Extractions: Our notes of individuals are set out, as in other groups, in alphabetical and date sequence. Alexander is a fine choice to start with. He sounds like a rogue! He was born in New Milford, Conn, and married Lucinda Evans, who was 2 years younger than him. They had six children. Henry Anthon Bostwick reports, curtly, in his book: "He left home with a cargo of lumber and was never heard from." That is all we know! Was he by trade a lumber merchant, a carrier and warehouseman, or just a thief? Between 1810 and 1821 Lucinda bore him six girls. Was that his problem? Could he face no more? The New York Times on 28th February 1935 reported his death at his home in New Milford. He had been born in New York City. He was a Past President of Litchfield County Medical Association, and Vice-President and Director of New Milford Savings Bank. He was a Freemason and a member of the Racebrook Country Club of New York. Mrs. Blanche Donnelly Page

Extractions: mother: [Ward], Margaret(? - 1660) He lived and was taxed in Salem, removed to Wenham, Mass., but returned to Salem, and had been taxed during his absence, but, learning the circumstances of his absence, his taxes were remitted. Mr. Rix and his wife were members of the First Church, Salem, from which they both withdrew, June 6, 1703, the year he went to Preston, Conn. He went to Stonington, Conn., in the summer of 1703, but bought the same year a large tract of land in Preston of Joseph and Ephraim Minor. In Preston, and near his farm, is an old burying ground known as the "Rixtown burying grounds," where many of the family are buried. The old homestead had remained in the family until about 1880, when it passed to others, but, as a correspondent wrote, "The farm is there still." November 22, 1727, James deeded to his son, Thomas Rix, "for in ye consideration of ye natural love, good will and fatherly affection that I bear to my loving and dutiful son Thomas Rix of Preston, a certain tenement and housing and lands, being two-thirds of ye farm that I now live upon, reserving to myself and my wife Margaret part of ye house." I worked over five years with Bob Bockmiller who lives in Maryland, researching the Maryland Rawlings families from the 1600's to early 1800's. We ignored all that had previously been written about this family as so many errors have been circulating for years. We just relied on a search of the records for our data. Bob is a descendant of Richard Rawlings d. 1696 Anne Arundel Co., MD. You will have some surprises as our research was from the opposite direction of yours. Philadelphia's direct line:
