Extractions: Keep the Treat in Halloween for Colorado Children by Remembering Safety DENVERTo avoid pedestrian injuries, burns and falls this Halloween, state health officials are urging parents to make certain that children are outfitted in Halloween costumes that fit properly, are made of flame retardant material, and are clearly marked with reflective tape for easy visibility at night. Barb Bailey, injury prevention specialist with the Colorado SAFE KIDS Coalition at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, said, "Halloween is exciting for children and for parents. However, it also can be one of the most dangerous nights of the year. Darting out into the street is one of the most common causes of pedestrian deaths among children." Bailey stressed to parents, "Whether making or purchasing a Halloween costume, make certain that the material is fire resistant and that the costume is not too large or long for a child. Cumbersome costumes and blinding masks can make walking through dark neighborhoods difficult and hazardous for children." The following tips were provided by the SAFE KIDS Coalition to assure a safe Halloween: Accompany young children on their trick-or-treat rounds.

Extractions: View My Prayerbook OBJECTIVE: Halloween Reclamation With Troy Franklin While many Christians correctly see Halloween as a time of occult dangers - when Satan is out in force trying to corrupt our society - they overlook the fact that all things are created by the Lord for a purpose. So what is the purpose of this dark time of the year? Starting this year, witches are out and Jesus is in! Reclaim Halloween in the name of Jesus! (Artwork by Peggy Miller) Consider this: At what other time of the year do throngs of unsaved children come to your door, begging for you to give them a treat? Why not use this unique opportunity to give these deprived children the best treat of all - the treat of Christ's Love and eternal Salvation? Jesus Himself preached to the whores and money changers, the very people most in need of his Love. These unsaved trick-or-treaters - innocent children tricked by secular society and their non-Christian parents into participating in occult rituals - are exactly the ones in need of the Good News of Christ. And there they are, right on your door step!

Wiccan author Zsuzsanna Budapest I n honor of the Halloween season, the last week of October has been declared "Earth Religions Awareness Week" in Asheville, NC. The mayors proclamation explains that Earth-centered beliefs, are "among the oldest spiritual systems on the planet" and that pagan practitioners "have given us practical knowledge of herbal remedies, midwifery and alternative forms of healing." That may sound good to all who have embraced the new global spirituality touted in schools, movies, and the wildly popular Harry Potter books . But some of the local pastors were understandably alarmed. Concerned that such a government endorsement could speed the spread of witchcraft, they led a group of 25 Christians to City Hall. "We just wanted to counter that by making a positive statement that we believe Jesus is Lord," said Pastor Ken Lewis of the West Asheville Baptist Church. Mayor Leni Sitnick apologized, but refused to rescind the special designation for the week of October 25. "I don't tell anyone how to believe, but I support everyone's right to freedom of religion," she said. "Being aware of different religions, of all religions ... should not be feared." Of course, a government proclamation is far different than public awareness. But never mind. These
Annie's Halloween Email Page The halloween page was my first holiday page and it was the most difficult to Iuse them to teach and educate the public about the REAL history behind each http://www.annieshomepage.com/halloweenemail.html
Extractions: This is the fifth season for my Halloween pages. I have received LOTS of Halloween email. Not all of it has been "kind". Some of the negative email is even from Christians. The Halloween page was my first holiday page and it was the most difficult to complete. I have tried to take all of the "regular" American holidays and create pages from a Christian perspective. I use them to teach and educate the public about the REAL history behind each holiday. Many homeschool families use them for unit studies. The Halloween pages have caused quite a stir. Each person seems quite impassioned by the subject. I really didn't have any idea of how much emotion a page could create. My objective was NOT to JUDGE others. That is not my responsibility. We are all accountable for our own actions to the Lord. As Christians we have the Holy Spirit who does the convicting in our lives. We have the Scriptures to teach and guide us. So what Annie thinks really doesn't matter at all. If someone has a desire to change and changes comes from other peoples opinions then it will never last. Real change will only last if the Lord burdens you to do it. Rules and regulations are not what being a Christian is all about. "To whom much is given much is required". We are all accountable for our own actions and each one of our words.

A UConn engineering student has built a custom-designed teaching piano for a nine year old girl who is challenged physically and cognitively, and is scheduled to present the "treat" to her on Friday October 29th at 10:30 a.m. at the ACES Village School in North Haven, Conn. Jeremy Shattuck, a 22-year-old senior from Andover, spent a year building the piano - a highly sophisticated learning tool with music and a head that pops out from inside the instrument and speaks - as part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) program that enables student engineers at universities throughout the United States to construct devices for persons with disabilities. The piano is for Bianca Brown, a playful, vivacious student at Village School, who uses a wheel-chair for mobility. Village School is one of several special needs schools operated by ACES (Area Cooperative Educational Services) across South Central Connecticut. The origins for this novel student-to-student gift giving are found in a marriage of needs.
