Great book! An easy read!
Great book with really easy ways to be green. The book also points out how conventional ways are not the best for the planet and gives "greener" alternatives. It provides the reader with a ton of resources and websites. A really quick read for anyone who is looking to better themselves and the planet.

Great for the green beginner
While it's not exactly a perfect how-to guide, it's a great way to start thinking green.I have been interested in doing my part to reduce my footprint on the planet but didn't really have a good way to start.This is an easy read that is informative yet straight to the point.It has countless ways to change everyday tasks so that it's a little bit easier on the planet.Most suggestions are simple and inexpensive and is perfect for someone who has not quite committed to a green lifestyle yet.The back of the book also has tons of great websites and sources to further your research.

THE AUTHORS NEED TO STUDY MORE
i have three problems with this book.

first: it continuously misuses the word "biodegradable." i wish there was some way to contact the authors, but i just cant find that info online. they use the word biodegradable the same way you would use the word "compostable" but they are NOT the same. everything on this planet is biodegradable, but only certain things like food scraps, yard waste, etc are COMPOSTABLE. i seriously cannot believe those two bimbos were able to publish a book about being "green" when they dont even know the vocabulary. when you cant get the vocabulary right from the get go, it makes you question the rest of the content in the book.

second: i hate that cameron diaz who really knows nothing about being environmentally responsible continuously stated how its great that we will all be able to maintain our current lifestyle with this book. NOT TRUE. this book should NOT be interpreted as a tool for everyone to continue consuming the way that they do cameron! the lifestyle american's live is not environmentally responsible no matter what eco-conscious methods you apply to it because we live beyond our means. for example, you can have 30 organic t-shirts made in the usa, but you really dont need that many. its not just about buying as much as you want as long as its environmentally friendly, its about decreasing the quantity which this book doesnt really address.

third: it is EXTREMELY repetitive. i could not believe how many times i was sure i had already read the same exact sentences. i really hate that i bought and read this book.

overall- although this book is great for those who dont know where to begin (especially children. no, im not joking), those of us who know more about what it means to be environmentally responsible know that this book isnt going to make a difference. the changes that it suggests are minimal so its easy for anyone, but also so minimal that nothing substantial will happen. also, if you really want change, you have to challenge the biggest polluters: industries. little individuals like you and me can make small changes on a voluntary basis which are great, but the changes an industry can make through stricter policies are MUCH greater.

Very briefly
There are lots of good ideas bound herein, but because of the poor presentation it isn't worth the paper it's inked on.

Great idea, basic info...
I've read a lot of the books in this genre and I must say, I was pretty underwhelmed by this one.

It lends itself to skimming, the general layout is ok, and if you value celebrity, the pointless one pagers by Ellen Degeneres, Will Farrell and others will appeal to you.
