Extractions: William Gardner b. 1861 Toddington Stanway He Married Kezia Wiggins nee Pratt in 1883 at Blockley when he was 23 years old He died at Stow-on-the-Wold workhouse in 1932. William was a farm labourer and a shepherd on the Springhill estate near to Blockley. They lived at "back ends" in Hubert Cottage and then in Day's Lane which is near to Hells Corner in the village. They moved to Troopers Lodge later, where his wife Kezia took up her job as gate keeper. The lodge carpets were made of hare skins, as were the covers on the bed. William used to cure them by rubbing salt petre on them. He also had a muzzle loading shotgun. William was a game keeper and agricultural labourer. The cemetery is in two parts, the smaller fenced part being south of the larger part. Mrs. Blake said the property was known as the Smith Farm, but Mrs. Gardner owned it first.
