Extractions: Woodside Cemetery - Shorewood, Minnesota city of Minnetonka, Hennepin County, Minnesota: T117N - R23W, section 32 This cemetery is up kept and in good shape. The cemetery is located in a residential area at the intersection of Smithtown Road and Cajed Lane in Shorewood. Back in the southwest corner of this cemetery is a large area that is marked by six one foot by one foot squared waist high posts. In the center of the area is a granite monument that reads: Herein Lie The Remains of Those Buried in the Hennepin Count Home Cemetery, Hopkins, Minnesota. From 1865 - 1955 and Removed to Woodside Cemetery July 1955. I contacted the caretaker of Woodside Cemetery and inquired about the burial records from the Hennepin County Home Cemetery (the Hennepin County Poor Farm). No records were transferred with the bodies. The current caretaker stated that all that they were given is the burial permit which listed 580 burials were transferred from the Hennepin County Home Cemetery to Woodside Cemetery. This cemeteries burial monuments were transcribed in July 2001.

Extractions: Amendment in the 1920s? Alva Belmont (1853-1933) (Mrs. O. H. P. Belmont), chief funder of the National Woman's Party, was a southerner by birth who moved to New York City in the early 1870s. Her wealth derived from her marriage to and divorce from William Vanderbilt, and her marriage to the son of a leading New York banker, Oliver Belmont, who died in 1908. In 1909 she threw her energies into the suffrage movement and in 1909 supported the shirtwaist makers' strike. After 1916 she almost single-handedly funded the National Woman's Party. In 1921 she became President of the National Woman's Party, having donated $146,000 for the purchase of a mansion near the U.S. Capitol to serve as the NWP headquarters. See Notable American Women , and Peter Geidel, "Alva E. Belmont: A Forgotten Feminist" (Unpublished PhD diss., Columbia University, 1993). During those years she was married to an American academic and gave birth to two children. Viewing the division within the American women's movement from her British perspective, Brittain emphasized the "singleness of purpose" of the National Woman's Party.
