Extractions: Town of Constantia Many thanks to Kiely Malone , our New Township Editor for Constantia, who generously donated this cemetery list. The reading was taken by her during the month of July this year, in the Town of Constantia, Cleveland, New York - Oswego County. Cleveland North Street Cemetery is in the village of Cleveland, AKA Cleveland Cemetery, located on North Street across the road from the Village Park. Cleveland Cemetery is having major problems with vandalism right now. While doing the recordings, I came across so many stones ( bases and all) toppled over. My husband and one of the village trustees went around fixing them. Kiely is researching the following surnames and would love to share information with others on her family names: Leonard Beebe Bramsley Penree Sharp Phelps Griebno Delong Warner Cummins and Landgraff For further information on any of the names listed below, please contact the local Historical Society, or Town Historian.

Extractions: Papers, 1872-1936 The papers of Austin Mires, Ellensburg Attorney, were purchased by the Washington State University Library in 1967 from a daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Phillips. They were processed by Terry P. Abraham from 9/1/1967 to 6/15/1968. The literary rights in the unpublished writings of Mr. Mires in these papers are reserved by the Washington State University Library. Number of containers: 24 Approximate number of items: 80,000 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES DESCRIPTION AND ARRANGEMENT OF THE PAPERS The papers fall naturally into three series: correspondence, diaries, and miscellaneous items. Series 1: Incoming and outgoing correspondence , dealing with all facets of Austin Mires' political, professional, and personal life. Office notes, invitations (some with pencilled marginalia), bills, and receipts have been retained to provide examples of daily life in the latter period of territorial years and the early part of this century. These papers are valuable in presenting an accurate picture of the diverse activities of Austin Mires. Although Mires himself was not often in public office he was an active participant and candidate and was often called upon by his friends and associates to pass judgment on political situations, party plans, and to give his support to political ambitions. The correspondence files are separated into two groups:

Extractions: Contents List The publishing enterprises of Samuel Sidney McClure are an important facet of early twentieth-century American journalism. The McClure Syndicate, started by Samuel Sidney McClure in 1884, was the first successful company of its kind, and was largely responsible for introducing many American and British writers to a national public. His later venture, McClure's Magazine , contained the influential "muckraking" articles of Ida Tarbell, Ray Stannard Baker, and Lincoln Steffens; it also had the distinction of promoting the then-unknown writer, Willa Cather. Although S.S. McClure's tenuous business competency would cause him to lose control over these ventures in the early part of the twentieth century, other members of his family, most notably his cousin, Henry Herbert McClure (d. 1938), were able to maintain a more steady career in the publishing world through the 1930s.
