I was overjoyed!

I overlooked that it was only an ARTICLE DESCRIBING The Hemingway letters to Marlene Dietrich donated to JFK Library and Museum, 442 word count.
which you are able to keep in your "media" & account download over and over and share with amazon friends. That is where the 2nd star comes in.

Part of the article:
"Drafts of stories and poems also included in gift from actress's daughter

Marlene Dietrich's daughter, Maria Riva, has donated to the library thirty letters written by Ernest Hemingway to Marlene Dietrich. Several early drafts of Hemingway fictions and poetry are also included in the donation from Maria Riva. Under the terms of the deed, the papers will remain closed for four years and be made public in 2007.

Spanning the years 1949 to 1959, the thirty pieces of correspondence written by Ernest Hemingway to Marlene Dietrich include seven authentically signed letters, 18 typed-signed letters, four telegrams, and a Christmas card. Hemingway wrote to the German-born actress from Cuba; Ketchum, Idaho; Paris, France; Venice, Madrid, Malaga and Nairobi."

I am just drooling to read these letters!
However, that article provided nothing that actually gave me any insight into Marlene Dietrich's life.

So, instead I recommend reading Marlene Dietrich written by her daughter, Maria Riva or Blue Angel: The Life of Marlene Dietrich.

Excerpt: Marlene Dietrich (German pronunciation: ; 27 December 1901 6 May 1992) was a German actress and singer, who later gained American citizenship. Dietrich remained popular throughout her long career by continually re-inventing herself. In 1920s Berlin, she acted on the stage and in silent films. Her performance as Lola-Lola in The Blue Angel, directed by Josef von Sternberg, brought her international fame and a contract with Paramount Pictures in the US. Hollywood films such as Shanghai Express and Desire capitalised on her glamour and exotic looks, cementing her stardom and making her one of the highest paid actresses of the era. Dietrich became a US citizen in 1939; during World War II, she was a high-profile frontline entertainer. Although she still made occasional films in the post-war years, Dietrich spent most of the 1950s to the 1970s touring the world as a successful show performer. In 1999 the American Film Institute named Dietrich the ninth greatest female star of all time. Dietrich was born Marie Magdalene Dietrich on 27 December 1901 in Schöneberg, a district of Berlin, Germany. She was the younger of two daughters (her sister Elisabeth being a year older) of Louis Erich Otto Dietrich and Wilhelmina Elisabeth Josephine Dietrich (née Felsing). Dietrich's mother was from a well-to-do Berlin family who owned a clockmaking firm and her father was a police lieutenant. Her father died in 1911. Product Description
... Editorial Review

Product Description

Thinking in Images addresses the current crisis in film theory by offering a new methodology for interrelating theory and film texts. Drawing on the groundbreaking work of Michele Le Duff, Catherine Constable argues that philosophy is reliant on sociocultural images, such as the figures of the veiled woman, the femme fatale, and the seductress. Constable traces the key role such female images play in the theorizations of beauty, art, and truth offered by Nietzsche and his successors: Jacques Derrida, Sarah Kofman, and Jean Baudrillard. Recognizing that images are crucial to theorizing means that film images have the capacity to challenge and change previous theoretical models. This is demonstrated by a case study of three films from the Dietrich/Sternberg cycle: The Scarlet Empress, The Devil Is a Woman, and Shanghai Express. These detailed readings focus on the ways in which Dietrich's glamorous characters challenge the theorization of woman as a beautiful object, thus offering new ways of conceptualizing woman's role as the icon of beauty, art, and truth.
