Extractions: Notes: In this example, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife has developed a mapping site using ESRI's Internet Map Server software. This software permits a developer to publish maps directly from Arc/View, a commonly used desktop mapping software package by ESRI. In essence the Arc/View 'view' is rendered directly by the software when the web page is called. It also downloads a small program to help the user interact with the map. Notice the buttons across the map in the bottom frame. These tools allow for panning, zooming, and interrogating features. The arrow has just clicked on one of the red collection sites and the attribute information about the collection site is shown in the frame at top right.
