Celine, PUH-leeze!
This book was SO over-the-top...oh, wait, just like Celine.

This is how Celine comes across to me:"Rene and I are in love...Rene is the only one for me...our love is special...there is no other love like ours...I wanted him, and I got him...what we have is true love...our love transcends the ages..."My question is, did wives one and two feel the same way?She doesn't seem to care that she broke up a marriage...that fact is glossed over.All she does is gloat about winning a balding, creepy predator.He's also a compulsive gambler, and she thinks it's okay...because he's HER Rene.I bet he could sell her anything.

She has an amazing voice - truly very talented - but man, is she icky.Maybe she can go far away with Rene where no one has to hear her childishly gushing words for him.YUCK.

Love This Book!!!!
I loved this book. It is well written and an easy read. I read the book in one day. This may be the only book written about Celine that truly explores the romantic side of her relationship with her husband Rene Angelil. I would highly recommend it for Celine Dion fans.

Love her or leave her.... SOLINAS IS AN IDIOT!
If you love Celine or admire her or whatever, you'll enjoy her story.The idiot critic Solinas wants to trash Celine and Rene and nary gives a thought to maybe Celine is not obligated to share any of this personal info. with us... Celine bares all, lives under the scrutiny of the public and idiots like Solinas who insist they know better.I could also criticize Celine for not following her Catholic faith better, but you know I pray for her and I still enjoy her sharing so much of her intimate dreams and feelings and thank her for sharing and that's all - IT IS A GOOD READ, but if you don't like her then simply leave her alone- she doesn't ask for your approval -she is giving here, I for one appreciate that... THANKS CELINE AND THANKS RENEE - CELINE IS IN A CLASS BY HERSELF as far as I'm concerned.

Not what I thought it would be....
From someone who is a huge fan of Celine's music - from her early work to her most recent, this book was not what I was expecting.
It was a very easy read - almost like a fairytale. It was great thru the beginning of the book, but even her adult years were portrayed like they were thru the eyes of a small child. This doesn't bode well for my opinion of Celine as an adult, who spends half the book trying to assert her independence "because Rene wouldn't want me that way" if she didn't.

As for the love story between her and Rene - again, I liked the early years. She admitted she didn't think much of him when she met him- hey, she was just a kid then. Talked about Anne Marie, etc. What this book is missing is things like how she dealt with breaking their relationship to his adult children, how she relates to them good and bad, and how she justifies such great lengths for a child with a man who has already raised two.

Again, this story seems to brush over these kinds of topics in favor of defending Rene. We didn't read the book for Rene, we read it for her. She was real about her childhood. Not so real about her adult life.

Revealing, truthful, eye-opening book on Celine Dion By Herself.
I did find this book to be enjoyable at times and boring in parts as well:

I found Celine's early years of family/homelife interesting and oh my did she and her mother (her siblings as well) worked their butts off (and her manager/now husband Rene) to get Celine to where she is today.

I think the reader might take the "I'm rich and I deserve it" the wrong way (maybe the French translation into English). Yes, she admits she is rich and yes she does talk about decorating homes and her fairytale wedding and renewing her vows, but Ishe realizes that she grew up poor and to give back, etc (she gave her siblings $$, etc).

I found Celine to be heartfelt and truthful. She admits she doesn't hide "things" from the press/friends (such as fertility problems), she admits that she was kind of spoiled growing up, and she did finally come out and tell the world she was in love with her manager Rene.

Around the age of 17 or so (earlier maybe) Celine describes her "fantasies" and movies she made up in her head about her manager Rene. She realized she was in "love" with him. I think she went a little in detail,(this sometimes gets boring), etc. I don't know what to think of it. Rene maybe didn't realize or didn't want to realize her attraction to him and his to her (he goes away to fix his marriage which ends up in divorce, his 2nd wife was fed up with this workaholic/gambling ways). When she was 18 I think it offical came out between the two of them that they were "in love." Rene and her mother do question the 26 year age difference (and the twice divorce thing as well). What I took out of the "love" relationship is it is extremely power and important to her and age doesn't make a difference.

Celine outlines that she indeed is strong and independent and Rene did guide her on the path of stardom but she is more than capible in making her own decisions.

All in all an ok book. it seems unfinished, and rushed little, and it needs a sequel. It leaves off during her pregnancy. I think the real meaning could have gotten lost in translation from French to English as well.

Anyway an ok read and I read it in a few days and I'm a die-hard Celine Fan!

For anyone from the new fan to the die-hard collector
What a treasure this is!A wonderful peak inside her life and career, including all those special memories we knew about, and a few we didn't.The reproduced keepsakes alone make this a worthy buy, but added to her own accounts of the memories associated with the keepsakes, this book is a wonderful addition to anyone's collection.

Bad, bad, bad!
Honestly, one of the worst books I've ever read. I had to read it for a class and I couldn't even finish it. Carl Wilson has no idea what he is talking about. Even after hearing him speak about the book, I didn't understand why he wrote it or what the point of it was. I don't care about Celine Dion so that is not the reason why I disliked the book. It's just that it was boring, boring and boring!

Makes you question all that you hold near & dear...and all that you push away in disgust.
Conversational and contemplative, this book inspired so many wonderful conversations between me and my girlfriend that we fired our couples' therapist and became Carl Wilson's Facebook friends instead. With 'Let's Talk About Love', Wilson has brought me and my gal closer and helped me to better explain my soft spot for certain Celine Dion songs. Slightly embarrassing! Highly recommended!

So Annoying...
I love this series of books but Let's Talk About Love is the most annoying piece of masturbatory justification for being a music snob I have ever read.It was painful to read.Painful!All that pretentious "Look how smart I am" bile with the faux compassionate liberal, "I'm seeking to understand" smoke screen get's really old.

This was written by a guy who probably couldn't tell the difference between a major 3rd and a minor 3rd if his life depended on it.I'll need to snort Advil all day long to get rid of this headache.

I'm no Celine Dion fan but all that long term smug verbosity and quote dropping boils down to, "If you like Celine Dion you're a mouth breathing idiot."Elitists can bite me.

Why is someone like Céline Dion so popular?What does her popularity say about those who love her music, and more importantly, those who are critical of her career? Carl Wilson takes on these subjects and others in thoughtful, appreciative look at taste, criticism, and almost incidentally her 1997 best-selling release, featuring "My Heart Will Go On".

This is thoughtful, erudite reading, one of my favorite books I've read this year.I'd recommend it for anyone who is into music of whatever kind.Sure, Wilson throws big words around.If that bothers you, get a dictionary and look them up.

One of the best books I've ever read!
It took over a year of hearing about this book before I finally caved in and bought it, and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy the book when it first came out! It's hard to do Carl Wilson's book justice when it has so much to say, and says it so beautifully. So let's start with the obvious: DO NOT LET THE SUBJECT MATTER TURN YOU OFF! Yes, it's a book about Celine, but it's so much more than that. It's warm, erudite, smart, funny, insightful, provocative, kind, approachable, and ultimately moving. Sure, I can see the argument that the whole concept is a bit of a stunt ("Look, everyone, I'm going to write a book about something I hate!") but when it's done this brilliantly, who cares? Ever since Celine Dion was a child, she loved singing! It all started when she was born March 30, 1968. Celine grew up in a very musical household. Being the youngest of 14 children, all of her siblings played instruments. Lining in Canada, Dion's parents Therese and Aldhemar owned a restaurant where Dion performed at. The locals loved her! It was a big interference with school. She becomes a major star in many places because of that feeling you get when you hear her sing. Celine might get nervous at first but she concurs her fear and blows everybody away! It is so wonderful! That is just a little bit of that book! If you read this book you could find out what she finally desires to do with her life. She goes through many struggles and problems that are very interesting. This is a great book! The book is not for people who are at a beginner's level in piano but is not too difficult for intermediate players. Great book for the collectors
Hi I think this is a great book for the collector, not for the "I'm just a fan" fan. I've used this book myself as a source of information for our own website (www.celinedion.nl). Translated the information and sometimes add some info to it. I admit there are a few mistakes. But that still makes it a great book, I'm using it a lot really it's always on my desk so I can grap it when I need it. For me it is like a Céline Dion dictionairy, even sometimes I just joke about it that it is one of my "Céline"schoolbook :)

Don't Spend Your Money
I think I now know more about the person who wrote this book than I do about Celine.Buddy, no one cares!

According to Mr. Beauregard, Sony and the entire music media business would crumble and collapse without him.His "passion" for Celine goes far beyond being a fan and straight into obsession.I think it would serve Ms. Dion well to post a guard outside her door when this guy is around.

There is some interesting stuff in the book, but it's nothing that's not in any of the other books about Celine Dion.

It gets one star because zero was not an option...
Sylvain Beauregard is WIDELY known to die-hard (and average) Celine fans as having a very large ego, not shutting his mouth, and insulting every other Celine fan out there.Take the "Syl" off, and you have his real identity.I have never read this book, and I never will.Endorsing this man and his work is an insult to Celine herself.Sylvain says he has all these contacts with Celine, her staff, etc. but he has never met her, which I find very odd.If you REALLY want to know about Celine, read her AUTHORIZED biography and autobiography.If you really love and admire Celine, DO NOT humor this man.

Slightly flawed, but no less informative.
"Passion Celine Dion: The Book" is, to begin with, the contents of the old "Passion Celine Dion" website. Though the webmaster, Sylvain Beauregard, closed the "Passion" site's virtual doors in September 2003, the extent of his work continues to live on through this book.

This book is intended neither as a biography nor as a picture book. It's a reference guide, containing exhaustive information on the singer's releases of albums, singles, b-sides and chart information. While several b-sides, rare songs and remixes are not listed, the author does his best to cover as much as possible in the 244 pages of information.

In fact, the only thing missing from the book that was on the website are the lyrics and translations. However, that is understandable as the lyrics are under copyright and cannot be reproduced for the purposes of gaining a profit. The information contained within the pages of this book go from her humble beginnings to March 2002 -- the release of the "A New Day Has Come" single and album.

I, for one, have gotten as much use out of this book as I did with the website. The book provides for at least one of my reasons for visiting the "Passion" site. One reason was for the extensive discography information, which I have since expanded upon for my own Celine Dion fansite. The other reason I visited his website was for the lyrics, which I am also working on providing in my website.

This book is not for the new fan. It is for one who's already a diehard, like myself. Forget what you've heard about Sylvain and judge the book on its own merit. It has much to offer, especially for those who are curious as to the statistical data of her career up to Spring 2002, the music-oriented geeks, and the fans who must have EVERYTHING pertaining to her on their book and CD shelves. However, if you want a biographical account of her lifestory, you will want to look elsewhere.

Passion Celine Dion LostOn This Reader
I have many problems with this book.I am indeed a fan of Celine Dion's, yet, I feel too many meaningless boring books have been written about her life.I am not a huge Dion fan yet I have read most of the English texts on her life.

I am not farmilar with who this author isand I do not understand why he goes on and on about his education, his affiliation with Dion, and the work he put into his self proclaimed "Best website ever on the singer".This indeed does not sell the book, it only builds up to what I have found to be a pointless factual boring book.This book is great if you are interested in chart performance and album sales.

If you are looking for a great read on Dion's life stick with the Authorized Biography or the book that Dion wrote herself, much more entertaining.This book is much hype and leaves the reader totally dissapointed and confused about why they purchased it.Please don't waste your money!I feel this book is a product of some type of twisted obsession and it's almost like this person thinks Dion owes him something because he simply created a website for her????Did that make her the global superstar she is today?? Awful and scary
I looked through this book with my husband at the midwife's. We had a good laugh over the complete ridiculousness of it all but we were genuinely horrified by the babies stuffed into the mesh baggies. What mom would consent to let this woman do this to her baby??

Loved it
This is a great souvenir if you went to the New Day Concert in Las Vegas. I loved it and it makes me feel the way that she did when I was watching her live. She is the only singer who can make me cry... If your a Celine fan it's a must have!

Book Review
The book is well written and enjoyable to read. However, I was a little disappointed. One of the major things I love about Celine's life is the intense and passionate love she has for her husband - Rene Angelil.They have a very romantic love story. I wished the book had explored the romantic side of Celine's and Rene's personal relationship in more detail. This would have given the reader a better understanding of who Rene Angelil really is.I know he is not just the mystery man in black.

Biased but interesting
This book was written by a good friend of the great singer so it was pretty biased but enjoyable anyway. It had a great insight on what it was like to be on the road with Celine. I recommend this book

Wonderful collaboration between artist and writer!
Georges Herbert-Germain does a wonderful job finding the equilibrium between Céline's public stage-life and her emotional private-life.The book's chapter pattern of singer to woman to singer shows that there's more to Céline Dion than being a diva and an international pop icon.Despite being followed by the media since she was 12, Céline appears to have remained grounded in the stories of her past, present, and what she plans to do in the future.There's more behind this diva besides Titanic and pipes of platinum.

No word can truly discribe Celine's wonderful voice, dreams and spirit, but I believe this book has managed to do the best it could. Of course, you cannot feel Celine's passion by simply read a book. However, I can ensureyou that after reading this book, you must at least start to like thisreal-life model of human being -- Celine Dion.

The 5 stars are because she is the best nobody can replace
I wish I could give you a review, however I have been waiting for this book, since last year October. How can you put up a book for sale, when did you know you didn't have it? Or were you thinking the books were being delivered? I am very MAD, Cause I have ordered books from here before, and they have NEVER BEEN THIS LATE. GREAT BOOK!!!
I loved the sheet music in this book! It took all of Celine's 'greatest hit's' and put them in one book! I got this bok before I got the other sheet music books of hers and I was glad I did!!

Boring compilation
Most arrangements are oversimlified and repetitive. Stellar songs are reduced to bland, uninviting arrangements. Its a pretty disheartening collection. Its well worth the trouble of trying to arrange them yourself.

Terrible Book!
I order this book because I thought it would give me a different perspective about Celine and Rene's life together.This book is so inaccurate and full of gossip with no valid fact, "a maid who use to work for Celine said this, a musician who use to work for the couple said that." The author claims to be a "investigative reporter".Yea right, just a bunch of made up garbage.If I had submitted this book to my high school English teacher as a research paper, I would have received an F.What a waste of my $2.00.

If you see Ian Halperin
Tell him he is a hack.This fair tale of facts has nothing to do with the story.Iam Halperin is an amateur paparazzi desperate for a buck.This book is a waste of your money to support his drinking habbits.

Fun Read
There are good facts in this book, some of them are most interesting about Canada's wonderful Celine.I enjoyed this book as well as the other bios out there about her.I look forward to her return this year to music.

Strictly for entertainment
I would not recommend this book for someone who knows very little about Celine. I am a huge fan of four years and have done much independent research in both the English and French languages that can discount almost every "fact" Halperin claims. The inability to quote real sources just further takes away from Halperin's credibility. It is as much the truth as the Enquirer's claims that aliens exist.

Knowing that, I would recommend it to any fan with a real sense of humor, because believe me you will laugh your (...) off. Some highlights include the chapter about Michael Jackson (just the mental picture of Celine screaming out "He is too sexy for me!" about the plastic one is enough), another great story is about her and Rene getting it on in the hot tub with the video camera on. Just imagine Celine and Rene...or actually don't it's quite scary. Too bad his "informants" missed the time Celine tried to "commit suicide" by shoving a whole ball of wasabi mustard in her mouth while in Tokyo (official bio), that was a good one.

In short Halperin is [lousy] at writing the facts, but boy is he a terrific creative writer. Definately worth reading but take it with a conspiracy sized grain of salt.

The best book ,clear vivid pictures,precisely written.Each page is interesting,easy to read.It's a great book,every Celine fan should have,or even if this was not Celine,how this book compiled was IMPRESSIVE!!

Beautiful pictures unseen elsewhere
Book is printed professionally, just like the pictures. You will find over 100 pictures of Céline Dion, sometimes with stars like Carole King, David Foster and Peabo Bryson. Captions are succinct without needless verbose descriptions. I particularly like the last few pictures which were taking more recently as Céline truely looked much better in. Not to say she's ugly when she was young, but in fact she has grown to look more sophisticated and elegant. One of the most celebrated of our modern artists... Perhaps one look at her you'll know what her vocals are made of :o) Buy the book! It's worth more than US$7.99.
