GEORGIA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION single sex schools, totally boarding, or boarding and day the Southern Associationof Colleges and schools (SACS) and/or the georgia Accrediting Commission http://www.gisa2.org/aboutgisa.htm
Extractions: GEORGIA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION The Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) is an association of private independent, and parochial schools throughout the state. In Georgia, as throughout the nation, each member school is unique. Each shares a commitment to overall excellence and to the nurture and care of the physical, intellectual, social and moral development of all students. While most schools are college preparatory, offering small classes and stressing a rich curriculum and individual attention, independent and parochial schools also stress each student's responsibility and service to the community in their policies and programs. Each encourages enrollment from all segments of the community. GISA member schools vary in their individual teaching philosophies, goals, and diversity of curricula. All aspects of each school's teaching methods, size, etc. are designed to meet the needs of students and families they so ably serve. Each GISA member school defines its own mission - what programs to offer, who will teach, and how they will teach. A strong argument can be made that independent and parochial schools are among the most accountable schools in America, for they answer directly to their constituencies: the families who choose them, and the accrediting agencies that evaluate them. In addition, association member schools comply with all applicable state and federal laws, including IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) nonprofits. They answer, also, to their alumni, who are the stewards of the schools' traditions and their representatives in the community.
