Product Description
From soldier to Washington insider; from a prisoner who preferred the walls of a prison rather than the betrayal of his principles; to a writer and top radio personality, G. Gordon Liddy is a hero to some, a villain to others, but always an enigma.

In 1980, G. Gordon Liddy shocked, surprised, and, ultimately, delighted the world with his vivid, brutally honest, and controversial autobiography, Will. A number one national bestseller in both hardcover and paperback, Will has stood the test of time like few other books. With over 1,000,000 copies in print, it is nothing less than a quintessential American biography-a classic story of a life interestingly led.

Now available in hardcover for the first time in over fifteen years, and updated to bring his amazing story to the present day, G. Gordon Liddy's Will is sure to remain an inspiring and necessary volume for generations to come.
Amazon.com Review
G. Gordon Liddy's autobiography is as spookily fascinating now as it was in 1980, especiallythe memorably unvarnished depiction of his early years.Listening with admiration to Adolf Hitler on the radio, seeking tofree himself from "disabling emotionalism" by slaughteringchickens, young Gordon must have made quite an impression on theneighbors. The army, the F.B.I., the Watergate scandal, and jail arecovered with equal pungency: you have to admire the author'sferocious candor, whatever you think of his values. This newedition features a 1996 postscript as combative as the main text. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Disclosure
An excellent and very credible recount of how our government has worked in the past and what is continuing to go on now behind the scenes under the noses of our "intellectual" media.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative But Never Boring
"Will" written by G.Gordon liddy is a tell alot but don't bore me story of the life of G.Gordon Liddy. I didn't really know who he was...until now. Mr. Liddy is definitely someone I want on my "friendlies" list...

5-0 out of 5 stars WILL, the Autobigraphy of G. Gordon Liddy

The authentic story a historic American figure. There are many lessons in these pages that one can apply to thier own life reagradless of wether or not they agree with Mr. Liddy's choices. The ability to choose a course and see it through without hesitiation or whinning is a lost and dying art in this country. I hghly recommend it.

I was also extremely pleased with the price and quality that Amazon provided on this purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars DRIVING THE LEFT OUT OF THEIR MINDS
G. Gordon Liddy drives the liberals as batty as Rush, because he was an official Republican "bad guy," the man behind Watergate. So what does he do? He drives a fancy sports car with the license plates, "H20GATE." Liddy, like Oliver North, makes no effort to hide behind his official actions, and was elevated to high status by the opinion of millions of American citizens that what he did was actually good. In Liddy's case, people view Watergate as something Kennedy and Johnson had done, and in light if the "civil war" atmosphere in the streets, and the desire not to let the Kennedys steal another election, the break-in was almost justified.
Liddy plays to highly macho sensibilities, is extremely sexual, loves guns, has a Pattonesque view of warfare, and takes on a conspiratorial, partisan view of the Clintons. He is nobody's fool, speaking several languages, and his education is first rate. He also has his pet peeves, such as "prison guards," who he has low regard for because they were his overseers when he served time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Better to remain silent and be thought a fool . . .
This has to be one of the funniest, yet saddest, books I have ever read. Many pages into the book I was certain this was a self-deprecating satire. Surely no one would admit to tying themselves to a tree in a lightning storm to overcome fears. Surely no one would honestly describe choosing his wife for eugenic reasons. Surely no one would not only screen Leni Riefenstahl's "Triumph of the Will," extolling the Third Reich in the White House but praise the way the Nazi's could move a crowd. As he goes on and on painting a vivid picture of someone not one but several sandwiches short of a picnic, the old adage popped into my head. "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt." Of course he is obviously no fool; he is much closer to a psychopath. That's what makes this so sad a story--that it was actually published for everyone to see. Just one more example of the insanity, the perversity and the criminality of the Nixon White House. Oh, by the way, I did not buy the book; I wouldn't do that. I got it from the library. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars domestic terrorist
Liddy was a sickly, asthmatic child when he grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey, in the 1930s. The town was full of ethnic Germans who idolized Hitler. Liddy was made to salute the Stars and Stripes Nazi-style by the nuns at his school; even now, he admits, "at assemblies where the national anthem is played, I must suppress the urge to snap out my right arm." His beloved German nanny taught him that Hitler had -- through sheer will-power -- "dragged Germany from weakness to strength."This gave Liddy hope "for the first time in my life" that he too could overcome weakness. When he listened to Hitler on the radio, it "made me feel a strength inside I had never known before," he explains. "Hitler's sheer animal confidence and power of will [entranced me]. He sent an electric current through my body." He describes seeing the Nazis' doomed technological marvel the Hindenberg flying over New Jersey as an almost religious experience. "Ecstatic, I drank in its colossal power and felt myself grow. Fear evaporated and in its place came a sense of personal might and power." G Gordon liddy has praised Hitler. So if we are going to play this game, then I suppose that means we should associate McCain with Hitler love? The Fuhrer was G Gordon Liddy's first political hero.

So there goes that arugment...

5-0 out of 5 stars great book ....
my kids are experiencing liberalism today ... they can't go outside without being yelled at from somebody for something (scooters, climbing trees, toy guns etc) ....
and we wonder why kids today sit in front of computer and play video games!!!
they can't do anything else !!!!

Great book but sad book ....always good to know there are others out there that get it ...

2-0 out of 5 stars Some times Liddy Makes a Great Deal of Sense
The fact that Liddy, a certified psychotic, self-immolator, convicted felon and Radio Talk show host (I think somehow these are all redundant), can get a voice in the national dialogue is proof that freedom of speech in our country somehow must actually work.

But more importantly, either Liddy makes a great deal of sense sometimes; or I have been drinking too much of the "Talk Radio" Kool aide. As but one example, his discussion in chapter six on the differences between the sexes in which he advances the notion "that it is idiotic to accept the idea that the only difference between men and women is their plumbing and that plumbing is of no significance," is priceless.

And although there is very little else that I agree with in this book (certainly Blacks were not free when he was a kid), Liddy still "tells it like it is" and is nobody's fool. What this book shows, as much as anything else, is that maybe in the end it is not Liddy that is the only psychotic, but also the twisted and contradictory rules of our culture.

5-0 out of 5 stars America better be careful with their diminishing FREEDOM
This book clearly shows how over time Liberals are removing one freedom after another. They remove a little at a time so as not to be noticed. Then years pass and we realize "what happened"?This is why it is so important to fight everyday for your freedom and to not give up any part of it. Americans better realize what the process is and how to spot it and stop it. Not only that, but to correct past curtailments on Freedom....If we Americans do not protect Freedom? We will have no more left...A good story on how not doing anything about constant infringements on Freedom is below:

"In Germany, they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist;
And then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist;
And then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew;
And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up."

2-0 out of 5 stars Really interesting guy writes dull book
Why did I buy this book?I don't know.I did want to read "Will" but this is now hard to find and appears to be out of print. Why? I don't know.It is interesting to note his selected problems facing society and his solutions.Particularly amusing were his views on global warming and fuel efficient cars.True it is his right to drive a bunch of gas guzzlers but this was written over 5 years ago.I wonder what he would say now that gas is going to $4.00 a gallon.Your kids school stinks?, no problem, put them in private school. That's great if you can afford it.Guns, the military and relationships are addressed with their inherent problems.I was hoping for more tangible suggestions or ideas to work with here.Sadly, they did not appeal to me and appeared shallow, not well thought out and had little relavent substance.Don't get me wrong,he does present some good concerns which I do tend to agree with but he could have presented them more comprehensively.I respect his longing for the old days but the world is truly a different place now and his proposals just won't cut it with all the damn liberals today. His dislike of government is made quite clear and his views of less control, taxation and restriction over the population is about the only thing I can wholeheartedly agree with. There is also a chapter on Watergate with clarifications of some issues with it.It didn't seem to belong here and had trouble wondering why it was included.Plus, does anybody care about Watergate anymore? If your a Liddy fan then I guess this one is for you but his comparisons of the country then and now are quaint but on the whole, don't inspire at all with views that are sadly out of date. Save your money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive - as only Liddy can
Gordon Liddy offers a tremendous resource in workplace, home and personal security with Fight Back.

Of particular interest was the section on Personal Security. While comprised primarily of common sense details and specifics, it serves as a step-by-step blueprint for areas that may have been overlooked due to the myopia of daily living.

With its impressive array of co-authors, Fight Back is a "must have" for security conscious Americans everywhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK
Liddy does a great job in letting you know not only what's at jeopardy but why.He spells out what a terrorist will strike, and how and why a terrorist will go after certain things. It's not a matter of if terrorist will strike, but when and where.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This book offers nothing that hasn't been written elsewhere. I was very surprised how basic and rudimentary the information in this book is considering the authors experience.

I would pass on this one. Unless you know absolutely nothing about security you won't pick up any new information from this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Redundant, yes, but required
I've read some of the reviews and I picked up on a couple of themes: 1) Redundant information, available on the web; and, 2) designed for CEOs.

Both can be true if you limit the information that way, but I'd ask two questions.
How many people have read http://ready.gov?
How many people are aware that the same situational awareness that applies to CEOs applies to all of us?

This book doesn't claim to be the "be all, end all" of personal security or define everything applicable to everyone, as is evidenced by bibliography and references. It defines threats, backgrounds and considerations for personal preparedness. It suggests that we are the first responders for our own personal safety, suggests the same prudent recommendations apply to non-CEOs, and provides appropriate responses to known threats.

My only regret is that practice is not stressed as much as awareness.Shelter in place covers what is required, but does not seem to stress the drill. How long will it take you to seal off?Did you miss anything? What personal modifications for shelter in place do you need? How long does it take you to accomplish this? What did you miss the first time you tried?

If you don't practice, you won't know until it counts. That's too late.

Terrorism ain't just for CEOs anymore. This book has excellent information not covered in the press, prudent responses, and prudent preparations. My only suggestion is practice. It enables personal adaptation of the information provided.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not as Strident as I Expected
This book is written in a tone that's surprisingly mild without a heavy dose of panic. It is rather factual in nature making some rather fundamental comments about personal security. Many of these, removing tree branches that might be used to allow entry to your house through an upstairs window, clearing shrubs from around your house, keeping a battery powered radio (with fresh batteries) around make good sense where there are terrorists involved or not.

The first half of the book on knowing how terrorists organize, think, and act is quite interesting. He also discusses several organizations, some of which (Al Qaida) pose a definite threat to the US, some (Hamas) haven't operatee in the United States, some (Black Panthers) are basically defunct.

One thing that I was expecting because of the title was a recommendation to keep a gun at home. Out here in the west everybody (nearly) has a gun. I was surprised at this knowing a little about Liddy's reputation.

There are a couple of errors in the book. For instance there is a comment about using duct tape to seal your house. He says that FEMA recommends tape that has a minimum of ten millimeters (0.01 in). Ten millimeters is nearly a half inch. That's pretty thick for tape.

A final comment. Much in this book is good advice. It makes sense if there is a terrorist threat or simply a hurricane like Katrina. On the other hand, to concentrate on the terrorist threat doesn't make all that much sense. 9/11 killed about 3,000 people. That's about how many people are killed each and every month by driving accidents. But a book on driving accidents wouldn't be of much interest. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun and exciting spy story!
The CIA knows that Gregory Ballinger, a high-stakes financier, is actually a KGB agent, but they don't know what he is up to. And so they call in Richard Rand - a playboy, associate of the several crime syndicates, business guru, and man who is used to making his own rules. But, Ballinger plays for keeps, and very quickly the situation turns into a fight to the finish. Rand has more to worry about than just Ballinger, though; the CIA has long range plans of their own, and they are not about to let this all go down without their hand in it.

This is a fun and exciting spy story! I tripped over this book recently, and boy am I glad that I did. G. Gordon Liddy spins quite an exciting tale, with lots of action, adventure and sex. As a teaser I'll mention that this book has murder, gunplay, unusual weapons, a martial arts fight scene, and a Bf 109 (Messerschmitt) fighter plane - what more could you ask for? This is a fun an exciting book for adult readers, one that I highly recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very intelligent and interesting book!
I've been getting into reading spy fictions and the like lately, and a lot of times I am disappointed. I figure out what is going to happen next too easily, or there just isn't that much going on in the book and it's better for lulling me to sleep than anything else. Not so with this book. It is really very interesting, full of surprises, and really written for someone with a higher IQ than myself -- or at least with more knowledge than I have. But that's okay. The book doesn't talk down to me, and the parts I don't understand involved details that are not essential to my still totally enjoying the book. People with lots of knowledge and higher IQs will I think especially enjoy this book. Let's put it this way: If this book were made into a movie, I think I'd have to purchase a copy just so that I could watch it over and over and over. I didn't expect to like Liddy, but now I am very curious about him and have to say I respect his writing tremendously. You won't be disappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars The truth is out there....
One reason I have long suspected that the author is the infamous Deep Throat is because of the protagonist in this story. What are the other reasons? You have only to follow the shadows. You might take another look at All the President's Men by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward. They could not exclude Liddy, but they sure wrote him out of the picture.... There's more.

5-0 out of 5 stars As full of intrigue and suprises as Liddy himself!
This novel takes you into the world of spies, thieves, and deception asonly G.Gordon Liddy can.Characters from the novel are drawn from Liddy'sown experiences, from the CIA and FBI agents to the Chinese Red Belt Masterthat taught Liddy the secrets of his arts in prison! You won't know whenthe fiction ends and reality begins! ... I am very pleased with this transaction.Would not hesitate to purchase from them again.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Autobiography of 'The Perfect Soldier'
G. Gordon Liddy knows Government like few other men -- inside and out.He served in the United States Army, as an Assistant District Attorney, in the Federal Bureau of Investigation and in the Treasury Department. In private life he practiced law and served as Counsel for former President Nixon's 'Committee to Re-elect The President'.During the re-election campaign he organized and participated in the Democratic National Committee Watergate Headquarters break-in, was caught, was convicted and was sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment.Liddy's refusal to cooperate with the Watergate investigation and subsequent impeachment hearings earned Liddy punishing assignment to the worst Federal prisons.Liddy never cooperated. In 1977 former President Carter commuted Liddy's sentence to eight years and Liddy was released after serving fifty-two months.

Liddy wrote "Will: The Autobiography of G. Gordon Liddy" long after all other affected parties had told everything.Liddy's premise in "Will: ..." is the self-conquest of human fear and human weakness, molding oneself into the perfect soldier. His crusade began during his sickly childhood, continued through his Army, Government and private careers, and sustained him through Federal prison.

Liddy describes his experiences candidly, clearly and well.He views humanity with cynicism born from long experience.Liddy's crusade to mold himself into a perfect soldier, his actions and his attitudes are *extremely* controversial, yet Liddy is an *extremely* intelligent man whose life molded his attitudes.

I recommend "Will: The Autobiography of G. Gordon Liddy" as *eyewitness history* that WILL force readers to shake their heads and to think. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Really disappointed
I wasn't as enthusiastic about this book as the writers of the other reviews were. I found the characters stereotypical and the writing somewhat clumsy in parts, especially in the dialogue passages (for example, the New York accents of certain characters just didn't sound real). However, what seemed most preposterous is the idea that a car going south at 90 miles per hour has a difficult time keeping up with a ship traveling down the Hudson River. It brings to mind Boris Karloff as the Mummy dragging his feet yet perpetually just behind the person who is sprinting away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Action Novel
This is an absolutely super read. The characters are believable, the plot very well done, and the action non-stop.
On realism of action, Gordon Liddy has it right. As a former Ranger instructor I found that Liddy's description of tactics, use of weapons, and action are accurate and spot-on.
On his style, Liddy's writing is lean and strong---just like the character of the author.
This is a true page-turner! Five stars is well deserved for this great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Certainly superior to Tom Clancy, et al.
My guess is that most people will encounter this book because they are already fans of Mr. Liddy's syndicated radio program, or because they have already read WILL and are hungry for more Liddyesque material. This book will not disappoint (unless you expect WAR AND PEACE - or another WILL); I read it shortly after it was first released and I still remember the plot, action, and characters vividly: how many "techno-thrillers" can that be said about? I actually take issue with the label of "techno-thriller": MONKEY HANDLERS is about the men of the Navy SEALs, more particularly about how the human mind, body, and spirit can combine to produce results previously unimagined. It's a very good book and a good companion on an airliner or by the pool.

4-0 out of 5 stars Action, skill, action, bravado and more action!
As a fan of Mr. Liddy's radio talk show, I was prepared for an excellent thriller. However, I was a bit disappointed. The plot is action-packed, but a bit light on development. The book comes to a rather abrupt, anticlimactic end.Mr. Liddy sometimes spends a bit too much time on thetechnical details (which are fascinating nonetheless). Having said that, Istill recommend it for anyone looking for an action thriller.I'd guessmost people won't figure out who the "bad guy" is until the end.

The "voice" of the book is unmistakable Liddy. The maincharacter, Mike Stone, a former Navy SEAL, oozes bravado from the start. Eventually Liddy gives him a bit more personality and creates a morebelievable character. It seems that Mrs. Liddy even makes an appearance asthe main character's widowed Aunt.

The plot twists several times and isanything but predictable. If nothing else, reading _The Monkey Handlers_will make most people stop and think.

5-0 out of 5 stars Compelling reading.
Consider the FIVR STAR rating for both of Mr. Liddy's techno thriller novels...this one and "Out of Control."

While they 1990 and 1980 copywrites they give the same high degree of thrills today. Both aretension filled, taunt plots.

Certainly Mr. Liddy is well qualified towrite of "special ops" and he pulls no punches. I could not putdown either book. And, with his creditials suspension of disbelief is at atminimum.

My hope is that he will do more and if he writes one every tenyears, could 2000 be the date for another action packed pageturner?

Great stuff!KVD ... Read more

Product Description
THOMAS A. KENNELLY takes you into the heart of the American legal system with this first-hand and often amusing recount of a professional life in the courtroom on both sides of the aisle. Some of the best-known names of the 20th century show up in his life experience, from Jimmy Hoffa to G. Gordon Liddy, Robert Kennedy to Ronald Reagan.
In the tradition of Irish story-tellers, Kennelly weaves his tales with humor and faith and offers penetrating insights into the moral complexities facing a trial lawyer.
With warm memories of his Midwestern roots and strong family ties, Kennelly traces his life as a Marine JAG officer, American abroad in France, and federal prosecutor in San Francisco. Coming to Washington with John Kennedy’s New Frontier, he was part of the “Hoffa Squad,” helped initiate the Department of Justice Strike Forces against organized crime, and created the first federal Witness Protection Program. In his varied private practice, Kennelly represented Watergate figures, high-ranking Government officials, and the leader of a D.C. jail-break.
