When Danny falls in love with Theresa (Ally Sheedy), his mother suddenly has to compete for his attention. As Rose sets out to break up her son's relationship, she finds herself romanced by her amorous neighbor Nick (Anthony Quinn). Meanwhile Danny is just trying to break away from his meddling m other. In the process, he starts having hilarious, guild-ridden fantasies about her demise. Eventually, Danny is forced to choose between duty to his mother and his love for Theresa.
