The following is not necessarily related to my line or to North Carolina research. I have made no attempt to verify the information, but solely to catalogue the available resources. Some names here may be same persons in separate records. Some may be of Ashe of Alleghany N.C. but inadequate data exists within the specified records to connect them with any degree of certainty. Where there appears sufficient data to reasonably conclude that the same person is indeed referred to, those sources have been combined into a single listing. For example, record details of Micajah Perry are quiet extensive and many are nothing more than that he shipped goods on a particular ship on a specified date. Listing of each article individually would have been useless to the genealogical researcher.
Extractions: 3.1 What Information May be Found Prior to 1820, most of the sailing ships were primarily cargo ships and the passengers were listed on the ship's cargo manifest. These lists vary broadly in the amount and type of information they contain. Some ancestors were actually shipped by the pound as if they were trunks of books or bales of wool. The lists may generally contain the following information for the passenger: Country, province, or exact town of origin Date of arrival in the U.S. Family members or others who immigrated on the same ship Destination in the U.S. Occupation, age, and sex
