Great resource for moms!
My life can get chaotic. I love my kiddos, and I thank God for them, but if I don't stay organized things get out of hand quickly. I am usually pretty good about this, but there are times when the laundry is piled high, there's toys strewn down the hallway, and we're late (again) for some appointment. So, when I got the chance to check out Growing-Up Organized, I thought it could only help, right?
I anxiously turned straight to the chapter entitled, "Children's Closets", and learned that there were some very easy changes I could make that would help me grab the reigns back from the clutter monster taking up residence in my girls' closet. By adding a second bar and using hooks on the closet door itself, I can relieve some of the clutter and add extra storage space. There are 24 chapters in all, each addressing a different organizing issue. The book is not meant to be read through cover to cover, but to be used as a resource as needed for moms. Its' designed so you can turn to a what chapter you need, when you need it, and find the help you are looking for. There are also worksheets in the back to work through some of your organizing problems, as well as a whole chapter with links to online resources as well as great books to read to your children to spark conversations about organizing. Organized children grow up to be organized adults. From children's bedrooms to being prepared for a disaster, there is so much information packed into this book. I also really enjoyed the little Mom-to-Mom Tips scattered throughout the book, as well as the humor like this:
"Are you living in C.H.A.O.S.? Can't Have Anybody Over Syndrome"

This book will bring your sanity back!
I ordered this book after saying "Enough is enough."My house was a disorderly mess, I was constantly searching for things, and my family seemed not to notice when they dropped things here, there and everywhere.Since reading "Growing Up Organized: A Mom-to-Mom Guide" my family's ability to stay organized has improved greatly.I've put many of the author's ideas into place, including a drawer in the kitchen for the kids' table settings, a dry erase board for marking off a number of preschooler tasks necessary for getting ready for school, and hanging shelves in every closet, to keep clothes neat and within reach. The best piece of advice in this book relates to teaching my kids and husband how to keep things organized, not just how to tidy up when things are all over.I am less stressed now that things have a place, and each person is taking responsibility for his or her own belongings. As my kids are pretty little, it's the baby steps that count, and I don't expect overnight success, but this book speaks to me in that it has practical advice for every room, and every member of the family.I particularly liked the section that lists, by age, chores that children are capable of doing and more importantly, should be encouraged to do.I HIGHLY recommend this book to any mom who refuses to accept clutter and disorganization as an automatic part of life as a mom.
A must have for all moms.
As a new mom I received thisbook as a gift. As I started to flip through I realized that it was just what I needed. The book gives you realistic ideas on how to organize your everyday life, without causing any more stress. The best part to me was that everything was so practical. A small change here and there and big things became easier throughout the house. Now as a mother of two I use so many of the suggestions from this book to keep my family organized. There are also some hilarious stories the author published from her own mothering experience that let you know she was a normal mom too, with a few hang ups along the way. I highly recommend this to any woman, man, or family out there. It truly was an easy and helpful read.

I thought that I, as a mother of seven children who have grown to be fine adults, had learned everything possible about organizing for and with the kids. What a surprise! Not only did I find all of the ideas that I already had used, but a few more that I had never thought of.I also must say that when I was a third grade public school teacher, I saw many children struggle with schoolwork because their disorderly lives had them on constant mental overload.Lea shows you how to create the kind of order that will allow your kids to thrive and bring more peace into your home.Highly recommended!
