Utah Statehood Materials: Appendix Includes the professional papers of Donald R. Moorman, a Weber State of an autographalbum, dated 18931894, which belonged Ogden Military Academy Collection. http://www.archives.utah.gov/exhibits/Statehood/appendix.htm
Extractions: University of Utah John Henry Smith, a general authority in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was involved in the business and political affairs of Salt Lake City and the State of Utah. He served as president of the Utah State Constitutional Convention. His journals and correspondence cover the period from 1890 through 1896. (Ms 36) John Taylor served as the third president of the LDS Church. His son, John W. Taylor, a general authority in the church, clung tenaciously to the belief of his father that polygamy was a necessary doctrine of the church. While not focusing too much on statehood, the correspondence in the collection is very useful for establishing the mood of many Utahns in the years leading to and following statehood. (Ms 50) The papers of John T. Caine are included in the Patrick collection. Caine, a grandfather of Patrick, was a territorial delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives and a candidate to be Utah's first governor following statehood. Primarily through correspondence to his family, political leaders and friends, and Mormon Church leaders, his activities which helped lead Utah from territorial status to full statehood are well documented. (Ms 148) In 1896 Clawson was LDS Church stake president in Box Elder County in northern Utah and later was called in 1898 as an apostle for the church. In his diary with accompanying news clippings, he portrays how statehood was gloriously celebrated in his community of Brigham City. (Ms 481)

For convenient presentation of this material, the site includes a page for each of the more than 3,000 counties in the U.S., as well as for various U.S. and foreign territories and countries. The Political Graveyard has no official connection with any of those areas or governments. For more information about this project, please see the Main Page The list of cemeteries here is not comprehensive, nor is it intended to be. This site only lists about 5,000 cemeteries where politicians are known to have been buried (the number grows gradually as more research is done). There are an estimated cemeteries in the United States. The closest thing to a complete list is the U.S. Geological Survey's GNIS database , which lists about 109,000 cemeteries. See also
