Product Description
As a minister, counselor, and teacher, Mary Manin Morrissey has inspired tens of thousands of people to reach higher in life than they ever believed possible. Her message is revolutionary: God has designed each one of us for greatness. And her warmth, candor, and conviction bring this message alive in the heart and mind of everyone who hears her.

As children we instinctively know that we are destined to live great lives. As adults we recognize that our true greatness is expressed in our relationships: in deep, fulfilling partnership, vibrant marriage, abiding closeness with children, parents, and friends. Yet fostering such bonds — even with those we cherish most — can be one of the greatest challenges we will ever face.

In No Less Than Greatness Mary affirms that love is our birthright — and learning to love well is life’s greatest lesson. She shows that we are not alone in our search. When we learn to ask for and listen to divine guidance, we access a different kind of wisdom, a new kind of hope.

Beginning with her own surprising story, Mary shows how ordinary, struggling, or even estranged relationships are a curriculum for learning love, and how our relationships — and we ourselves — can be transformed.

Within these pages Mary provides a step-by-step guide to the spiritual principles that bring love into our lives. Her powerful affirmations, meditations, and exercises are designed to help you:

• reveal your true self — your most precious gift to others
• consciously design the relationships you most want
• open yourself to partnering with God
• discover the power of unreasonable giving
• achieve intimacy by speaking from your heart
• heal the hurt in difficult relationships
• awaken your love through simple daily acts

Let Mary Manin Morrissey show you that you already have what it takes to create what you desire most — and how, with God’s help, even imperfect relationships can lead to perfect love.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great guide to fixing struggling relationships
I make no bones about it - I believe Mary Morrissey is one of the most gifted and wisest teachers of our time. You can go to 100 great authors who will motivate and inspire you, but Mary takes it a step further with truly empathetic understanding and solid, workable action steps to actually create the change you seek in your life (instead of just reading about it and sticking with the same life).

Her book, No Less Than Greatness: The Seven Spiritual Principles That Make Real Love Possible is all about cleaning up our love relationships so that they're more satisfying and gratifying to both parties involved. She's been there and she knows how difficult it can seem to be - you want something more or different that your spouse or lover or child can't seem to get on board with. The 7 principles she teaches, however, begin to close that gap and heal the hurt. These principles I've applied again and again in differing circumstances and I've got to admit - I'm even surprised at how quickly the energy shifts in a more positive direction!

I highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatness is self-introspection & to be totally naked
I applaud Manin (author's middle name is 'man in') for at least being PARTIALLY NAKED to her feelings with examples from her own life as on p.257 when she saw a bumper sticker that read: "We come into the world naked, wet and hungry, and it goes downhill from there."

On p.18 (my number again) "I'm a person who discourages foul language and lackadaisical hygiene in my children...Pretending to be someone other than yourself only broadens the distance between the person you are and the one with whom you're trying to establish closeness." The former part of her quote, although a suggestion from Manin, is really conditions she imposed on her children. Thus Not Unconditional Love.

Manin chose to have a soulmate named Ed whose courtship on p.175 of "cards...flowers...fabulous visions he spun for our future (began backing off)...I on the other hand, had our future planned. I wanted a committed relationship, I wanted marriage, to build a family life together" That last statement is full of Conditions and Wants. To be truly naked is to tell about one's own life including naturally sex. As if Manin had no sex with Ed before and after their mutual second marriage.

No wonder on p.202 Manin has an excellent story of an ex-wife selling her ex-husband's brand-new Jaguar for $50 to snub him.

On p.226 Manin gives the only example of her unconditional love. She took in a bag lady to live-in with her family for 6 months and for the only time was rewarded with an inner whisper: "Well done, good and faithful servant." That story by itself is worth reading the book.

Manin quotes on p.132 a story about Mother Teresa about her relationship with God.
"So, when you're praying, what do you say?" Mother Teresa replied, "I don't say anything to God. I listen."
"And what does God say to you?" Mother Teresa answered: "He doesn't say anything to me. He listens."

In the book's epilogue, Manin quotes from a Sufi mystic who posed a puzzle to mankind:

"...man has come into the world for a particular task, and that is his purpose. If he doesn't perform it, he will have done nothing."

So please listen everybody, the puzzle has been solved and it's every one's own "fall from heaven story" as described in 'all my reviews' for The Book of EST (or The BEST). So let me give 3 more examples of that.

The "fall from heaven story" of my ex-wife Annie. When she was a kid, her school bus had a new driver and he had a hard time finding where to drop off Annie and the driver got lost and she was the last one to be dropped off.

In retrospection, Annie chooses to live a life of accumulated knowledge and believes in methodology and that almost every one else is below her because of their unpreparedness and she's proud to be a member of MENSA. One of the reason she divorced me was that she didn't want to give up her materialistic pursuit. So even after she received more than $1 million by selling her condo loft this year and working at her 6 figures paying job, Annie still can't find happiness and is constantly worried by preparing about her unknown future that she's missing completely the present as a present.

At the same time, Annie is not really materialistic since she lives in a mess of an apartment & never asked for any superfluous jewelry or dead flowers & she even borrowed her wedding gown from one of her best girl friend Hope. Hope was the 2nd couple who divulged their fall from heaven stories in front of me. Hope's story is that she was 2nd born. She explained it as 2nd class citizen, e.g. as 2nd born she inherited all her elder sister's clothes. Between 11-17 year-old Hope's life was a blank.

Hope decided to stay overnight at our house & toward midnight she told me what she did when 11-17. As she said she did all the things others did in their fall from heaven, such as stealing things from classmates and lying and playing pranks on them, etc...

On the 2nd day, in the afternoon when I asked again "What would you do, if you knew you are going to die tomorrow?" I noticed that Hope's answer shifted & she finally said that she experienced ENLIGHTENMENT by letting her past go & realized what it is to become UNFIXED or TOTAL FREEDOM. In the morning I noticed she was very pensive.

On the other hand her husband left on the 1st day after dumping his own fall from heaven story. He said that when he was a kid one day he noticed a limousine in his alley & he promised himself to be rich. Hope mentioned that her husband is the only male descendant from 3 generations. In other word, unlike Hope who felt as a 2nd class citizen, her husband had the love of 3 generations and still wanted more of something else.

As every one can see, like the 1st couple's stories in my The BEST review, "fall from heaven story" not only shows the particular task or experience one is born for, it also shows the karmic compatibility of any growing couple. E.g. if the role were reversed, Hope will be on her knees thanking Almighty or heaven for all the loves she received from 3 generations.

In a future review, I will present 2 "fall from heaven stories" where one can't find what one did wrong as PRE-incarnation. Since time doesn't exit & is a result of our own limited & a biased perspective, notice I never use the word RE-incarnation which is a linear & an incorrect perspective inherent in Buddhist sacred texts and the original unedited old & new Christian testaments/bibles. In reality all incarnations exist in parallel only in the present. Past & future is an illusion to facilitate us to experience cause & effect. The only way to break out of that is to be unconditional love and be the creator and cause of everything and let others experience and display the effects.

Manin ends her epilogue with "Go in love."

When Manin can proclaim "BE in LOVE" by finding her own "fall from heaven story" and sink with it all the way, then she will understand the meaning of "BELOVE" everything unconditionally, and "BE UNCONDITIONAL love", instead so can every body else who reads 'All My Reviews'.

3-0 out of 5 stars LIFE AND LOVE ARE WHATEVER WE CHOOSE TO MAKE IT.
When I first read this book, it seemed much like my ownbiography would read except I did not find the ministry, but Buddhism.I came to the conclusion many years ago that if life was ever going to get any better, I alone would have to make it happen.By working from sunup to sundown, I raised three daughters entirely on my own without financial help from any other source, now hold three diplomas (business, education and psychology) and have found someone to share my life with who makes all the hard work, pain, sorrow and loss of the past worth while. As the author so poignantly points out, each of us truly does have within us, the power to change our lives; all it takes is courage, perserverance and a lot of hard work to make it happen.

The author does not, however, factor into the equation of relationships, such obstacles as alcoholism or abuse, which occurred not only in my first marriage but are factors in the break-down of many other relationships. From a professional point of view and from first-hand experience, I can attest that factors such as these make it virtually impossible to find "perfect love in an imperfect relationship" particularly if the other party is unwilling to admit there is a problem in the first place, or is completely unwilling to change. For this reason, this book lost a couple of stars in the rating.

As this book reminds us, there is no question that from the day we are born we are all destined to live great lives. For the author, God seems to have been the guiding light; however, I believe we must each find our own guiding light and take strength from whatever "Power" it is we, personally, believe in.The book is worth reading and readers will likely find it quite inspirational.

5-0 out of 5 stars Having Meaningful Relationships
Since reading "Building Your Field of Dreams" four years ago my life has changed tremendously. I rediscovered my lost dreams, and my life's purpose. Without that book, I am not sure where I would be in my life today.

So it was with great excitement that I started reading Mary's new book. For the first time in my life I read a book in one sitting! I thought I was going to receive tools that I could give my brother so that we could have the relationship I have been yearningfor. But instead, what the book is about is me, and what I can do from within to create better, more intimate relationships.

One of the things I appreciate the most about "No Less Than Greatness" is how it is written. Often when I read a book of this stature, the concepts presented are heavy and require deep consideration. The concepts Mary offer, though no less important, are written in a way that are understandable and do-able. It is refreshing to read a book that is concise and written simply so that I can start immediately putting into practice the lessons I am being offered. Mary gives practical 'exercises' at the end of each chapter, making it easy for the reader to refer back to. She also offers very helpful examples and ideas on how I can make small changes in my actions that will make a big difference in my relationships, and also how I feel about myself.

Thank you, Mary, for your consistent endeavor in learning so that others, like myself, may learn from you. The people in my life are what I value the most, and now I have something practical and easy, but meaningful to refer to so that I can make a difference in all of my relationships, and therefore, have a richer and more rewarding life. I will refer to this book on a regular basis whenI need an idea on how to change a circumstance in my life, or if I just need to be reminded that I am walking alone in my journey.

I look forward to sending "No Less Than Greatness" to my family and friends.

I highly recommend this book for everyone, no matter what your spirituality is, or how good or bad your realtionships are - they can always be better! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ADORABLE but not saccharine
This is a great book for the toddler-preschool set - and above! The pictures are simple but effective and well-done.I'm able to move the book to go along with the actions (like jumping and running) which really gets a good reaction from my 15mo old twins. This is one of the few books they will routinely sit still for the whole thing.I've read a LOT of childrens' books and there is a fine line between sweet and saccharine and this book falls squarely on the sweet side.I like books like "Guess How Much I Love You" and "Babycakes" as much as anyone - maybe more - but sometimes they're just a bit much, and this is a really nice alternative, especially at bedtime. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The best yet!
In my opinion this is her best book yet! I love the way she incorporates the environment into the story. I love most of the characters in this heart warming story. It is really two stories in one. One feels as if they are a part of the family! I am not a writer, but Di has an unique way of writing and you just cannot put this book down. You, Me and Morrissey is a collection of autobiographical short stories capturing snapshots of love, loss, bigotry, violence, artistic birth, and mental illness. Each story is set to the soundtrack of a Smiths or Morrissey title or lyric, and documents the trials of youth and adulthood, and how the music and the ever-present specter of Morrissey influenced and altered the paths of the authors forever. From 1980's humdrum Texas towns, to a San Francisco meeting with Morrissey himself, the stories revolve around the ups and downs of balancing an art-driven life with the insanities of day to day living in the "real world". 2-0 out of 5 stars Can someone help here?
I got the Kindle sample of this book and found the first story to be completely unreadable due to the lack of any capital letters in the whole thing. The second story (only a few pages included in the sample) is capitalized normally.

Is this (a) an author's affectation that reappears continuously throughout the book, (b) a one-off stunt for the opening chapter or (c) a Kindle formatting error?

I've been a Smiths/Moz fan since "Hand in Glove" so I know what an affectation is, but that doesn't mean I like them all.I can handle an unnecessary hearing aid or a bunch of gladioli, but I can't read a poorly formatted text.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Started Something I Could Finish
"You, Me and Morrissey" is a glorious time capsule of a time both exhilarating and terrifying.Throughout each vignette you sense the oppressive dread of South Texas combined with the shimmering hope contained in Morrissey's lyrics that someone is out there who understands.

You don't have to be a Smiths nut to appreciate the book, but it certainly helps.Like no other lyricist in modern memory, Steven Patrick Morrissey has the unique ability to cut to the heart of a matter with ruthless precision. As with many children of the 80s, Nasseri and Starr effectively relate the impact that music had on their development.

Sometimes chilling, often hilarious and always interesting, "You, Me and Morrissey" is a must read for both Smiths fans and disaffected youth of all ages.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good start, but disappointing overall
I absolutely adored the description of the author's near-death experience. It is one of the best I have ever read. However, I don't think the techniques she recommends for replicating one's own NDE will work to the extent implied in the title and intro.Sure, maybe one can have an out-of-body experience in a dream, but that is a far different experience than the one she had when she "died," when she went to a supreme heavenly place and felt total joy and bliss.I thought the connection she made between the two was a bit of a stretch. ... Wire I love Janet Evanovich, but sometimes her predictable format and low-brow humor get tiresome. "Wire" solves those problems for me. Product Description

Alternately idolized and derided, Morrissey is perhaps the only English pop star to have successfully created his own culture: an eccentric world of foibles, insuppressible opinions, and bizarre obsessions. He claims to have loved rarely, and despite leading an intensely private life, his sexuality has been the subject of acres of press coverage. The Smiths were one of the last of the great British rock bands, their wry, disaffected tunes sung by Morrissey in a haunting, melancholic voice. After the Smiths disbanded in 1987, Morrissey went on to a successful solo career. In this biography, complete with a discography, David Bret talks to friends and colleagues about one of music’s most iconic and enigmatic figures.

1-0 out of 5 stars a sad, sad man
Any author who prints his own review in response to perceived "attacks" from his audience has completely lost objectivity.I haven't read the book, I will not buy the book, and I do hope the author will consider another career. To insult an artist's fan base makes me wonder why the author felt so strongly about his subject to dedicate the time to complete a book.Reader meet author, indeed."Pasty-faced geeks who look like a good feed would kill them, bespectacled freaks who try to look like him and who are only truly happy when they are ill. Young men who swear they are straight, but go home and masturbate to the sound of The Smiths."I, by the way, am none of the above.Screwball.

2-0 out of 5 stars not very good
Beinga huge morrissey fan, i was excited to read this book. Unfortunately, it was not a good pick. There is some information that was new, but mostly it was uninteresting and boring to follow.I do not reccomend this book. Try another Moz book!

1-0 out of 5 stars Dreadful
There is little I can add about this dreadfully written and obviously lacking in research cut and paste 'biography' that hasn't already been said by the previous two reviewers, except to say that are both absolutely correct in their observations.

Along with all of the already mentioned faults in this book there are a number of factual inaccuracies (Gary Numan as the frontman for Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark? - I don't think so), no involvement or interviews with anyone remotely close to the book's subject and the irritating and persistent looming presence of the author's ego, all of which combine to make this an unsatisfactory read for even the most casual of Morrissey fans.

As one review notes, the book tells us more about the author than it does about the subject. Unfortunately the things it does reveal about the author are things which any well-balanced person would probably prefer to keep quiet and which I, as a reader, would definitely prefer not to know.

3-0 out of 5 stars You'll learn a lot about Barbara and David Bret (the author)!
This wasn't awful...you will learn a bit more about Morrissey, but there was a lot of annoying filler in between. The author is obsessed with letting people know that he's quite fluent in French and proceeds to tell you all the translations he's made for Barbara, that some play that Barbara was in had a character named afer HIM, that one time Morrissey went looking for him and wife (possibly while watching Barbara) etc etc. He tries to make it subtle...but it's obvious and just annoying. One of the chapter names is in French, which is ridiculous because the reference is to a French book...so even if you understand French a bit, you won't get what Bret is talking about. All of this adds up and becomes incredibly distracting.

As I said before, you do get a bit of a Morrissey overview, I'm not sure how accurate it all is but he does give some good Moz quotes here and there...although 99% all appear to come from the magazine Les Inrockuptibles. He also goes over a few of Morrissey's songs and albums, but I was a bit dissapointed with his analyses quite a few times. For example, Bret calls "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get" a love song. This is possible, but the more common view is that this song is about trying to freak out Mike Joyce...no mention whatsoever about this from Bret.

I give it 3 stars because it's not an awful biography, and the writing isn't too bad...but Bret comes off as a pretentious, annoying guy who likes to blow his own trumpet way too overtly. I'd give it 2 1/2 if possible. ... Read more

Wish more of the Gundam mangas made their way over here. If you love Gundam and like manga, pick this up. :]

5-0 out of 5 stars I disagree
I thought this manga was very well done, the artwork is great and if you are a fan of the UC timeline you don't want to miss this! You get to see the very first use of the RX-79G Gundam used in the 08th MS team.

1-0 out of 5 stars Graphic Novel
It's interesting to read this popular series just to see what people see in it.However, after going through the experience, what a waste of time! The story line is poor, the graphics are poor.Reading backwards is okay, but the flow of the art work, as it is, is interrupted by the fact that English is read from left to right. Too bad.Much better material is available. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We are overdue for this message
Rossa Forbes is a contributor to Goddess Shift: Women Leading for a Change

A self-help manual for psychosis, this book has got to be unique. As a parent, I am not the intended target audience for this book. This book is aimed mainly at young people in their late teens or twenties who have suffered a mental health breakdown and now have to pick up the pieces, usually under the anxious eyes of their families. I gifted this book to my son and have been stealing time with it ever since.

I am relieved that this book was written because, to be selfish about it, it makes my job easier. The chapters' authors say what I have been saying to my son, but the difference is, they've been there and they are opinionated about the role of the family as a force for both good and evil. For every mother and father who is wondering why their child is still at home on the couch after several years, the advice given here will cause you to cheer. You don't have to risk the high Expressed Emotion of clumsily nagging your child to do something with his life. Your relative is finally hearing it from people who've been there at that age: "Get a job or go back to college," "realize that your family may not be the best support for you at this stage," "you're probably spending too way much time with "mother," "learn to set limits," etc. etc. etc.

It is clear from this book that whoever has suffered a psychotic break has been victimized on some level. The book urges people to acknowledge this, but move on, even if it means distancing yourself from family. It also lists ways in which families can abuse their powers over the individual, sometimes unintentionally, other times not. I, for one, am delighted that my relative is hearing it like it is. This book is written by people who were labeled, medicated, and had a rocky start, but they figured it out and moved on. Others may disagree, but I am of the opinion that most parents want their children to be independent - one of the greatest gifts that a parent can give a child is to encourage the child stand on his or her own two feet. Often, though, the labeled child is overly attached to the parents, unconsciously feeling that he or she must please us, appease us, and generally be there for us. This self-sacrificing is a problem and most likely the reason for the label in the first place.

I would love it if my son began to mentally distance himself from me as one of the many steps on his road to independence. He needs reinforcement from outsiders. Positive views about psychosis and mental breakdowns and what to do about it are hard to find in the literature. This kind of advice has generally been promulgated by doctors and psychologists, not consumers. Dr. E. Fuller Torrey has had a monopoly on this kind of advice for far too long. He is bleak. Do you want bleak for your relative? It is time for a fresh perspective that empowers the person to heal himself. Do yourself and your relative a favor by buying this book and do let others know about it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superguides: Ice Skating
I loved this book! I think that every skater should read this book! I fell in love with skating though this book. Of course, I liked skating before I read this book, but this book showed me that skating was for me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Techniques and Advanced Skills
Skating on Ice began hundreds of years ago as a way to get from one place to another. The focus of ice skating today is definately more for entertainment, however natural ice rinks form in countries with exceptionally cold winter weather and you can skate outdoors for exercise.

In Toronto and Canada, large areas are flooded during the winter months to make rinks and skating is one of the most popular sports in Canada now. Some of the first World Championships were held in outdoor rinks and for me, ice skating outdoors is ideal. I dream of skating down a frozen lake and did skate as a child on a frozen lake once.

My holiday dreams for the winter are now focusing on a place with an outdoor rink. I say all this to say: Introducing a child to ice skating can give them much pleasure later in life. My parents would drop my brother and I off at the ice rink and we never wanted to leave. My brother taught me to skate backwards which I was very proud of!

This is a sport the whole family can enjoy if parents can find the time to take their children for this fun activity. In this wonderful introduction to skating, children will learn what they will need to be comfortable and warm. I didn't realize an ice-dance blade was different from a free-skating blade. Now, that is information I could have used as a child.

A Warming up section shows children how to stretch to prevent injuries. If you remember your first steps onto the ice, the next section will be very valuable. What happens if your child falls in the middle of the ice rink? If no one is nearby...the picture they show is fine, but if skaters are whizzing by...I would tell children to keep their fingers folded in as they try to get back up. Sometimes you can get knocked back over just as you are getting up, has happened. ;>

This section shows children how to step out onto the ice, how to fall safely, do dips and how to scull. Skating forwards is the basics, but they go into Crossovers, the snowplow, stopping by using a T-stop and a hockey stop. Skating backwards and not falling is exhilirating!

The step-by-step intructions are all illustrated by real skaters. How to place your weight and on what leg is very important for balance. Did you know that edges are the foundation of ice skating? This is what allows skaters to skate curves and circles. Once the forward and backward skating has been mastered, you can move on to turns and then to jumping on ice. I would recommend ice skating classes for sure, however this book will allow the skater to read all about what they are learning in class. It seems to me it would be difficult to learn to do jumps from a book and I don't recommend it.

They do say: "Seek professional coaching before you attempt any of the moves." A glossary gives insight into the language of ice skating. You can look up a sit spin or a waltz hold or even a bunny hop. All I have to say is...why am I here writing a review when I could be skating. ;> I have my eye on a 3-way convertible skate by Hypno (Fila Manufacturer) that has ice blades, inline skates and a boot that detaches. It looks perfect for outdoor sports when you want to put on your shoes and then go outside. You just snap on the wheels or ice blades. If anyone has them, write me and tell me if they are comfortable.

Enjoy this book, it is so informative and will really get you or your children out on the ice! There is nothing cuter than "mini-skaters" with their parents out on the ice. My dad used to skate with us as children. I do miss all those fun times, but that must be why we have children so we can relive our own childhood through the eyes of a child. This is an exciting book on a sport so many love.

I highly recommend this book to any child or adult who wants to find out the basics and all the extras of skating.
