From the author: Objective: The Addiction Severity Index (ASI) includes items to assess patients' history of trauma (physical or sexual). The goal of this study was to assess the sensitivity and specificity of those questions in relation to the Trauma History Questionnaire (THQ), a more thorough measure of lifetime trauma and, in addition, to an actual post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis. Method: At the start of treatment cocaine dependent outpatients (N = 110, 65.5% male) were assessed on the ASI, the THQ and a FITSD symptom checklist as part of a multisite clinical trial. Results: Specificity of the ASI questions was higher than sensitivity for both sexual trauma (specificity = .96, sensitivity = .46) and physical trauma (specificity = .71, sensitivity = .50), while for PTSD the sensitivity of the ASI (.91) was higher than its specificity (.43). Other findings indicated that patients were more likely to report trauma on the THQ than on the ASI (which may be due to the self-report format of the THQ); that the ASI was better at assessing sexual than assessing physical trauma; and that the higher the number of ASI trauma items endorsed, the more likely was the PTSD diagnosis. Finally, PTSD patients had greater severity than non-PTSD patients on other ASI items (e.g., psychological severity, need for treatment). Conclusions: The ASI trauma questions show stronger utility as a screen for PTSD than for trauma. Results of the study are discussed in light of ways to modify the ASI to screen more accurately for trauma, clinical implications, and limitations of the study method. (J. Stud. It was also developed to provide a standardized evaluation for patients beginning substance abuse treatment. It measures the severity of the problem in relation to family, social, legal, psychological, employment, and medical problems. The ASI was evaluated as a means of trauma assessment by comparison with the Trauma History Questionnaire and actual diagnosis of posttraumatic stress disorder.

Cool info for battletech fans
Well if you play the game, sooner or later you'll hear about the 'unseen' mechs... And this is the place to 'see' them.

Other then that, its a great resource to grab out some mechs to throw in some far flung off world thing, or create a starleague cache.....

Classic
This is Classic Battletech. If you were into Battletech in the 80's , these were the mechs you fought with. Way before the Clan invasion, i'm talking good old Succession War combat. Enjoy.

Revised, Retooled, Reprinted
Way way way back, before the beginning of the end, FASA had Technical Readouts for its two major game lines, Renegade Legions and Battletech.Renegade Legion is, of course, long since gone, but Battletech still thrives, and one of the most consistent sellers are these, the tech readouts.And this was the first.

Well, not really.See, the original 3025 readout had a bevy of 'Mechs you'd seen in other media, particularly Robotech (say, the Marauder, Warhammer, Locust, etc.).Then, a few years ago, FASA was embroiled in a lawsuit over the use of the images, and things went poorly.So, FASA can't put any more images of the contested 'Mechs in any product.

And so was born the 3025 Revised Readout.All affected 'Mechs were excised, and replaced with Level 1 versions of the old Star League 'Mechs (like the Thug, the Black Knight, Flashman, etc.).Background is inserted to make it seem like they've been there all along, and while there are still some mentions of the old 'Mechs (like Barber's Marauder 2s, a mercenary regiment), we'll never see the old ones again.

I give this a four because it is still the introductory readout, and pretty good.If you can get the original, you should...but it's going to be very hard to find now, as they made the changes several years ago.But this is definitely a book you want to have if you play Battletech.

Excellent Tech readout
I loved this book the first time I had it. Not only did it cover the Overviews, capabilities, and variants of the mrchs, It also gave short personallity listings of some of the pilots (one of the things I miss inthe newer tech readouts). Although it doesnt have some of the older mechslike the Mackie and the King crab, It does have mechs like the Warhammerand Marauder (My favorite)!

Exactly what I needed
The book is very good. The last thing I needed before starting my game. I saw some complains about missing mechs. Well, from what I saw, all the missing mechs are in the Boxed Set (2nd edition at least)and probably forthat reason were exchanged for Star-league mechs (mech that we saw in, forexemple, Mechwarrior:Merceneries and didnt have a clue of where they camefrom).
