Extractions: "Cisco Systems, Inc. exemplifies the very best of companies who are participating in the Job Shadow initiative," said Stuart Shapiro, Executive Director of the National Job Shadow Day Coalition. "They truly understand the value of connecting classrooms and careers to create inspiration and motivation for our students." Cisco has been working with students for years as part of their Cisco Networking Academy Program. The program is implemented in classrooms using a rigorous curriculum and instructor-led learning lab. On Job Shadow Day, students will be able to leave the classroom setting to see first-hand how the Networking Academy lessons are implemented in the real world. "Job Shadowing provides a unique opportunity to make the world of work come alive for young people," said John Morgridge, Chairman of Cisco Systems. "They are able to learn about the career opportunities created by technology and see how academic and technical skills are applied in the workplace, creating a context for their goals and dreams." Schools are also gearing up to make the most of this initiative, with more than 1,000 students expected to participate nationwide with Cisco. "Spending a day on the job with an IT professional will show our students what it takes to succeed," said TechBoston Assistant Director Felicia Vargas. "With over 100 Boston Public School students enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy program, these students will get to see what the company does first-hand. This event helps make the all-important connection between the classroom and the workplace."

Extractions: Continuing with understanding the war effort, specifically the peace protests, and speaking esoterically (inner, spiritual levels) - "It is no doubt an undeniable spiritual truth that right thought can change and save the world. But it is also true that there are not enough people able to think to do this work. Also, there is not enough time in which to do it. Thoughts of peace are often founded upon an idealism that loves the ideal more than humanity. They are based also upon an unrecognized fear of war and upon individual inertia which prefers the dream world of wishful thinking to the shouldering of responsibility for the security of humanity." On death: "The death of the physical body is a lesser evil than the setting back of civilization, the thwarting of the divine purposes of the human spirit, the negating of all spiritual teaching, and the control of men's minds and liberties. War is always evil, but it can be the lesser of two evils when the times warrant war."

Extractions: January 30th, 2003 Home Best of NWA Dining Guide Neighborhood Association ... Photo Album RISA'S ASTROLOGY Esoteric Astrology for January 30 - February 5 The quince is blooming, and the mid-winter festivals-Aquarius New Moon, the solilunar Chinese New Year, Groundhog Day, Candlemas, Imbolc, St. Brigid's Day-are about to begin. New life (fire) for all kingdoms is the theme. The new moon, 12 degrees Aquarius, occurs Saturday, February 1at 2:48 am PST. The New Group of Worlds Servers will recite the Great Invocation in at 8:00 pm Friday evening, January 31. Everyone is invited. If we all visualize circling the globe, hand in hand while reciting the Great Invocation, we become one unified group (Aquarian purpose). February 1 is also the Chinese New Year of the Sheep (ram). Called "harbingers of peace," sheep are kind, considerate, gentle, deeply spiritual and very family oriented. Sheep are excellent gardeners, artists, and actors. Chinese New Year is celebrated for 15 days, beginning at new moon (Feb. 1st) and ending at the Full moon with the Festival of Lanterns (February 15th) whose lights guide the Spirits traveling in the etheric realms. The week: Thursday, v/c all day and night, the Sun joins Neptune. We look for gurus, perhaps, to lead us and are disappointed. There are no gurus (the old idea) anymore. Provide compassion instead. Friday, moon enters Aquarius at 4:44 am (note 444 equals the 3 of Divine Knowledge). Study is best. A larger, humanitarian picture emerges for those who can "see." We are to ask "What is the "causal," inner reality occurring in our world?"

Extractions: Groundhog Day 1886-1992, the Groundhog Day Festival celebrated each year on February 2nd in Punxsutawney is rooted in ancient traditions. The Roman Legions brought the tradition to the Germans, who believed that the hedgehog, seeing its shadow, predicted six more weeks of winter. The German settlers, finding groundhogs in abundance, adopted them in place of the European hedgehog. Beginning in 1887, Punxsutawney Phil has consistently prophesied the arrival of spring, though not always as early a spring as we might like. There has even been a movie produced about Groundhog Day. Groundhog Day is about a Pittsburgh weather man, played by Bill Murray, who goes to Punxsutawney to report on the Groundhog Festival, and who, through a twist of fate, is forced to relive Groundhog Day over 20 times. The movie is a comedy, but it also has a serious lesson to teach us.
