Product Description
Recently, the Internet has become a new and exciting method of information exchange.Unfortunately, it has also become the most ambiguous medium to measure effectively. Many Web developers miss the overall understanding of how Web sites could be more successful and beneficial for the users.Essentially, they miss the opportunity to use the Web as a public relations tool. This is especially true for institutions of higher education.Even when institutions use various public relations methods they are not guaranteed successful Web ventures. Therefore, research must be done to understand how the Web can be used more effectively to build relationships through information exchange between institutions and their various constituencies. This study will focus on one constituency in particular: prospective students. By understanding the various Web strategies currently being used to communicate with prospective students and how, from the students? perspectives, these strategies contribute to their impressions of the institutions as a whole, this research study will delve into this much needed area of investigation. ... Terrorist groups are currently using information andcommunication technologies to orchestrate theirconventional attacks. More recently, terrorists havebeen developing a new form of cyber-capability tocoordinate cyber attacks. This book explores thepossibility that cyber-terrorists may have developedor may have future capabilities to attack criticalinfrastructure by accessing Supervisory Control andData Acquisition (SCADA) systems within Australiaand throughout the world. The book characterises theAustralian security and terrorism environment anddiscusses the vulnerability of Australian computersystems and control systems. It also discusses thecyber-capability of various terrorist groups, SCADArisk evaluation methods and presents a framework tomeasure and protect SCADA systems from the threat ofcyber-terrorism within Australia. This frameworkforms the main basis of this research and isexamined by three focus group interviews, signifyingthe need for new counter-terrorism security modelsto assist with assessing new cyber security threatssuch as cyber-terrorism. 4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting.. Highly Recommend
This book is a critical must-read for those within the IT security sector with exposure to critical infrastructure environments.Beggs clearly articulates the evolution of this latest cyber threat in a non-subjective context, providing the reader with an understanding of Australia's critical infrastructure system vulnerabilities and the inherent infiltration of global terrorist networks with the capacity to leverage these vulnerabilities to perpetrate cyber attacks.

This book appropriately provides an in-depth analysis of the likelihood and consequential significance of a cyber terrorist attack to critical infrastructure environments within Australia. The generic nature or context of this analysis enables even a novice IT specialist to grasp this topic, whilst also aiding security professionals to consider the potential conceptual methodologies to examine the threat of such attacks to critical infrastructure SCADA networks.

Overall, I found the content of this book too akin to a research study, without providing any first hand accounts of such threats. However, from the limited depth of available literature on this topic, this book tackles a relatively unknown risk from all angles with great detail.

I highly recommend this book, even if the subject area is frightening to contemplate the consequence of such an attack.. it will be a captivating read for anyone concerned with IT security and public affairs. ... Read more

R. M. Ballantyne (1825-1894) was a Scottish juvenile fiction writer. Born Robert Michael Ballantyne in Edinburgh, he was part of a famous family of printers and publishers. In 1848 he published his first book, Hudson's Bay: or, Life in the Wilds of North America. For some time he was employed by Messrs Constable, the publishers, but in 1856 he gave up business for the profession of literature, and began the series of adventure stories for the young with which his name is popularly associated. The Young Fur-Traders (1856), The Coral Island (1857), The World of Ice (1859), Ungava: A Tale of Eskimo Land (1857), The Dog Crusoe (1860), The Lighthouse (1865), Deep Down, a Tale of the Cornish Mines (1868), The Pirate City (1874), Erling the Bold (1869), The Settler and the Savage (1877), and other books, to the number of upwards of a hundred, followed in regular succession, his rule being in every case to write as far as possible from personal knowledge of the scenes he described ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Conceptual Artist - Smooth Music/Wonderful Breakthrough CD
I downloaded some of Kris Allen's AI music before the CD and was not disappointed. I established myself from the very beginning as a Lambert fan and my loyality to the artist has not wavered. I am a baby boomer and routinely 'mix up" the music to forestall boredom. Kris Allen is not boring, people. My young daughter (also a Lambert fan) indicated that she wanted the Kris Allen CD for her iPod. Ok! At first glance, the title song seemed tailor made for New Year's Eve but closer inspection reveals more about the man and his music. I was not sorry that I listened to my teen. Kris is an extremely talented performer. Also, the newer release of Kayne West's "Heartless" on the CD is a little funkier than the AI version. I can't quite see Kris sharing a summer concert tour with Lambert and Allison Iraheta, but there is a place for all three artists on the musicial horizon. ... Read more
