Extractions: FLORENCE EDNA HALLOCK Our branch of the family descends through both John and Isaac, (3rd gen.) as Isaac, 7th gen. of the John line married Mary, 7th gen. of the Isaac line. Mary's grandfather, Joshua Odell, is our Revolutionary ancestor. One account says, the first Odell was Walter Flendrensis, brother of Matilda of Flanders, wife of William the Conqueror, and came with him to Engliand in 1066. He must have visited before that time because there is some account of his having reported from there, before the Conquest. In 1086, the Conqueror made him the first Baron of Odell. The Barony was located in Buck, England, the county seat of which was Wahull (or Woodhill), and his descendants were called Barons of Odell and were related closely to William the Norman, Alfred the Great, Edward II, and Henry VIII. Still another account says Odell was made head of this Barony (which was at Odell, Bedforshire, about 60 miles northwest of London, England, where the Odell castle still remains) because of distinguished Military Service in the Conquest.

Extractions: Mudgee NSW Australia Contributed by Reg McDonell, Jul 05, 2002 [ regjean@winsoft.net.au ]. Total records = 233. This cemetery consists of memorial walls of headstones that were relocated from three early cemeteries in Mudgee when they were turned into parks in the 1960s. They were a Church of England (Anglican) cemetery a couple of blocks away, a Presbyterian/Methodist cemetery adjoining it, and a Roman Catholic cemetery which was on the site of the present Memorial Park. The Blackman Family memorial in the old Anglican cemetery was retained in situ in what is now called Blackman Park. The inscriptions on that monument are included in this list. The Council says that, "at the time of their conversion to rest parks, the cemeteries had not been used for more than 80 years, and therefore many headstones were either missing, destroyed, or unsuitable for preservation." Many of the stones that were relocated are now very difficult to decipher. However, by enlarging high-resolution digital images, with reference to Local Government and historical records, and extensive search of the NSW Index of Deaths 1788-1888, we feel that a very satisfactory result has been achieved. The headstones displayed once stood over the graves of the pioneers of the Mudgee district including some of the earliest white settlers in this area. The park, within two blocks of the CBD, is maintained in excellent condition by the Mudgee Shire Council, Market Street, Mudgee NSW 2850 Australia http://mudgee.nsw.gov.au/, from which further information can be sought. This list was compiled by Reg and Jean McDonell of Mudgee, during June/July 2002.

Notes for Henry Allen and Abigail Massie (These notes come to me from Bill Allen and are from something titled "Henry and Abigail Massie Allen" by Shirley McCoy Smith): "Henry Allen (1808-1849) and Abigail Massie (1814-1881) were married November 6, 1832, in Jackson County, Ohio he, age 24 and she, 17. "Abigail was born December 16, 1814, in Monroe County, Virginia (now West Virginia on Virginia border) of Jeptha Massie and Anna Meadows. At one time the family was in Greenbrier County, adjacent to and north of Monroe. Sometime after Abigail's birth and prior to 1820 (during her first five years), the family moved from Monroe County to Jackson County, Ohio, along with some of Jeptha's brothers. Abigail was said to be a relative of Henry Massie, founder of Portsmouth, Ohio.

Extractions: Start of: [Surname Index] [Chenoweth names] [Other surnames] [Descendant tables] JOHN(3) 1751- 1820 John was the first son of Thomas Chenoweth and Mart Prickett, born May 15, 1751 Frederick Co., VA. He served in the Revolutionary War and married Rachel Kerr about 1780, probably in Mason Co., KY where he is found in the 1790 Census. She is thought to be the daughter of Benjamin Kerr. They had 7 children over the course of ten years. The Chenoweth histories list all John and Rachel's children as born in Ohio. John is believed to be the first of his siblings to move to this area of Ross County in the Scioto Valley that would become Pike County. But Rachel January 16, 1792, one week after her last son, Elijah, was born, and, by the Census, John was still in Mason Co., KY in 1790. So it is likely that all these early children were born in Kentucky. LOCATIONS: Frederick Co., VA, Allegany Co., MD, Mason Co., KY, Ross Co., OH, Shelby Co., KY, Vigo Co., IN
