Since I was a kid, I got plenty of "Captain Kirk" jokes, but I never really minded the fact that my name backwards is Kirk Douglas. The more interesting part, is that Kirk Douglas is not really HIS name either! His real name is - Issur Danielovitch Demsky. I suppose I should be thankful that my name backwards is not "Boy George" or something embarrassing. It wasn't until recently that I started to admire the actor which my name resembles. I've read his books, and this year for my birthday, I asked for several of his more famous movies. After reading his books, I've found him to be quite a remarkable guy. Born a Jewish immigrant from Russia, he is a deeply religious man, and has a great way of reflecting back on his life with courage, and with a great sense of humor. Over the past few years, he has watched many of his friends and film "legends" like Burt Lancaster pass away, and it has made him look forward, and live a life that is fuller, with dignity. So, Kirk.... I know Anne set up a computer for you (it's in your latest book)... so if you find and read this, drop me a line!
