Here is a technology overview of Project JXTA Immediately prior to my current role, I was Director of the Server Products Group at the Consumer Embedded division, working on software platforms and products for information appliances and Internet-capable gateways. My group produced products including Java Embedded Server (JES) and various connectivity technologies. In that capacity, I represented Sun on the Board of Directors at OSGi ( Open Service Gateway initiative ), and until June 2000, I was OSGi's founding Chair of the Java Expert Group where I led the completion of the Service Gateway Specification Release 1.0 that was officially released by OSGi in May 2000. My new book, Programming Open Service Gateways with Java Embedded Server Technology (order through amazon.com) , coauthored with Kirk Chen, is just published in August of 2001 by Addison-Wesley as part of the "From the Source" series. Sometime back I also wrote a short introductary article entitled "A Software Architecture for Open Service Gateways" , which appeared in the 2001 Jan/Feb issue of IEEE Internet Computing.
