Fredericksburg holds higher total crime status in the medium rate in comparison to its surrounding because of the higher density of population in the city. The population from the major cities, such as Washington, D.C., has sent a wave of migration from the city to the less populated areas in the lower counties, such as Stafford and Spotsylvania. Fredericksburg, a city located to the south of Washington, D.C. and north of Virginiaís capital city, Richmond, has been said to hold the oldest history in the country.
