another wonderful dumpy story
Dumpy Saves Christmas is another wonderful addition for any little Dumpy fan. All the Dumpy stories are amazing and wonderfully written. My pre-schooler loves them all!

Creative
Dumpy the dumptruck lives on a farm with a family.His particular favorite family member is Charlie, a little boy. It's Christmas Eve, and Charlie can't get to sleep. He hears a noise and realizes Santa Claus has crashed his sleigh. Christmas will be ruined if Santa can't deliver the toys to the children of the world, so volunteers get Dumpy to help. It's now up to Dumpy to save Christmas for everyone.

This is a very creative book, and a must read this Christmas.

A reason to turn on the TV
The writing is pallid. The illustrations are numbingly bad. This is an excellent example of what a children's book should not be -condescending, smarmy, hollow and hokey. If it weren't for Julie Andrews Edwards' name on the cover, this book would be a hard sell at a vanity press. Julie, Julie, Julie! This regrettable foray is to children's literature what your topless scene in "Victor, Victoria!" was to drama. Only the topless scene made more sense.
Please, spare the lives of future trees and brain cells. Let Dumpy be pulped.

What a delightful, creative Christmas book!
Dumpy Saves Christmas should be nominated for the Caldecott metal for outstanding illustrated juvenile books.I am pleased that Julie Andrews, her daughter, and her ex-husband are able to collaborate in writing such an imaginative series of Dumpy the Dump truck books.This book has an unusual twist from the traditional Santa Claus and reindeer story.This book is an excellent addition to any child's Christmas library.I am buying several copies of this book for Christmas gifts as well as keeping a copy for myself. ... Lovely
This is a lovely little book for tiny ones to read. Lovely and colourful.
Great gift from Julie and Emma.

Word of warning this is a tiny persons book and not the usual A4 size book with more of a story. This did trip me up, I should have taken more notice of the "board book".Otherwise it is a great little gift.

Fun book with adorable vehicles
I bought this board book for my 2-year-old twin boys mainly because it was written by Julie Andrews and her daughter, but my boys, of course, know nothing of Julie Andrews and have fallen in love with the book itself. They love to go through the pages and enjoy pointing at each of the adorably-depicted vehicles.

Filled to the brim with tons of art from the three movies
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R11HKNH9R2L31L This is another scrapbook style art book from Insight Editions. It's a big vertical hardcover book that is housed inside a thick cardboard box.

The book is filled to the brim with art. Nothing less since it contains work from all three Shrek movies. They are arranged based on location, in an order as they appeared in the movies.

Included are concept art, matte paintings, sketches, character designs, storyboards and movie prop designs. By movie prop designs, I mean art like wanted posters, paintings, cupboards, signages and other props are used in the 3D world. It's also interesting to see storyboard artists portraying their interpretation of Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots.

In between the pages are little booklets with more art. All are well captioned from the perspective of storytelling.

The amazing variety of style showcased is breathtaking and fun at the same time. It's very inspiring and makes me want to pick up my pen and draw something.

It has been a long time coming for this art book and I'm glad to say it's well worth the wait. This book is highly recommended for fans of Shrek, concept artists, production designs or people who just like art.

A Wonderful Treasure Trove for the Shrek Fan
I bought this book as a gift for my husband's 86th birthday. He adores Shrek and this book is the ultimate gift for such a devoted fan.It proves you are never too old to appreciate and enjoy such merriment.

With the DVD release of Shrek 3 just around the corner, Insight Editions has released a beautiful new book with the collector or avid fan in mind.Shrek:The Art of the Quest is a lavishly illustrated hardcover book featuring previously unpublished art from all three of the mega blockbuster films.This includes black & white sketches, storyboards, concept art, models, 3D art...just about everything an Ogre fan could ask for, all in an oversized hardcover that comes in a handsome slipcase.

The first thing you will lay your eyes on are some rare glimpses into Shrek himself and how the initial concept drawings looked far different than the final product.Among those providing some of these concept drawings is longtime comic book artist, Mike Ploog.All of the films major characters are covered including Donkey, Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots, Prince Charming, and Merlin.When you look through the pages you cannot help but be amazed at the intricacy of detail that these talented artists have put into their work.There's even blueprint drawings of the castle.

It's not all pictures, though.The book is filled with interesting anecdotes and comments from many of those technical wizards involved on the films.It's like having DVD extras but with a book instead!With the advancements in animation from the first film to the third, all of the characters were rebuilt.This was a tricky process as their well-known looks had to be maintained while being able to take advantage of the advanced computer technology.The crafting of the models alone was a remarkable undertaking, especially considering this was a 3D animated film.Models were made for each character in a variety of sizes and poses from full body models to busts.It's not all art though, there's a section of photographs showing all of the voice talent (Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, John Cleese, Cameron Diaz, John Lithgow, Eric Idle, etc...)hard at work.

One thing about the books from Insight Editions is that you always get more than just a book.Spread throughout is little surprises that await the reader.There are mini-booklets which show additional storyboards and sketches; a mini-diary written by Princess Fiona herself; punch-out cardboard coasters, perfect for your bottle of Poison Apple Cider or Vipers Venom; a 10 page booklet listing the credits for all three films.This is a remarkable treasure trove of Shrek goodies!

It's a cliche to say it but this is a must have for Shrek fans and would make a great Christmas gift as well.Another wonderful book from Insight Editions!
