fun to read aloud
Laughed so much reading the first Tantamoq book that I started reading parts to my family--then we all realized this author reads better out loud anyway.Ordered the whole series from Amazon, but unfortunately they seem to be sold out of the 3rd in the series (another printing? hint hint).May have to go on to the 4th skipping the 3rd.

Cute Adventure
Cute adventure/mystery featuring the watchmaker turned amateur sleuth mouse, Hermux Tantamoq. Very lively story with plenty of action, suspense, and humor. This would be a great read-aloud. Although obviously the second book in the series, it wasn't too difficult to jump right in and follow Hermux on his adventures. I didn't feel like I was missing too much by not reading the first one yet. Recommended.

Hermux Tantamoq-a great book!
This was a cool book about the watch fixing mouse, Hermux Tantamoq! It is the second in a series about him, but it's just as good as the first book(which doesn't happen very much)and I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Sands of Time
It all starts when Mirrin Stentrill, puts on an artshow in the museum. When Mirrin was blind, she saw many visions and so when she recovered from her blindness, she decides to paint pictures of what she saw when she was blind. But it turns out that the pictures she paints are cats- a word no one likes to use in the city of mice and rodents. Then along comes Birch Tentintrotter, an old chipmunk, a friend of Hermux's father. He tells a secret to Hermux; a secret no one knows about, and about a map he had found in a library years ago. Birch believes that cats really did exist. To prove that, Hermux, Birch, and their friend, Linka Perflinger, set off on a journey to the Kingdom of Cats. On their journey, Hermux and his friends uncover the evidence that cats once had mice as slaves. Now, Hermux doesn't know if he's doing the right thing to find the whole truth about them.
Michael Hoeye describes all his characters and the scene very carefully and really well. I like the way he gives a personality to a character and he sticks with it. He doesn't mix Hermux and Mirrin's personality together. It's just Hermux. And it's just Mirrin.
I really enjoyed this book because of the great journey that Hermux and his friends went on. It was so exciting and I really loved how Michael Hoeye made me want to keep reading more and more!

Reifying the bibliographical Zeitgeist...

A family classic series
A tightly edited, carefully written children's book even adults will love. Hermux is a quirky little mouse who finds himself in the unlikely role of set designer and private investigator. He solves a cold case mystery and designs a spectacular set for a musical production in the same story. Hermux is our guy!

We have read each book in the series together as a family and they are written for children but not down to children so that adults are also drawn in. The world Hoeye creates is so visually real it's great for developing comprehension and memory skills. Hermux and his friends have become classics for our family.

No Time Like Show Time
No Time Like Show Time is a story about a young mouse who is always trying to help the community whether they like it or not. The plot has many twists and turns with lots of characters that come into the story with different identities. A young mouse, Hermux Tantamoq is a watchmaker who has a knack for solving mysteries. In this story Hermux helps Fluster Varmint, a famous director and the owner of the Varmint Variety Theater. The theater is in trouble and brings a whole new twist to Hermux's life. The character involved in the troubles of the theater is Dr. Mennus a mole who ruins the young and beautiful Nurella Pinch's acting career and starts the difficulty for the theater years later.

Fluster Varmint's chain of bad events begins when his wife dies shortly after birth of their daughter Beulith. A lot of the story revolves around Beulith and the theater because they are the most important things in Varmint's life. The theater is the only place that Beulith Varmint knows because she grew up around the stage of Varmint Variety Theater.

The other books in this series are Time Stop for No Mouse and The Sands of Time. In the series they all start the same way. Hermux never goes out to find the adventures the adventures always find him in one way or other, leading him into a world he would have never known existed.The first book really starts to explain Hermux life of solving mysteries. I like his writing because the chapters are short so it's easier to read for long periods of time. It's very hard to stop reading this book because it's full of excitement. I liked this book because there is never dull part of the book and the plot never stops. This book is full of suspense and always keeps you guessing.

Delightful, magical, wise, clever, witty and fun!
I love this series so much--the characters are interesting, nuanced, and so well developed. In each book, there is witty social commentary combined with an engrossing mystery. This third installment of the series doesn't disappoint. I'm already eagerly awaiting this fall's release of Time to Smell the Roses.

No Time Like Show Time
No Time Like Show Time was a great book. With lots of adventure. It is about a mouse fighting a crime committed in a theater in his city. With others he works to solve the mystery of the crime. The case is a murder investigation. Varmint Variety Theater was the scene of the crime. They use all kinds of gadgets and brains to seek out this territying crime.
The authors writing style was unique and amazing. All of the words you could tell were not just jotted down they were thought through. It had a great plot and was never slow. It was a book of non-stop action.
I loved this book for many reasons. It had tons of adventure. It was suspensful and full of fun things that always drew my attention. It also had well developed characters. I would give this book five stars because it was awesome. It had all the things that make a great book. If you liked Time Srops for No Mouse and Sands of Time you would definitely like this book.

Great Series
First of all, this is a great series and if you haven't read the first two books then go do it now! No Time Like Show Time was just as suspenseful and cool as the other books and I hope the next book comes out soon! In case you're wondering what it's about, it is set in the world of mice, rats, and other like creatures with the main character a mouse watchmaker named Hermux Tantamoq, who has an otherwise quiet life until he meets Linka Perflinger in the first book, who becomes his new love interest and somehow gets him involved in all sorts of thrilling adventures throughout the first and second books. Besides a new mysterious plot with each book, there is also a little romance for the teen readers, but it is tastefully done and there is nothing, in my opinion, overly romantic. It's impossible not to like Hermux Tantamoq, the watchmaking mouse. He relaxes in a flannel shirt printed with pictures of cheeses from around the world, he has a caged pet ladybug named Terfle, he writes endearing thank-you letters to the universe each night, and he has a big heart--a heart that aches for the fearless aviatrix Ms. Linka Perflinger, who unexpectedly visits his shop requesting an emergency rush repair of her wristwatch. Not the Best Out There
Time stops for no mouse actually doesn't follow much of a story line so it had me confused basicly throughout the entire book. I think this book should be for ages 13 and up because if i was confused by it, a Kindergartener to a sixth grader would definitly pick up this book thinking it's good and get through the first 10-15 pages of it and bring it back to the library unfinished.

Hermux Rocks
Reluctant gumshoe Hermux Tantamoq is a person--er, mouse--who shows his true capabilities when placed in an unusual situation. Fashionistas, noir references, and ethnobotany seeem like unusual subjects for a child's story peopled--er, moused--with fuzzy characters, but it works.

I found an old copy in a store's sale bin, and couldn't decide if it was for adults or children. Still can't--it's great for children and adults alike. How impressed am I? My son gave up videos and computer to hear more "Hermux." We had to pause occasionally to explain some vocabulary and situations, but for older children (say age 8 and up)this is fantastic, imaginative storytelling.

There is a successful author (who shall remain unnamed) who has made his name by inserting rodents into medieval/fantasy epics, and honestly I have never particularly cared for his work. Imagine my surprise when another author (who shall be named Michael Hoeye) inserted rodents into an almost Hitchcockian setting and presented the world with a romp combining James Bond, Stewart Little, and The Number One Ladies' Detective Agency . . . all right, I've gotten ahead of myself, but the mix is a bit like baking soda and vinegar. It seems strange, but it sizzles.
Hermux Tantamoq is a watchmaker with heart and an unexpected nose for mystery. When a beautiful she-mouse leaves behind a severely damaged watch but no other trace it is up to Hermux, with the help of his pet ladybug and other friends, to foil the plots of an evil plastic surgeon and a garish cosmetics tycoon to save the lady and the day.
Where these books achieve most is tone. They are beautifully and intriguingly written. One not quite weak, but indeed curious, part is Hermux's journal where he thanks "something" for good things, like sun and friendship and ladybugs. I'd like to know whom he is thanking. However, the book holds up well and is a quick, joyous read.

To Be Chewed and Digested
When one character accuses another of being a "horrible little...rodent...[a] nasty little vermin!" in Michael Hoeye's Time Stops for No Mouse, on some level, there's a bit of truth to it.That's because this juvenile fiction book is populated by mice, rats, moles, squirrels, minks, and other assorted furry creatures.

A clever mystery novel at heart, Hoeye's debut introduces us to Hermux Tantamoq -a big name for a little guy...er...mouse.Hermux is a solitary watchmaker in the quaint city of Pinchester (location unknown).Ruled by his passion for precision and his orderly jacket and bowtie, his world is turned upside-down by a new customer - aviatrix and adventuress extraordinaire Linka Perflinger.He is smitten with her beauty and zest for life, and out of a general goodness of character and an attraction to this beguiling stranger, he becomes involved in a dangerous game of cat and mouse...well, it's really just mouse and mouse.

I loved this book for so many reasons.First of all, it's just smart.The writing is clever and straightforward.There is no sense of "talking" down to the young audience, and yet it is open and inviting enough for readers of all ages to enjoy.And it really is a fun mystery.What I appreciated most of all is that Hermux is Hermux throughout all of his adventures in detective work.He doesn't morph into the bumbling Joe totally out of his league (although he does have his moments!!), nor does he unlock his hidden "James Bond" and become a super sleuth.Somehow Hermux transforms into something he was all along - a mouse that has a little more strength than he knew, a mouse that has a little more smarts than he knew, and a mouse that appreciates beauty in ways unique to his own set of eyes.There is a sweetness to this story that is a valuable lesson for everyone.

I also have to say, I love the book's dimensions and typeface.Little things to some, but it's not always so bad to judge a book by its cover!(or font!)

To be practical, there's nothing completely unpredictable about this story, but it is certainly fun to wind and wend through the various twists.And one tiny distraction:all the crazy names!!It took some time for me to let go of wanting to know ~exactly~ how to pronounce all of them.You won't blame me when you see names like Pup Schoonagliffen, Tucka Mertslin, and Ortolina Perriflot.I suppose it all just feeds in to the whimsy of the book.

I was surprised to find that Mr. Hoeye is an Oregonian himself, so I'm pleased and excited to be supporting a local author!I also have the next two books in the Hermux Tantamoq series on hold at the library, and I'm looking forward to getting to know this mouse much better!

This book is very confusing and it does not have anything to do with the story until page 60. There was a watch fixer named Hermux. A lady named Mrs.Perflinger came in with a brken watch. Hermux fixed it and Mrs.Perflinger never came back for it. Where's she. Friends will betray. People will trick others. OMG.HOLLY COW.
