It describes much of Cumbria that is related to the many literary persons who were inspired by it. The indexes cross referance all places associated with a person, and all persons associated with a place. (£9.99, Chatto and Windus, 1994). Gavin Smith has written 'The Lake Poets', which covers the lives and works of Hartley Coleridge, Samuel Coleridge, Thomas de Quincey, Robert Southey, Dorothy Wordsworth and William Wordsworth. He describes a selection of their work, and also lists places in the Lake District associated with them. The book was published by Dalesman in 1998, and includes many drawings by the local artist Christine Isherwood.
