Excerpt: John Wilson Kyle (born 10 January 1926, Belfast, Northern Ireland), commonly referred to as Jack Kyle or Jackie Kyle, is a former rugby union player who played for Ireland, the British Lions and the Barbarians during the 1940s and 1950s. In 1950 Kyle was declared one of the six players of the year by the New Zealand Rugby Almanac, in 1999 he was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame, in 2002 he was named the Greatest Ever Irish Rugby Player by the Irish Rugby Football Union, and in 2008 he was inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame. Kyle was educated at Belfast Royal Academy and studied medicine at Queen's University, Belfast . He graduated in 1951 and in 1991 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University . In 2007 he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Irish Journal of Medical Science and the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland He has also been awarded an OBE. Kyle first played for Ireland during the Second World War in a friendly against a British Army XV. However no caps were awarded . Between 1947 and 1958, while playing for Ireland, he went onto make 46 full appearances and score 24 points, including 7 tries . The highlight of his Ireland career came during the 1948 Five Nations Championship when, together with Karl Mullen and Mick O'Flanagan, he helped Ireland win a grand slam . Kyle played in all four games and he is often credited with masterminding Irelands success . In 1949 he also helped Ireland win the Triple Crown and in 1951 they won the title again. Local to National Celebrities Interviewed
This is a great book for anyone who is a fan, but also a real treat for people living in the metro-Detroit area, as a few of the celebrities asked are local TV and radio stars. She wrote to a lot of people over the years and has a great collection of stars' heroes, from Soupy Sales to Les Paul and of course Davy Jones! It's neat to find out who inspired the celebrities to be who they are today.

What a great concept for a book!
Mary Guerra is an authority on fandom as she is a member of a fanclub or two herself. I know this since she belongs to the fanclub I run for Davy Jones, Davy Devotees. Though the concept of fandom is normally perceived as being something the nonfamous possess, Mary spent years contacting various celebrities asking them just who they consider themselves a fan of and what fanclubs they would join if they could! She received personal responses from legends in the field of entertainment like RoseMarie and Phyllis Diller to Les Paul, inventor of the electric guitar, Richard Petty, of racing fame, columnist, Liz Smith and "Mr. Hockey" Gordie Howe. Shirley Jones, Peter Noone and Mary's personal favorite, Davy Jones of The Monkees, are just a few of the many other highlighted celebrities. If you've been a fan of anyone at anytime, this book gives you an interesting look at who those we admire actually admire. At times the featured celebrities provide laughs and at other times intriguing revelations. Overall this is a fun read with a lot of heart!
