A plain-English guide to the basics of trig
From sines and cosines to logarithms, conic sections, and polynomials, this friendly guide takes the torture out of trigonometry, explaining basic concepts in plain English, offering lots of easy-to-grasp example problems, and adding a dash of humor and fun. It also explains the "why" of trigonometry, using real-world examples that illustrate the value of trigonometry in a variety of careers.
Mary Jane Sterling (Peoria, IL) has taught mathematics at Bradley University in Peoria for more than 20 years. She is also the author of the highly successful Algebra For Dummies (0-7645-5325-9). ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I did not like it at all!
I felt my instructor is not doing too well when it comes to teaching and I didn't want to buy the expensive textbook for the class. So I bought this book in hopes I could learn something. I learn by being shown solutions to a problem, but this book doesn't give you that. It only gives you the 411 on the subject which I still don't understand... This book is a mess! Out of desperation, I ended up buying an expensive crappy used-book from a_teambooks sellers here in Amazon.

4-0 out of 5 stars from complex to simple
Trig for Dummies helps me understand the basics, and advanced concepts, in trigonometry. If you're thinking about buying this book, I suggest it. I had no regrets after I purchased it.

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic
This a very good learning tool for someone who doesn't know a thing about trigonometery. I am glad to find such a product that is like having a tutor around 24 hours a day. Thank you, Lyle J. Christenson.

I Love Math - Great Help for kids

2-0 out of 5 stars Are you kidding??
18 pages in, and I find an egregious error:

Page 18:
Example: Find the area of a circle if the angle between the two radii forming the sector is 80 degrees and the diameter of the circle is 4.5 inches.

1. Find the area of the circle.
The area of the whole circle is A=(pi)r² = (pi) · (4.5)² = 3.14 · 20.25 = 63.585, or about 63½ square inches.

Now, either this is poor math (by not converting the diameter into radius), or poor editing (by meaning radius as opposed to diameter).Whichever it is, it doesn't instill a lot of confidence in the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference book
bought the books for my daughter who is an elgebra teacher, who wants to
go on.She is enjoying the books very much and is on the sixth chapter of the trig. book and workbook. She is also working the pre-calculus book and workbook. So far as a mom I'm batting a hundred.Thank you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Trigonometry Workbook for Dummies
I purchased this workbook for my grandson to augment the material he is using in school. It has helped him immeasureably in understanding trigonometry and going a bit farther than the classroom curriculum goes. He has shown increased interest in the subject as a result.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too Many Errors; Proofreading is Missing
I was in a bit of a quandary as to how to rate this book.I bought the book and the companion "Trigonometry for Dummies" to refresh my trig skills, long rusted after nearly 50 years of little use. Both books are really quite good although the workbook could be more comprehensive. The big problem with this workbook, and to a lesser extent with the "Trigonometry for Dummies" book, is the large number of errors and typos in the book. One works out a very complicated identity problem only to find that the stated problem is different from the problem answered due to typographical errors.I don't think I went seven pages without finding an error. Most of the errors were changed minus or plus signs. This made maintaining confidence in the book very difficult.

One would think that a big publisher like Wiley would employ competent proofreaders.I would also expect them to have an errata sheet somewhere on their web page. But, nooo, nothing helpful there at all except a glossary they forgot to put in the main trig book.

Overall, both books were very helpful, with the exception of not having a lot of confidence that the answer to the problem I was trying to solve would be correct.

4-0 out of 5 stars a first course in trig
If you have never done trigonometry before, Sterling gives a gentle introduction. She assumes some previous acquaintance with geometry and simple algebra and analytic geometry. But not too much of the latter, so don't let this scare you off.

The trig concepts are slowly introduced and explained at some length. With plenty of examples. Now, you really should tackle as many of the problems as possible. Yes, it takes time. But if you want a solid, fluid grasp of trig, you have to spend the time to familiarise yourself with sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant and cosecant.

There are certainly numerous relationships between these functions. You don't have to know all of them. But being acquainted with them, and knowing where to look for formulae in a book like this is useful. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad service
The book never arrived to my house. NEVER¡ No email no phone calls to explain anything. I was really desappointed with the service.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fast delivery
This book arrived very fast, in only 3 days. Although there were some pencil marks inside, it was in good condition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book-no need for a teacher!
I used this textbook last year for my Algebra II class. I personally loved this book. It had very good, worked-examples in each section that were exactly the same as the practice problems given. Most textbooks start out with some information explaining what is going on, and then the student is just supposed to put the pieces together on how to do the problems, whereas the examples in this book show the student exactly how to do the problems. My algebra teacher was not very good, and while she did work out examples on the board for the class, they just never made sense. By the end of the year, I stopped even listening to her lessons and I just did the problems in the book on my own. I made an A in the class, and even though math is one of my weaker subjects, I think I learned enuogh to do fine on the SAT and ACT.

However, my teacher disliked this book. She said that it really needed to include more graphing, and that it was outdated.

To each his own, I guess. I definitely think that its many clearly layed out examples helped me.

5-0 out of 5 stars It is just GREAT for its price!
It looks kind of old but actually it's pretty new and there is almost no notes inside!
It's supper cheap for its quality.

1-0 out of 5 stars from a college math instructor
This book is improperly organized - concepts in mathematics must be understood from the easiest level to the most difficult - this book presents the material for memorization, NOT understanding. This is the first time that I encounter math organized in such a way. While everything is explained well enough, the lumping together of too much information for difficult concepts makes it difficult to learn properly. Try McKeague instead, same title, just a much better book.

1-0 out of 5 stars text book
I never received this book because it got lost in the process. I then had to order it through the school book store and pay full price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bad Service
I noticed that I ordered the wrong book about 3 minutes after the order and asked the seller if she could not ship it because of this. She said it already shipped, I did not get the book for 25 days. What a joke, she could have told the truth.

3-0 out of 5 stars damaged book, company good

3-0 out of 5 stars Non-comprehensive
A little background on my situation. I need to pass (preferably with an "A")college trigonometry in order to obtain my degree. Math has always been my weak area. I had attempted to take it about a year and a half ago, and it didn't end well. I ended up dropping the class.
Since then, I have decided to barge into the mathematics world once again in order to properly defeat trigonometry. My plan was to get a comprehensive book on trig and learn everything during the summer; then, I won't feel so behind and lost in class. I choose this book due to the great reviews.
I'm on page 50. It's not what I expected at all. It goes into great detail on the easy topics and hardly does anything on the difficult ones. It doesn't show all the steps to solving the math. It doesn't explain how to use your calculator along with the equations (i.e. When do you press cos, sin, tan, cot, etc. in the equations?).
This book reminds me of borrowing notes from someone that is doing really well in class. It doesn't really teach you what's going on, but if you know what's going on, it could come in handy. I think perhaps when I am getting assignments, and I want to better understand it, this book will be useful. However, it's not capable of TEACHING. It's more like a handy reminder for people who already know. The description for it, I feel, was inaccurate. I think I'm going to invest in Dummies. Sigh.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book !
Received the book in quick order which is usually the case from Amazon and was impressed with the first look at the book.Have not had a great amount of time to get into it yet but the first impression on leafing through the pages is that it appears to be laid out well and am looking forward to it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent trig book
I bought this book and Trignometry for Dummies to help me prepare for my first trig exam in college. My professor is good, but his explanations aren't always clear and I really needed something to bridge the gap. This book does an excellent job of explaining not only HOW to do things, but WHY.It's even better than the textbook I was required to buy for the class. As for the other book, Trig for Dummies, it's just doesn't hold a candle to this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Trigonometry Presentation!
This is the best book out there on learning trigonometry. I especially appreciate the visually oriented focus. Each concept is described in all its forms, such as sine.Do you know each of the different ways sine can be described? Like the other Master Math books by Ross, the topics flow logically and are in context with what precedes and follows. It is thorough yet concise, and packed full of everything you, as tutor, or your kids need to know. The real world and fun applications are wonderful! The information is explained clearly and in a way that makes sense, so that a given concept is explained in such a way you understand what is being discussed rather than just memorizing formulas. What a breath of fresh air after the often-confusing text books I was and my children are given in school. I really feel I understand trigonometry after reading this book! If I were going back to school, and taking math or science, this book would be in my backpack. Also recommend: Master Math: Geometry. Master Math: Algebra. Master Math: Basic Math and Pre-Algebra. Also loved her novel: ARROWS THROUGH TIME: A Time Travel Tale of Adventure, Courage, and Faith

5-0 out of 5 stars For those who've had the math before, but want to brush up
Students, teachers and parents alike will appreciate the application-oriented focus of this book, which reviews basic geometry and trigonometric functions and pairs explanations of these basics with practical applications. This adds new life and depth to the process of review for those who've had the math before, but want to brush up. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this book if you are just beginning Trigonometry.
This book is good for one thing, a Quick Review.I suppose I can't blame CliffsNotes, since that is given in the title of the book.I bought this book when I was beginning to learn Trigonometry, along with another textbook.I found that a lot of the things the textbook went over was not even mentioned in this Quick Review book.If you have taken Trigonometry in the past and want to refresh some of the basic trigonometry concepts, then this book is for you. However, if you know nothing about Trigonometry and want to learn about it, this book will do nothing but CONFUSE you.

Most people that will look into these books are people who want to learn the subject for their first time, so take my advice: instead of buying this book, save that money towards a better, complete basic trigonometry textbook.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Download for the e-book does not happen
You credit card gets charged and there is no refund. Then you spend several hours trying to get the download and it does not happen.Better to order from http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/

1-0 out of 5 stars Take another look
This book seems to be pretty nice, until you start finding all the super horrible mistakes that are thrown in ever couple of pages. They are all do the this book not being edited, and make it a hassle to read as you have to second guess everything that is written. I got about half way done and the mistakes turned me off so bad I put the book away and don't intend to read from it again. This book could have been a real nice book but the mistakes are just too horrible to look over.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy Little Summary
After several years in a corporate engineering job, I started moonlighting as a math tutor. The Cliff's Quick Review Guides are wonderful to have in my "back pocket" when I need to quickly look something up that is covered in dust in the "archives of my brain."

5-0 out of 5 stars Great series...Great book.
I'm a (returning :P) university Freshman preparing for the College Board CLEP tests.I was already familiar with the material covered in this book, but needed to refresh my memory. This review turned out to be *exactly* what I needed.

The author's ability to explain the material to the student are just shy of enlightening. The discussions & theorem proofs are written in a very concise, clear style.

I'm a big advocate of the Cliff's QuickReview series.Intended as a course supplement, these books are also *GREAT* for students wanting to refine their skills. Most of them are also very accessible to students with less familiarity on the subject; trying to learn it for the first time.

After reading this, I bought the Calculus & Differential Equations QuickReviews & I'm looking forward to reading them! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Test Review
I first purchased this book over 3 decades ago.I've used it several times, always the night before some sort of aptitude test or exam that included pre-calculus math.I used it to pass the math CLEP test, placement exams for college and grad school, and the ASVAB test to get into the Navy. Each time, I went through the entire book in one evening just before taking the test.It worked like magic.I totally aced the math every time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding book.
As a professor who teaches Capital Markets in a Masters program in Finance, I only wish that all my students came prepared with this much math (let alone, basic calculus).

To answer criticisms first. This is not a book to learn pre-calculus math from, with no previous exposure -- the explanations are too condensed; the reader is expected to fill-in key steps from his/her previous knowledge.

However, for those reviewing topics for which they already have some understanding, I cannot think of a better book.It cuts down to the essence what often takes 500, verbose pages. It is a excellent summary that requires the reader to be active and think through the steps along the way.

Again, for those who have previously studied the topic, what would be a good follow-on for elementary calculus?Probably, either Spivak:

http://www.amazon.com/Hitchhikers-Guide-Calculus-Michael-Spivak/dp/0883858126/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257190231&sr=1-17

or Kleppner and Ramsey:

http://www.amazon.com/Quick-Calculus-Self-Teaching-Guide-2nd/dp/0471827223/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257190721&sr=1-1

Personally, I would slightly prefer Kleppner and Ramsey (because it goes a little further, without sacrificing understanding).

5-0 out of 5 stars Best quick review I've seen
As a scientist (but not mathematician) I think that this book is an excellent review for students that have already taken these courses in high school in preparation for a college calculus class. It is a distillation of the key principles covered in high school that are necessary to succeed in calculus courses. It could also serve as a preview of upcoming material for motivated students (e.g. a high school student could read the chapter on algebra over the summer before actually taking algebra). It isn't suitable as a stand-alone text, but then it doesn't imply that it is one. I used it in conjunction with a couple calculus review texts ("for Dummies") to refresh after a twenty-year hiatus before successfully tackling differential equations.

5-0 out of 5 stars all good stuff, no fluff
I love this book and refer back to it regularly. It has the most succinct explanations of many subjects in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry that I've seen. What a waste of paper all those other precalculus books are!

2-0 out of 5 stars Inadequate
This book might be used as a quick reference to check formulas, but it's inadequate for learning or even refreshing.Perhaps it's unrealistic to expect much of a book with "in a nutshell" in the title. However, the author doesn't even bother to provide answers to all of the review exercises.Instead, only answers to "selected" problems are shown. There are quite a few superior books available which do a much better job of presenting this material. ... These authors have created a book to really help students visualize mathematics for better comprehension. By creating algebraic visual side-by-sides to solve various problems in the examples, the authors show students the relationship of the algebraic solution with the visual, often graphical, solution. In addition, the authors have added a variety of new tools to help students better use the book for maximum effectiveness to not only pass the course, but truly understand the material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great in Many Ways
As a math tutor, I am familiar with many books.I really like this book because it explains everything I would want the student to know.It illustrates all the common pitfalls very clearly.

***** 5 stars for presentation (layout, typesetting, use of color, organization).

***** 5 stars for content (the authors seem to be very in touch with what explanations work for students both in the short term, and what explanations are best for them in the long term.)

***** 5 stars for the exercises. There are a lot of exercises in each section (usually around 100?).They cover the basics all the way up to what they call the 'sythesis' problems, where the student can challenge themselves to do advanced problems.I really like the synthesis problems because they are do-able and can make the student start to feel confident.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value!
I needed this book for college. The college was charging well over $100 dollars and I had a very limited income. The price was great and the book was brand-new! Great deal!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
Arrived in good time and the condition was good except it got wet in shipping.I would recommend not wrapping products in wrapping paper. Some of the pattern from the paper transferred to the book, no significant damage.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Decent Trig Text
This is a pretty good Trig textbook. Some concepts are thoroughly explained, while others leave much to be desired. It is a good book if you have a clear professor. Otherwise, I might look elsewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars GOOD & FAST
All i have to say is that I received the book a couple of days after it was shipped. Shipping was really fast and as for the book... It did not seem new, but it was well kept. I have to say it was a great buy though...!

5-0 out of 5 stars The most Recent and "Up to date" Trig Textbook!
This textbook was very well organized, and well written. Each of the 8 chapters were easy to understand, and very up to date. This book also had great graphics and examples for all problems and concepts. The main thing I liked about this book was that it is NEW, rather than other textbooks from like the 1980's. It is full of very valuable information, and you may find it hard to give up, when you are done using it. It definitely is a great mathamatics textbook, and one that you can tell took a lot of hard work and time in producing. 10/10!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars very satisfied
Arrived earlier than I thought. Everything was fine with my book. Clean and in good condition

4-0 out of 5 stars Good material
The material presented in this book is straight forward and includes much history of the concepts within Trigonometry. It gives a good holistic understanding of trigonometry, connecting some material to future applications in calculus, though probably not near as much as a trig/calc book of course. The homework problems develop at a good pace. This is not a phenomenal book, but it is definitely a solid text book that will teach you trigonometry well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trig book
This is the best math book ever. The explanations are so clearly laid out that it is almost impossible to not understand it.I wish every math or science book was written the way this one is.The writers have not over complicated the instructions and the examples in the book actually help you with the problems that are at the end of each section. The web site is also very helpful, but I only had to use it for one chapter... because the book was so awesome. This book definitely helped me get an A in the class and helped prepare me for Calculus.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not awful, but frustrating...
This is the textbook for my college trigonometry class. I find it to be rather frustrating, as often, there are section review questions that are NOT covered by the examples, and often require different skills or formulas than you have learned in that section. I have had to google explanations several times when the book's explanation of a concept was inadequate. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just-In-Time Algebra and Trigonometry
Great value. Very good condition. Super fast delivery. Would buy from this vendor again. Thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid if you need a refresher, unsuited if you need to learn it
If you have previously studied and largely understood algebra and trigonometry and just need a quick review, then this book is right for you. However, if you haven't studied these topics or didn't understand them the first time, then it will be of little value. The coverage is thorough in breadth, starting with the basics of adding and subtracting all types of numbers through logarithms, exponential functions and trigonometry. Only a few pages are devoted to each topic with exercises at the end of each section. Solutions to some of the exercises are given at the end, although in my opinion there should have been more.
While the explanations are short, to the extent that it is possible in a small number of pages, they are through in depth. In a section that I found interesting, the dy/dx notation for a derivative is used. However, knowledge of calculus is not required, the reader is simply being asked to algebraically solve for dy/dx rather than use any knowledge of what it represents. Used in the manner for which it was intended this book is an effective tool in the study of precalculus material.
Note: This book is nearly identical to the companion book, "Just-In-Time: Algebra & Trigonometry for Early Transcendental Calculus." It would be a waste of money to buy both.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow ... great book!!
This book is totally great. I've seen very few books that explain mathematical concepts as well as this. The authors actually made math look easy by providing a lot of examples and writing in a more conversational, informal style (like the style in the Idiot's Guides series). It's a lot clearer than Barron's and Cliffs. Often there is a lot of humor added in.

As the title of this book indicates, this book is intended for calculus students in college who are struggling in their courses. However, for high school students who are using this book to teach themselves new concepts or using this as a tutorial, review, etc. I would recommend this as a supplement to another text. The book is somewhat brief and does not go through the advanced and nitty-gritry areas of algebra and trigonometry. This is intended to be a remedial "catch-up" book and is not targeted specifically towards the hig school student. But high school students, teachers, and curious readers will all find this book very helpful for making hard math look simple.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cheap, highly-focused and useful review for calculus
I'd taken Calculus ten years ago and needed to retake it. After working through 'Forgotten Algebra', this book was a godsend. It's B.S.-free and highly focused on what you need BEFORECalculus. If you buy the first edition used (as I did), then it's cheap.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book for review
These guys are geniuses for presetnting complex information in a digestable, direct, witty, and accurate manner.Great for remembering forgotten trig and algebra.Awesome calc primer.

I salute a rare erudite math professor who can actually teach.Where can we find more?My school is full of passive aggressive math professors who know their stuff but cant teach.

Product Description
"Trigonometry", a work in the collection of the "Gelfand School Outreach Program", is the result of the successful collaboration between two experienced pre-college teachers, one of whom, I.M. Gelfand, is considered the most distinguished living mathematician. Gelfand's impact on generations of young people, some now mathematicians of renown, continues to be remarkable.

All basic topics in Trigonometry are covered with an emphasis on beautiful illustrations and examples that treat elementary trigonometry as an outgrowth of geometry, but stimulate the reader to think of all of mathematics as a unified subject. The definitions of the trigonometric functions are geometrically motivated. Geometric relationships are rewritten in trigonometric form and extended. The text then makes a transition to a study of the algebraic and analytic properties of trigonometric functions, in a way that provides a solid foundation for more advanced mathematical discussions.

Like other I.M. Gel'fand treasures in the program, Algebra, Functions and Graphs, and The Method of Coordinates, Trigonometry is written in an engaging style, and approaches the material in a unique fashion that will motivate students and teachers alike. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not very good for self study.
I had purchased this book based on all of the positive reviews from this website and others. However, I was not at all happy with the result. The book itself does not explain anything. It makes learning a chore and kills every ounce of motivation to learn math. My two recently purchased Calculus books (Calculus Made Easy and A First Course in Calculus) made the subject fun and motivating. Everything was explained thoroughly and the solutions were given unlike this Trigonometry book.

Simply put - no solutions, no explanations, and no motivation to learn. It is not a good book for anyone wishing to self learn Trigonometry.

Good luck with your purchases!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good geometrical approach to trigonometry
This book is a very nice change away from the overly analytical approach that most trigonometry texts take nowadays. In my view something is lost when the geometric aspects are not emphasized. There is some fantastic geometry in this book, and I especially liked the connection between the sine addition formula and Ptolemy's theorem for quadrilaterals inscribed in a circle. Those kinds of connections are not only neat in themselves, but I think they help to understand the material better. I think they can spark students' interest more than the dull plug-in-the-numbers types of exercises in most books.

Speaking of the exercises, many of them are excellent. As some other reviewers have mentioned, it's nice to see a book at this level not insult the intelligence of its readers. I wish more elementary math textbooks were like this.

The only criticism I have is that there are lots of errors and typos in the book, enough to make me give it only 4 stars instead of 5. For instance, in Exercise 8 on p.147 it asks the reader to prove that (cos a)^2 <= cos(2a). Of course, that inequality should be reversed. And there are many more annoying little errors like that, which makes me believe that no one actually proofread the book.

2-0 out of 5 stars Huge Disappointment!!
I usually buy books that have good feedback because it has served me well in the past, but unfortunately this isn't the case with this book. The author couldn't have picked a more perplexing way to explain this subject. Yes it's filled with problems, but what good are the problems if you don't have the correct answer nor do you have an explanation on how to solve them. Don't let the wonderful reviews fool you. If you still think it's worth a try, then I advise for you to look at a copy before buying.

4-0 out of 5 stars Trig-Gelfand
Books
This is a very good Trig book. However, there was no offer of an answer book. I will teach a course using this book. Can you give me a site where I can get an answer book? With the answer book I could give 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trigonometry is all about triangles!
So I bought this book for some Trig class I signed up for at the last minute. I didn't know what to expect. I skimmed through the book and saw triangles everywhere. I figured that a few triangles should not be so difficult to figure out- the measurements and all. It's a skimpy little book, but there sure is a lot of info crammed in there. I studied hard. I had dreams of triangles floating around, suspended in the air. I could not get triangles off my brain. Day and night- triangles and more triangles. I think I just got sick of looking at triangles come final exam, because I went out and got hammered to get them off my mind just hours before the exam. I'm not BSing you either. To make a long story short, I took the exam while under the influence of alcohol. It worked, the booze got the triangles off my brain, but the timing was not good because I had to think about triangles in order to finish the darn exam. I had a perfect GPA until that Trig exam. I did manage to pull off an A- on the exam, which surprised the heck outta me. Now I try to not let triangles get the best of me anymore. I'm angry at them, but at the same time I understand them. Triangles deserve respect. Don't be boozin' before an exam. This was a good book and I recommend it highly. But some advice first; don't be square and let the triangles shape your mind- think outside the box and you'll do fine, circle the correct answers if you can, and come at problems from different angles. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Trigonometry
I was very surprised that the book I ordered was in such good shape and in hardback(thoughgt it would be in paperback). I saved about $112 buying it from Amazon!!

3-0 out of 5 stars somewhat overpriced
Trigonometry hasn't changed in centuries. I compare this book with those I had as a student in high school. It does have far more colourful material. The visuals here are spectacular if set against the plain black and white of my texts. But those were from the 70s. The book also has many worked out examples and scads of exercises.

However, if you need many exercises to work through, this old fashioned offering from Schaum's has those, at a far cheaper price, Schaum's Outline of Trigonometry.

The apparently innovative stuff of the new book is its Eduspace website. Where the reader can go to get more material. The publisher and authors seem to have put a lot of effort here. Maybe this gets you value for $130. Or maybe not.

1-0 out of 5 stars Frustrating and Incomplete
This text was required for my university Trig class. Other reviewers have argued that math text books are only supplemental to the material covered in class - that it's the teacher that makes the difference. If that's the case, without a good teacher, this book is nearly useless. Whether the authors are covering fundamentals or advanced concepts/calculations, most everything gets a very cursory, succinct treatment. Should you not understand something covered in class, this text likely will not help to clarify. If you are at all unfamiliar with Trigonometry (as I was going in to this class), this text is not intended to enhance your understanding. ... Read more
