Where I Put It: Confessions of a Fiftysomething. Some of her references are a little dated, but since I'm about the same age as she is, I remembered well what she was talking about.

5-0 out of 5 stars Insightful humor
A wonderful combination of humor and wisdom.Naked Beneath My Clothes: Tales of a Revealing Nature

5-0 out of 5 stars It was LOL hillarious
This book was the first I've read by Rita and plan to read all of hers, it was so true to life and written with a great sense of humor. It was very fast reading and I wanted more and more. I would recommend it to all women if you need some laughs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud funny
Next to "1066 and All That", this may be the funniest book I've ever had the pleasure to read. When it came out it hooked me on Rudner, and as I await her new release it's about time I offered my opinion on this one. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ... Words can't describe it, you just need to read it. I don't laugh all that easily, but this is the kind of book that has me falling out of my chair ...

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME

Product Description
While there are people who actually embrace getting older (although we confess not to know any) most try to deny it. Rita Rudner is no exception. When she reached 50, she couldn't even bear to admit it: "It was more comfortable getting a laugh and telling people I was filthy than having to say the word fffiffffty," she writes. In her hysterically dead-on book I Still Have It...I Just Can't Remember Where I Put It, she relates her absurd adventures as a woman of a certain age navigating the strange and terrifyingly funny world of "near-sighted insights."

In chapters such as "Artificially Hip"; "Older Than Springtime, Younger Than Angela Lansbury"; "I Won't Blog, Don't Ask Me"; and "The Advantage of Vintage," Rudner tackles body issues, style, and technology, and looks at the wonders and surprises of life on the dark side of 50. So put on your bifocals and get ready to laugh. Just don’t blame Rita if your laugh lines become visibly deeper.

"Sexy deadpan is comedian Rita Rudner's trademark style, never more in evidence than in I Still Have It ... I Just Can't Remember Where I Put It ... Pure vaudeville, a kick at any age."—O, The Oprah Magazine ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh So Funny!
I often pick up books by comedians and are disappointed -- often something is lost in the translation from spoken word to page. But in Rita Rudner's latest book, that is far from the truth. I actually was not familiar with her at all (though I recognized her name) so I was taking a big chance...would I even like her humor at all?

I found that the book was not only hilarious, it was well-written. Funny, touching, honest... like a conversation with a dear friend who just happens to have an extremely overactive funnybone!

Forget Nora Ephron's "I Feel Bad About my Neck." Pick up this one instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars I still have it...I just don't know where I put it
If you have ever seen Rita Rudner in person or on TV you must get this book it is wonderful and very funny. I would recommended it to any one.

5-0 out of 5 stars I haven't read Rudner's work before.
It's a delightfully funny book. It's not so much a biography as a series of short essays reminiscent of her stage performance. It's rare that a book will actually make me laugh out loud, and this one did many times. It comes at a difficult time in my life, and I needed those laughs.

It's a short book and a very quick read.I recommend it to anyone needing to bring back a little humor to their lives.

3-0 out of 5 stars Hope she still does....
I'm not done reading, but so far little disappointed, I guess it wasn't as funny as I hoped it will be. Not bad tho as autobiography as I suppose it was intended to be.

2-0 out of 5 stars Boring
Although I love Rita's wit, I found her book quite boring. Just stick to the "stand-up" Rita. ... Read more

Product Description
What Happens in Vegas . . .

Rita Rudner’s offbeat and on-target humor has won her rave reviews, passionate fans, and a record-setting, headlining show on the Vegas strip. Now she unleashes her hilarious take on Sin City in this comic romp filled with gambling, strippers, double-crossing exes, swingers’ conventions, magicians, and everything else that’s supposed to stay in Vegas.

Our heroine is Allie Bowen, a small-town girl who took a gamble on the big city that’s finally beginning to pay off. At twenty-six, she has a plum job at Heaven, a wonderland of vice that is Las Vegas’s hottest casino and the most profitable hotel in the world. Enshrouded in man-made clouds, Heaven is the kind of place where the security guards hide their glocks beneath white robes and wings.

As vice president of public relations, Allie glides easily from bribing nosy news teams with Cher tickets to comping disgruntled guests with visits to all-you-can-eat buffets. To top it all off, Allie is dating the handsome and ambitious Christian Sacco, a successful casino executive with his eye on the president’s office. Christian may not be perfect, but he’s much more of a go-getter than Allie’s ex-husband, an out-of-work, nice guy/terrible magician named Barry Houdini.

Little does Allie know that Christian has a ruthless streak, and he has concocted a plot to rip off the casino. When the couple breaks up over a tiny argument (Christian thinks a threesome with his ex-girlfriend would be great; Allie disagrees), she unknowingly becomes the perfect fall girl for Christian’s scheme. Allie is about to learn that working at Heaven can really be hell.

Only in Vegas, baby. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rita is one funny woman
Rita Rudner is a terrific stand up commediene, however she is also an excellent fiction writer.Fine book, terrific price. What more can one ask?

5-0 out of 5 stars turning the tables
A real insight into the high flying world of Las Vegas Casino World, cleverly written and of course sharpe and funny . Definitely a very entertaining read .

2-0 out of 5 stars Unexpected profanity
The book contained more profanity than I expected to read in a book by Rita Rudner.I had expected more humor from a comedienne.Too bad, because I really like her humor.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable Read
I am one of those people that love the "image" of Vegas more than the reality. It is with delight that I watch shows like "Las Vegas" or films like Ocean's 11 (either version) and wallow in the fantasy world presented therein.
When I say Ms. Rudner on the recent Labor Day Telethon doing standup and saw Jerry Lewis hold up her book, I thought "why not?"
I did not know what to expect and was happily surprised.Turning the Tables offers the reader a fun story about Vegas and some of the happenings there.Casino politics, show biz wanna bees, dreamers, it is all there in a fun story whbere the good guys win.Boy, do I hope there is a sequel to this one!
If you want a light, but fun and exciting getaway read...this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Read
For anyone who has witnessed the excesses of sin city this book is spot on. Humorous, and a great, FUN, read! The writing is far superior to the major bestsellers that I have read (ie Danielle Steele). Reading Turning the Tables is just like going to a wonderfully, light-hearted film! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the funny Ms. Rudner! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I am Delighted!
I ordered the cassette version of Tickled Pink, because I have a (older) car that still has a cassette! It came, by mail fast and in perfect shape. Thanks! I am really glad that I could find it at a reasonable price.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Delightful surprise
I had long admired RR as a comedian and was fortunate to see her show live in Las Vegas last year, where she was gracious afterward to meet fans and sign a newer book.I received this book as a gift a few days ago..it was a delightful surprise.

The story grabbed my interest from the first page and didn't let go.It is a quick read but gives a good bit of insight into the world of comedy (or at least the way it was a few years ago) as well as the Hollywood of 10-15 years ago.I don't know how accurate it is.. but it "felt" authentic. The relationships among the females in the story is definitely authentic; no matter what one's profession or social standing, women still relate to each other the same way and RR captures this succinctly.

I recommend this book highly for its entertainment value as well as some very good insights into the human condition. It is definitely worth your time.

3-0 out of 5 stars mildly amusing
I like Rita Rudner's humor, but it doesn't seem to translate well to fiction. Or maybe just not this piece of fiction.

Two young women, a dancer and a model, meet in a women's hotel in New York. The story follows them over several years as their dreams start coming true, are shattered, and change.

Not a horrible story, but not great, either.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tickled Pink
I enjoyed this book thoroughly very real and humorous , never a dull moment .I definitely had some laugh aloud moments and also serious ones .

5-0 out of 5 stars Thats what Friends are for
This book details the friendship of Mindy Solomon and Ursela Duran.

They met eachother in a boarding house in NYC in 1981 and quickly became very close. Both had very interesting childhoods and treated eachother more like sisters. Ursela had come to NYC to be a model and was getting noticed by the time that she and Mindy met. Mindy however wanted to be a dancer.

They both worked on their craft. However Ursela's mother started noiseing her self into her daughters life and actually helped her be more famous because she did not like the friendship of her daughter and Mindy.

For a while they did not see eachother, but kept in contact. Mindy however went from being a dancer to a comedian after an engery she sustained during a performance forced her to give up dancing.

They remained close over the years helping eachother when things were rough (such as when Uresla eloped with a comedian and quickly divorced her drug doing cheating husband) Then Mindy and her boyfriend work on a project based on Mindy's comady act that Ursela gets the part for. After this Mindy does not want to see either one of them again and actually becomes pregnant with the baby of Ursela's ex-husband to get back at her.

They both go their own seperate ways but after Ursela gets into a car accident on the way to her mother's house( she had an affair with and married a Hollywood director) Mindy decides to mend fences and they become friends again. ... Read more

Excerpt: Nancy Jane Kulp (August 28, 1921 February 3, 1991) was an American actress best known as "Miss Jane Hathaway" on the popular television series The Beverly Hillbillies. Kulp was born into an upper middle-class family in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She obtained her bachelor's degree in journalism from Florida State University and worked on a master's degree in English and French at the University of Miami. She left the University of Miami to volunteer for United States Navy service in World War II, for which she received several decorations, including the American Campaign Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. She moved to Hollywood, California, to work in a studio publicity department, but director George Cukor convinced her that she should work in front of the camera. Thus began a career as a character actress. Her movie debut was in 1951 in The Model and the Marriage Broker. She appeared in subsequent films, including Shane, Sabrina, and A Star is Born. After working in television on The Bob Cummings Show, she returned to movies in Forever, Darling, The Three Faces of Eve, The Parent Trap and The Aristocats. In 1955 she joined the cast of The Bob Cummings Show (aka Love That Bob) with Bob Cummings, portraying pith-helmeted neighborhood bird-watcher Pamela Livingstone.
