This subject is not one to be played or trifled with and a word of caution by Oxon is given to those who may propose to follow out an experimental study of mesmeric phenomena on his own responsibility. Dealing as is does with obscure conditions of the whole being, it presents various difficulties and not a few dangers to the inexperienced or rash experimenter. Harm may easily be done to the unconscious patient, and unmerited obloquy may be cast on the study of the subject by experiments ignorantly conducted. With simple knowledge and ordinary care the course is clear, and danger need not be apprehended; but delicate states of the sensitive patient do not fitly lend themselves to experiments on the part of the merely curious and uninstructed investigator. ... Print simply to small and faint to read!

Shame on Elibron Classics!

In efforts to save paper and ink costs Elibron Classics have reduced font size and darkness of this reprint to unacceptably low levels, making the book unreadable without a magnifying glass, unless the reader is willing to suffer severe eye strain.

The text is highly recommended by Alfred Percy Sinnett in his "The Rationale of Mesmerism". Alas, this reviewer will have to seek another edition, as he is returning this one by Elibron Classics to Amazon for a refund.
