Elizabeth Von Arnim (1866-1941) S5¢fritz (S-nickel-fritz) January 7, 2000 - Present A Small Dog Indeed! Kelly, our Irish Wolfhound, departed this world on Sunday, January 16, 2000 at about 8:30 PM. Over her last three years we began to see her age. Due to her untiring devotion to Steve, we knew we couldn't get another dog while she was alive. We did prepare for her passing. We checked the breed books and stopped by a number of dog shows. It became apparent that the Border Terrier was the dog for us. It would be a fine companion willing to walk in all sorts of weather. A fine camper and traveler, it would wander around the United States with us. Having contacted a number of breeders, we located a fine litter and requested a female puppy. We had a bit of a wait, though, as the puppies were young. During that wait, some things became apparent. When we researched our choice we thought a small breed would be best. But without our massive friend we suddenly were left without the security she provided. When at a campground we would be walking late at night without our guardian. This wouldn't work.
Fezziwig husbands, children, lovers and friends are all very well, they are notthe dog. Elizabeth von Arnim (18661941). Fezziwig. A Small Dog! http://www.wolfswords.com/dogs/fezziwig/

Elizabeth Von Arnim (1866-1941) Fezziwig A Small Dog! Kelly, our Irish Wolfhound, impressed itself so strongly to Steve that Mary felt like she didn't have a dog. During the Christmas season of 1991, it was decided Mary needed a dog. Again we went to the books and found a toy poodle would be the perfect choice. Based on the recommendation of our vet, we found just what we were looking for at a local breeder. We agonized over a name for this little animal. Mary really enjoys watching Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol . During one such preview, the name "Mr. Fezziwig" was used and BANG! We had a name for our little poodle. Intruder Alert! Upon his arrival at our house, the tiny six pound dog proceeded to walk up to the rather perplexed 157 pound Irish Wolfhound, sniff its nose, walk past it to the Wolfhound's food dish and begin chowing down. This is an excellent example of why the Wolfhounds are called the "gentle giants". This is also why poodles are known as a breed you shouldn't overfeed. They have priorities and food is way up at the top of their concerns. The Vet Said NO!

G.W. married the daughter of a former New York City mayor in 1808, was the first U.S. government geologist, and ended up in 1844 as the British consul in Le Havre, France.)
