Product Description

This classic study Bible from C. I. Scofield offers a wealth of helpful features for the student of God's Word. Scofield's introductory notes, cross references, and explanatory footnotes help readers understand difficult passages, while a 96-page concordance and 42-page topical helps section aid in tracing subjects and ideas throughout the Scriptures. Scofield's classic work Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth is also included; add to that a daily Bible-reading calendar and a 72-page reference to subjects, footnotes, proper names, and definitions, and the King James Study Bible becomes an entire library of biblical knowledge!

1-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to Read - Small Text
I've purchased this product and found it to be a strain on my eyes. This book is simple badly created for a reader. Also, the text in the middle is crazy small - I literally have to use a magnifier glass to read.Regarding the footnotes - in given the findings of locating scriptures - this should had been done consistent for easier comparison. For ex:St. John 16:3 should not read in the foot note - St. John XVI:3. There are footnotes given, but no header/subject of any given events.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well done Scofield reference
The King James Version of the Bible is one of the most popular translations available. Some like it best just because of tradition, some because of the poetic flow of so much of the text, and others for a wide variety of other reasons. If the King James is your favorite version then this is one of the few Study Bibles available for that translation.

I read through many of the notes on the bottom of the pages and found them to be both useful and relevant.Although many of the notes cross-reference other verses, historical information, or similar items, some represent specific doctrinal beliefs. Those readers with a conservative belief system will find the notes much more to their liking than those with a more liberal approach. For example, the notes to the creation account in the beginning of Genesis support only one position - there was an original earth that was destroyed and then recreated again with the Garden of Eden. This will cause a lot of fundamentalists great distress and even many conservatives view this as only one of the possible interpretations of the first few verses. The reason for this is because this Study Bible presents the viewpoint of C. I. Scofield with no presentation of any alternatives.

One of the really great features of the book is the material included in the back. For example, instead of just a concordance it contains a real subject index, glossary, index of proper names, topical study, concordance, and an alphabetical listing of the teachings of Christ. This makes it a great book for looking up items by subject instead of having to know specific words contained in the verse or what verses are related to the subject. If you are a fan of Scofield (and there are many) then The King James Study Bible will be one of your favorites. If you are not particularly a fan of Scofield you will still find it a useful resource due to the excellent study and research resources included. The King James Study Bible is highly recommended as a solid study Bible.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best copy
As far as the Bible goes...there is no better book! But as far as this printing goes...it leaves room for improvement.

The type is of a lower quality and has a smudged effect in some places. The text is a little hard to read. And the roman numerals are quite useless, (for someone who hasn't had a math class in 15 years).

I have a HUGE master reference study Bible that I was hoping to use this one as a substitute and less of a physical work out, LOL.But it really hasn't been all that usefull to me as a study Bible.Perfect size for carrying around though.

The feel of the Bible is good, and it lays nice while reading it.But since it is the Bible I just feel better reading from something with a higher quality. Now with that said...this is about the cheapest version out there, how picky can one be without spending a few bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding -
The book came less than one week and it was shipped withing 24 hours.

The book was in new condition and would love to have another at the same price. Thanks so much for excellent service.

3-0 out of 5 stars Economic Version of Scofield Study Bible
This Bible has the original notes of C. I. Scofield, that eventually went into his series of Scofield Study Bibles. However it costs less and is bound with hardened paper (leatherette). The font is a bit old-fashioned and small, but on the whole it is a good value for your money. The only thing that bugged me is that the references to Bible chapter and verse were in Roman numerals.Makes it somewhat difficult if you're not familiar with the L, X, V system.I'm glad I got this version first and hence decided not to get a more expensive Old or New Scofield Study Bible. ... Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos.Excerpt from book:NEW TESTAMENT CHARACTERSNot only was the Holy Spirit the source of all spiritual power in Old Testament times; but He imparted power to John the Baptist, to the Son of God Himself, to the Galilean fishermen, and to all the great saints of New Testament times. By His death on the cross, Christ opened the way for God to pour His Spirit upon all flesh, which He did on the day of Pentecost, ushering in the more glorious dispensation foretold by Joel and other Old Testament prophets. Since the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit has been convincing the whole world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment in a way that He did not do, except with a few individuals, in Old Testament times; and thus, in this dispensation of the Holy Spirit, the world has become more responsible to God because of its increased light and privileges.JOHN THE BAPTIST.John the Baptist, the great forerunner, or herald, of the coming of Jesus, was specially anointed for His mission by the Holy Spirit. The angel, in announcing His birth, said, " For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathersto the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord " (Luke 1:15-17). When he had grown to manhood, John the Baptist preached in the wilderness, proclaiming the coming of the Christ and commanding the people to repent. The multitudes were strangely affected by the preaching of this great prophet. " Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about Jord... ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Encouragement
This book was a great encouragement to me and reminded me that God is still here and still speaks. What He has done for others, He can and will do in a heart that is surrendered to Him.Some of the stories were of people whom I didn't know about, and others were reminders of how He worked with great power through some more well known Christians. All of the stories were encouraging and challenging. When I finished I picked up Thomas A Kempis' book "Imitation of Christ"...seemed like a good way to meditate on God's work in others & how it might become more personal for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Book
What a great read. You should get one and give one as a gift.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, Inspiration Stories But Theological Lacking
I was given this book as a young Christian and easily devoured every word of it.The stories in Lawson's book are awesome. You will be encouraged as you read about the faith and hunger men and women had for the presence of God in their lives.None of the people in the book were satisfied with simply living for Jesus but they wanted to make a divine impact for the kingdom upon the earth. From John the Baptist to John Wesley to many unknowns as well you will read the stories of various Christian experiences in God's presence that transformed their lives.

My one drawback as I look back at this book is the theology of the book.Simply put (as one reviewer put it before me): there is none.Lawson simply tells the stories of the various believers experiences. The book leaves the impression that the Christian life is simply one experience after another or that a Christian needs one "mighty" Holy Ghost experience and that is it.The daily discipleship is lost (Luke 9:23-26).Further, not all experiences should be outright declared from God.We must test our experiences by the Scriptures (1 Thess. 5:21; 1 John 4:1).Doctrine is important (1 Timothy 4:16; Titus 2:1) and we must not allow experiences to become the true test of Christianity (2 Cor. 13:5).

Get this book.Read it and most of all, open your Bible and test everything you read by the truth of God's Word (John 17:17).

5-0 out of 5 stars For the person who is serious about knowing God.
This reader-friendly composite of biographical sketches is directed to the person who is not satisfied with nominal Christian living. The author points directly to each biographee's source of spiritual renewal and/orcompletion, i.e, the Holy Spirit, and subsequent effects. An interestingaspect of this work is its transdenominational nature; no particular sectis endorsed, though many are included by virtue of their highlightedadherants. If the reader is honestly interested in a closer walk with God,this book will provide plenty of inspiration. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't get any better than this....
Great book if you need encouragement. It breaks down different areas you may be struggling with such as Faith, Health, Finance, Friends etc and gives you a list of God's promises relating to those areas. I love it and I keep it by my bedside. A must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bible Promise
I purchased these books for my Sunday School class.I have had a lot of feed back on how well they enjoyed them,Several of them have stated that they have complete the book from cover to cover.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bible Promise Book
I bought these as gifts for the ladies in my Bible Study group and they were so thrilled. This book gives scriptures that are good references for many different types of situations. It's a lot easier than searching and searching through the Bible aimlessly. Though not intended to replace the Bible, these scriptures are a starting place for more intense Bible study.

5-0 out of 5 stars God's Promises
I purchase many books for "free giveaways" to those I feel led to do so.This one, "The Bible Promise Book" is one of my favorites because it's edifying and gives discouraged people hope. God said He is not a man that He should lie therefore, our faith can be ignited or restored. My prayer is that you will trust Him daily. ... Read more
