Extractions: "Anytime you bring science to life in the classroom it makes for a richer learning experience. Thats why were so excited about partnering with the American Plastics Council to make this science kit and online site available," said Mike Mansour, president of NMLSTA. "Most middle schoolers can name a dozen products made from plastics, but have never seen first-hand how polymers relate to science. Once they learn what its all about, they gain a whole new appreciation for the world around them." In addition to the classroom activities, the site contains background materials and an extensive topic-based link area that provides information on subjects including the history of plastics, recycling, resource conservation, food safety and sports. Teachers will be pleased to find that the site also conforms to some of the National Science Education Standards (National Research Council, 1996).
