Full of information.
This book is full of useful tricks to help one retain memory and become a better thinker. However, unlike many other books of its type, it is highly entertaining and full of amusement.There are tidbits of information that trivia buffs will find useful, but for the most part the book is a refresher course for everthing they taught you (or at least tried to teach you) in school. If you're even vaguely interested in improving your mind and want to learn all the stuff you found so boring in school, this book is a wonderful aid. ... Read more

Although she had to live away from home in order to finish high school, she became a teacher at the age of eighteen. Over the next fourteen years she taught in five different country schools, acting not only as teacher but janitor, social worker and community leader. The number of pupils ranged from six to thirty-six in grades one through eight. This book is very well researched by the author who not only took the time to travel to Charlisle but also contact and speak with the Lipan Apache Band of Texas who still live in the same land we always have lived.The author traveled and spent time with us at Carlisle where ceremonies were conducted at the graves of 3 Lipan Apache family members.There are precious few authors and historians who do nothing but write about what they have researched in libraries and archives but Fear-Segal di much more.Fear-Segal did this and met with us to gain a complete view of history and how it has affected us, and her.Thank you for taking the extra steps to do a complete story.

Informative. Has something you've never heard of before
I picked up this book for my college class on the study of Native Americans from Civil War to present.Even though this is an educational biography on boarding school life, it is actually quite intriguing.Brenda Child completely covers the topic with very interesting material. I won't say that Boarding School Seasons is one of my favorites, but if you are interested in the topic of Indian boarding schools, then you will actually be suprised at how easy it is for this book to keep your attention.If you are viewing this book for a college course, then your class shouldn't be too hard.This is one of the few college required texts that I actually managed to enjoy
