One Gentle Knight and A Magical Night
"One Gentle Knight" by Wayne Jordan was my first time reading one of Mr. Jordan's book.I loved it.Shayne Knight was indeed one gentle Knight.Even though he engaged in a "one night stand" with Carla Nevins, it was not his intentions.However, being the responsible man that Shayne was, he had to put business before pleasure.Shayne was the oldest of three siblings.His brother and sister, twins -- Russell and Tamara were too young to worry about the family business when their parents were tragically killed in a car accident.Therefore, Shayne, a young man himself, shouldered the responsibility of not only caring for the business, but also caring for Russell and Tamara.

Ironically, the time when Shayne decides he need some R&R time, he goes to the island and as if magically, Carla is also there and they meet.Each senses the other and things or rather, clothing items, take off from there.As with magic, even though the feelings are still there, when the night is over and Carla wakes up, she wakes up alone.Shayne is nowhere to be found.Carla does find Shayne's note, but the note is sketchy and does not say much.Carla wonders and begin to doubt, was it indeed just a hasty, one night stand?Did she, a grown woman, who is also a widow, after losing her husband and their child in a tragic car accident, also lose her senses and become involved with a man she just met -- one she knows nothing about?Will she or does she now regret what she -- no they did during the night?

After Shayne does not return, Carla cuts her vacation short and return home to the United States to try to forget all about the mysterious man.However, she has a surprise, one that will always remind her of Shayne.After approx three months have passed, Carla realizes that she is and it is confirmed that Carla is pregnant.Carla tells her friend, Sandra what happened and Carla decides she must tell Shayne face to face that he will be a father, but she does not want any strings attached.Little does Carla know that Shayne has also been missing her.Although both have issues, they also have a child between them.Therefore, their lives have been changed and they have been bonded together forever.

Carla and Shayne love each other, but both are to stubborn to realize it and even Shayne's housekeeper, Gladys, who is also like a mother to the Knight children, realizes that Shayne and also Carla love one another.Shayne's closest friends, George, who is now a lawyer and Troy, who is a doctor also realize that Carla and Shayne love one another and should be together.However, through much trials and heartship, Carla and Shayne will have to face that reality themselves and make things work for them and their child.

"One Gentle Knight" is the first in the triology about the Knight siblings - Shayne, Tamara, and Russell.All great stories of love, romance, life, and most important, family.

Are You Kidding Me?
I love romance books and although I have read some silly ones written by women along comes a man who writes one of the most silliest supposed romance books I've read in a while. What prompted me to buy it in the first place was because the author was a male.
In reading it I found that the hero and the heroine truly deserved one another (and not in a good way) but rather because I found them equally annoying. Between his selfishness and their shared immaturity, I only finished this predictable, aggravating mess because I paid for it.I mean come on!All they had in common was physical lust.And if I had to read one more time of how beautiful she was I was going to scream. If she'd only had been written with brains and a backbone too.
What mature woman, becomes pregnant, decides to have the baby, decides to tell the father, (whom she barely knows) but doesn't tell him nor is encouraged by her supposed best friend to tell the father about her past immediatley.A past that included marriage and the tragic deaths of both her husband and child due to the same accident. Then she has the audacity to lament like an inexperienced teenage girl over the fact he doesn't jump for joy at the news that he's going to be a father due to a no-strings attached sex romp with a total stranger.
I commend the hero for raising his brother and sister after the death of their parents, which was his one redeeming quality to me but Shayne and Carlahad no depth.Although after the fact, Ikept waiting on them to really talk to one another or have some kind of a real blow-out argument instead, I could have cared less if they got together or not.This was indeed African-American fiction with no true romance in sight.

One gentle story
This was the second in the Knight series. I like being reintroduced to the characters. The story line was different and interesting. The chemistry of the main characters was hard to pick up on though.

Gentle love story
I loved this story.It was very well written.I felt as though I could smell the food and hear the ocean as I was reading the book.I could not put the book down once I started.The romance sizzled and the secondary characters helped carry the story. I am looking forward to the sequels.

This is what turned me on to Mr. Jordan
Nobody writes a strong yet vulnerable man like Mr. Jordan!Kyle is initially a bitter recluse because of his blindness but there's nothing like the love and determination of a headstrong woman.What really got me hooked was the way the author describes the surroundings without the benefit of sight.When reading from Kyle's pov, you still get a feel of the island even though he can't describe what a single thing looks like.Quite fascinating really.Highly recommend this one!

Love is Blind
"To Love A Knight" is a beautiful love story.It is also a wonderful story of overcoming struggles and facing reality.Tamara Knight is a strong determined woman, who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it.Kyle Austin thought he had it all -- he had survived a childhood where he lost his mother and his uncle, went to foster care, and made it through high school to become a world reknown cricket player.Rich and with a playboy status, one fateful night changed everything for him -- a night where an accident left him blind and where he thought his life was indeed in total darkness.That was the way Kyle's life was all because of one night, however, his life changed even more when he met one Knight -- Tamara.

Kyle's and Tamara's meeting was electrical, magical, and earth shattering all in one.When Tamara moved in next door to Kyle and eventually showed up on his doorstep everything changed for both of them.Each thought the rest of their life was mapped out.Kyle was destined to remain a recluse, hidden away from the rest of the world, writing stories and being satisfied in his darkness.Tamara just wanted to have her vet business and be content.When they crossed paths, their lives became entwined and although Kyle could not visually see Tamara with his physical eyes, his mind eyes knew Tamara was the beautiful woman -- inside and out -- and she was the woman that he would love forever.Tamara also knew that Kyle was the man for her, whether he had his eyesight or not, she too would love him forever.

Knight trilogy
One gentle knight was very fast pace, but to love a knight was right on time, Tamara was perfect for this role, the book was lovely written and the story line made sense to me, of course i'm waiting on russell.

Seeing with the heart ...

BORING...
I'VE NEVER BEEN MORE BORED READING A BOOK. IT IS TAKING ME FOREVER TO FINISH THIS!! THIS BOOK HAS A MOMENT OR TWO WHERE I MIGHT SMILE BUT OTHERWISE I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

I didn't like it!
I will skip the plot summary because other reviewers have done a good job. This was my first Wayne Jordan book and I was very disappointed.The story seemed interesting and it received good reviews but overall all it wasn't very interesting and I had several specfic problems with the story.First the author never gave a clear picture of what Victoria or Russell looked like.I don't like it when authors compare their characters to Halle Berry or Morris Chestnut or other famous people.It's to easy and shows a lack of creativity.However, I really dislike vague descriptions.Victoria was described as almost 6" and pretty and Russell tall with locks.That's it!

Another issue I had was the writing style.It was very choppy and didn't flow well.One minute they are about to have dinner and the next they are at home with no tie in.Also they constantly contradicted their statements.Russell would think things like "we are friends but I want us to more than just lovers."Well if you are friends than you are already more than lovers.Also the constant jumping from topic to another was very annoying.One minute they are talking about a and then there's a jumb to b in the same sentence.

Victoria had too many hang ups for me and I didn't find her appealing.Her family history aside she was unwilling to give her realtionship a try and pushed Russell away based on "what ifs".Russell didn't appeal to me either.He just wasn't interesting.The author kept saying how charming and good looking he was but he never made me feel that he was all that.

Finally there was a strange lack of visual description through out the book.Victoria's appartment was described as green and white.Russell know that it was an expensive place but how did he know it?Because it was green and white and had a doorman?I think that descriptions are essential to make a sucessful story and Mr. Jordan did not show much creativity in this book.

What A Knight!
Russell Knight is a reporter that has made a name for himself at a New York newspaper. He has to prove to everyone, including himself, that he has chosen the right career path and made the right decision by leaving his beautiful home of Barbados. His brother wants him home preparing to take over the family business, but Russell wants to be in control of his own life. Victoria Matthews has always wanted to sing. She majored in music and has a great gig singing in a nightclub where she meets Russell. They have instant chemistry, but Tori can't allow anyone to stand in the way of her dream. When the call from a record company comes, Tori is overjoyed. Can she walk away from Russell to pursue her dream? Or does she have to?

Always a Knight is the third book in the Knight family trilogy. There was a build up to learn the fate of the final Knight sibling. Wayne Jordan does not leave you disappointed. He has a very smooth writing style that flows from beginning to end. There are several secondary characters that are well developed and add a lot to the storyline. Always a Knight is a wonderful ending to this family saga.

entertaining contemporary romance
While he misses his beloved family who live in the Barbados and at times feels so lonely he wants to go home, reporter Russell Knight heeds Sonata's advice about making it in New York and remains dedicated to succeeding as a journalist.The New York Times reporter accepts an invitation to a club owned by his friend Rachel Allen to watch a singer and her band perform; Rachel raves they are excellent and he loves music.

From the stage singer Tori Matthews sees Russell talking to her boss and for the first in her life falls into instant lust.To his shock, Russell upon seeing the singer for the first time falls into instant lust.Both have to have the other.As their lust grows into friendship and love, he demands she give up her career while she refuses to give up on her dream.Unable to reach consensus as neither would budge, they split up proving love is not enough.

The only negative to ALWAYS A KNIGHT is that this is the final book in the Knight Family trilogy (see ONE GENTLE KNIGHT and TO LOVE A KNIGHT).The lead couple is a passionate pairing of likable protagonists whose life goals appears to supersede their love for one another as neither quite understand compromise as his wise sister explains that live is selfless placing the other's needs ahead of yours.Fans of contemporary romances will enjoy this fine tale of two people in love, but unable to try on let alone walk in their beloved's shoes.

Engaging read with multiple points of view
This book pulls you in to the story right away and holds your attention throughout. I felt a little cheated by the ending, but not so much that it ruined the book for me. The chapters rotate among first-person accounts from a variety of characters, telling the story of two farming families (one black, one white) struggling to survive in a small Southern town just after World War II. Each character tells his or her version of the events -- colored by his or her own experiences, desires and prejudices -- without being overly preachy or stereotypical. It's nicely done.

A Great Read
This was a really good book with fantastic charachter development.The characters were awsome!0

Excellent reading and food for thought.
had read about Mudbound on the online reader circuit where it had received plenty of acclaim, and I am adding my voice to the praise. This is excellent story telling and a world far removed from my own life - elements that I love when reading fiction. Told in first person with different chapters for each character's viewpoint and voice, I found that this mode of telling helped to round out the players as we saw them through their own eyes, and then through the eyes of others, thus their quirks and flaws were high-lighted as well as their virtues. Having said that, although all of the characters did come to life and have their own personalities, they were stereotypes in several cases. I felt this about Florence and Pappy in particular. She is the strong, wise black mammy, and he is the spitting, obnoxious old bigot. The red-neck poor farmer abusing his own daughters is another stereotype too. It's not always an easy read, but it is a riveting page-turning one that has stayed with me after reading and has left me pondering the undercurrents beneath the surface storyline. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

a great time period story
This is a book is worth reading. Always shocking to be reminded the racism that existed in the American south.
Reminded me of the book THE HELP which is also worth reading.

A sleeper surprise
Found out about this book through BookPages on FaceBook. It was a total surprise -- I enjoyed it thoroughly. It is a small, simple story but so intensely written in the voices of the individual characters. The author did a great job in allowing the reader to discern the unique style of each character. The more I read, the more interested I was. It takes place in the Mississippi Delta during a time when prejudice was rampant...still hard to believe life was like that. I recommend this book. ...
