He currently is the sole anchor of OMNI News: Cantonese Edition on Toronto, Ontario's OMNI.2. Graduating from the Sir Robert Black College of Education, Stanley So worked as a news reporter and anchor for TVB News in Hong Kong starting in 1975 to 2005. He moved to Toronto in 2005 and became the news controller of the Fairchild TV's Toronto division. He joined OMNI Television several years later, where he currently also serves as senior editor and public affairs officer, alongside his anchoring duties. A good read, but there are better
I thought 18 Hours was a decent read, it is written rather simply and the author going on and on about how fabulous the SASR is gets a little old. But there are not a lot of books written about the Australian involvement in the Long War. This is an account of Operation Anaconda and two Australians from the SASR attached to the American's 10th Mountain division for the operation. The protagonist in the book, Jock Wallace was a member of the 152 SIG, the signalers attached to the SASR regiment, not a SASR operator. Which isn't to discredit him, just to ensure potential readers know this isn't about a team of SAS soldiers high in the Afghan mountains. The Australians are attached to a conventional US unit and the book is a interesting account of a conventional unit's battle on a lonely ridge. Its not a bad book, but there are better and more interesting reads about the war in Afghanistan available. ... Read more
