Extractions: Pine Valley Cemetery and Missionary Baptist Church San Jacinto County Texas Submitted by Wade Ellisor This cemetery is located at 500 Big Woods Rd. New Waverly, Texas 77358 The following is from the Texas Historical Marker at the Pine Valley Cemetery; The organizational meeting for this church was held about 1868 in the smokehouse of David Pursley. The Earliest sanctuary was a log building constructed by the members, and the Rev. Lewin Adams (1822-1899), who is buried here, served as the first pastor. The community burial ground served the pioneer settlers of the area. The earliest marked grave is that of Susan Henly Irby (1825-1878) who died here while on a visit from Mississippi. An early member of the Tryon Baptist Association, the church celebrates homecoming here each May. This index was completed on 09-21-2000. I have included in this list, information as known to me about spouses, children, etc. As with any work of this sort Im sure there are mistakes. Anyone who has any corrections, and/or additional information about the people buried here please contact me. My mailing address is : Wade Ellisor 101 Ellisor Rd.
