Yarrow has been traveling the county sharing what he calls the most important work of my career. His Dont Laugh at Me project (DLAM) seeks to transform schools and other youth organizations into more compassionate, safe and respectful environments for children. DLAM provides free educational resources through its Web site to help establish a safe school climate. Through music, video and classroom activities, the DLAM program helps sensitize children to the painful effects of behaviors that too often are accepted as necessary rites of passage in childhood -ridicule, disrespect (or dissing), ostracism and bullying. Materials help schools encourage: Three programs are geared to grades 2-5, grades 6-8 and to summer camps and after-school programs. Music, video and materials are based on conflict resolution curricula developed by the Resolving Conflict Creatively Program (RCCP) of Educators for Social Responsibility (ESR).
