Seems we've for ever been talking about doing a movie together, but the right project just hadn't come along until TO DANCE WITH DEATH Jay immediately thought of me for the Angel of Death role, and it was something I really wanted to do from the moment I read his script. D: What did you think of the script? BS: It was very poetic, very evocative. I don't know how he did it,but Jay somehow got in side a teenage girl's psyche, quite effectively.I could see how it might be a little confusing for the viewer, with allthe twisted reality and dream stuff. But I trust it's all clear in the film, since I saw Jay using some interesting visual techniques to clarify his intentions. D: Tell us a Little more about your character? BS: My role is merely called "the Angel of Death". In the script, Ifirst show up in a black business suit, rather sinister, as I watch the main character on a college campus. She later sees me out side her house in a white flowing gown, and later inside her own bedroom. I start to appear in her dreams, as well, takingher to strange places and odd situations.

As a guest of such television shows as "Entertainment Tonight," "Hard Copy," and "Donahue," she was praised for her performances in a series of "T&A" horror classics. After all, who could forget SLAVE GIRLS FROM BEYOND INFINITY, BAD GIRLS FROM MARS, or SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-A-RAMA? Well, truth be told, we had forgotten - up until she bounced back onto the scene last year, starring in eleven movies. "Not even at my so-called peak did I star in that many films in one year," she beams proudly. "2000 was my biggest year ever." But for Brinke, that was only the beginning of her return to the genre that made her a cult celebrity. She started the year with a sixteen-page spread in the January issue of Femme Fatales magazine. The article, devoted to her starring role in the cinema-verite video REAL TIME, was a touching tribute to Stevens, the first woman to don the publication's cover circa 1992. (Everyone from Michelle Pfeiffer to Sigourney Weaver soon followed suit.) In REAL TIME, Stevens dispels her sexy horror-chick image, playing it straight as a pregnant cop for writer/director Max Allan Collins. Many critics have earmarked it "her best performance to date," but her success as a dramatic actress won't deteriorate her love of fright flicks.

She was first seduced by the lure of an audience as a young teen parading about in a homemade Vampirella outfit at a horror convention contest (for which she won first place, by the way). Fates fortuitous hand had placed Forrest Ackerman as one of the judges; that day forged a lasting friendship between the two and bestowed upon Brinke a mentor of sorts, who just happens to be one of the greats of the Horror genre. Despite her youthful film debut in Necromancy (starring no less than Orson Welles Brinke decided to follow a path lit by Academia rather than klieg lights. She graduated from San Diego State University and went on to receive her Masters degree in marine biology from the prestigious Scripps Institute of Oceanography before the entertainment industry finally captured her spirit. In addition to an acting career that has spanned decades; she is also an accomplished author and film producer. The shy young girl has been transformed into a confident woman who has left an indelible mark on her industry with her best, hopefully, yet to come.
